Kendrick School Widening Horizons Programme
Kendrick School has been awarded the prestigious Sutton Trust Fair School Admissions Award at the highest GOLD level for their Widening Horizons programme for the second year running. The top Gold level is awarded to schools who have made significant changes to their admissions policies to ensure that there is fair access to all pupils, regardless of socio-economic background.
Girls in school Years 3-5 who are eligible can join the Widening Horizons programme. They can join a weekly online Inspire Club where students are supported in their studies by senior Kendrick students; receive their Inspire Bulletin packed with helpful information to aid learning; and sign up to a free online learning package. If sitting the admissions test, Year 5 students are invited to attend a test familiarisation day in July and could be admitted with a lower qualifying score. Parents can register their child online for the test from 1st May 2026 and no later than 1st July 2026. Falling between the gaps
For many children, mainstream schools cannot offer the level of individualised support required, while special schools feel inaccessible or inappropriate. When a child does not meet clear thresholds for either, they can be left without the understanding and support they need to thrive. Parents can feel unheard as their child is ‘fine in school’, but at home, their ‘safe space’, they unravel. In a system where support is often only unlocked at crisis point, this understanding matters. This event is for parents only and will explain the 11+ entrance examination process in detail. This event is not suitable for children, as it does not provide school specific details. It is purely to provide you with information necessary for you to understand the testing and application process and will last for a maximum of one hour. This one event cover applies to the same 11+ process for all four schools.
The event will be held online and will comprise of a live presentation by Jo Rockall, Headteacher of Herschel Grammar School followed by a question-and-answer session via the chat function with the Headteachers of all four schools. Following the event a Frequently Asked Questions document will be produced and posted on the schools’ websites with a recording of the presentation. National Trust Easter Adventures in Berkshire
This Easter, there’s a real festival feel at National Trust places around Berkshire. Leighton Park goes ‘Into the Woods’
Leighton Park School’s latest production, ‘Into the Woods’ delighted audiences with Sondheim’s dark and witty classic by bringing to life familiar Grimm fairy tale characters in a way never seen before. Jessica Wittert van Hoogland, Director of Drama, reflected, “I am incredibly proud of all of the students who’ve worked with so much determination, energy and joy to take this from the page to the stage.”

Top marks for St George’s School Windsor Castle
St George’s School Windsor Castle were celebrating this term after it was announced they had passed their latest school inspection with flying colours. Judged to have met all of the required standards, the report compiled by the Independent Schools Inspectorate highlighted many positive aspects of the school’s provision.
From “high levels of wellbeing” to an “extensive extracurricular programme”, “highly individualised approaches” and “experienced and dedicated staff”, the report contained wide-ranging praise, reinforcing the school’s previous inspection outcome when it was judged to be excellent in all areas.
The report was also highly complimentary about the school’s students. Noting that they are “articulate and confident” with “well-developed communication skills”, students “skilfully apply information garnered from a range of sources, as exemplified in research-based projects presented by older pupils.”
