Welcome to our very first issue of 2026! It feels like we are only just back into the school routine and we already have February half term just around the corner!
We have lots going on in the area so take a look at our February Fun pages to help plan the week off school. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor activities so that you have some ideas up your sleeve whatever the weather!
Our annual Party Guide on pages 12 and 13 will provide inspiration for your all-important parties this year! Why not pull out those pages to keep or take a photo so that you can refer to them when it comes to planning.
Lastly, don’t forget to enter our competitions on page 11 where we have some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Each week, children are transported into exciting adventures inspired by much-loved stories, becoming heroes, explorers and problem-solvers together. Spencer’s Reading Challenge 2026
Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses across West Northamptonshire, as well as vital support for their families. Spencer’s Reading Challenge comes at a very special time, as Cynthia Spencer Hospice celebrates an incredible 50 years of care and compassion. It’s the perfect year for schools to get involved and help raise vital funds and awareness for the hospice.
This fantastic challenge is an excellent opportunity for all students, no matter their reading level, to get involved and engaged this spring. Starting on World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, and running for four weeks, the team are inviting students to build a book tower taller than their head teacher. Every book they finish gets added to the tower, so the more they read, the higher it grows. How tall can your school build its tower?
It’s completely free to sign up, and any child who raises £25 or more will receive a special activity book and certificate. A brilliant way to celebrate reading, support a local charity in its milestone year, and bring your school community together.

Four weeks of free training for new beginners at TISKA Karate
TISKA (Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association) heads up clubs nationally and internationally. TISKA was established by Gursharan Sahota, the Chief Instructor (9th Dan) and founder. Back in 2015 he was asked to accept the title of “Shihan” meaning Master Instructor. This title is given as a sign of respect for the person named. Shihan currently teaches over 40 classes per week to students in Beaconsfield, Chalfont St Peter, Amersham, Chesham, Berkhamsted, Dunstable, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire and has bought many hundreds of students to Black belt standard and beyond. Karate is the ultimate self-defence and promotes fitness, self-awareness, confidence, etiquette, respect and self-discipline.
