The Summer Reading Challenge, delivered by The Reading Agency and public libraries, is back for 2026!
This year’s exciting music-inspired theme, Read to the Beat, encourages children to explore the connection between stories and songs, launching in England on Saturday 4th July. A vibrant herd of 30 beautifully designed elephant sculptures will take to the streets as part of Trunks across the Thames, the first ever free public art trail by Thames Hospice.

The Waterside Centre’s Summer Holiday Club is packed with high energy fun for children aged 8 to 11, running every Tuesday to Friday throughout August, 8.30am to 3.30pm (excludes Bank Holiday).
