āYou- youāre,ā A raspy wheeze squeezed out of them, āYouāre like the General.ā
The Ryuukanaās ragged breathing slowed to a stop.
The General rested their hand on their chest.
Footsteps approached the general, its pattern uneven. A soft scraping followed on the damp stones. The bloodied edge of the generalās sword stopped just short of the otherās throat.
The general turned to see his lieutenant, the shorter male holding the blade with a sharp claw.
āWow, Kai, I never knew you cared.ā
A wry smile spread across the lieutenantās face. His blue eyes glowed in the darkness cast by the smoke.
The general looked away, āI am not in the mood right now, even for you.ā blood.

Kairoās eyes turned to the bloodshed around him, āMorals?ā
Vincentās grip on the generalās shoulder tightened.
āThis isnāt about morals.ā Kairo grabbed Vincentās wrist, āThis is about the limits we can allow our king to command us to.ā

Rage burned through Kairoās veins.

A soft chuckle came from the General, āAlright, I suppose one book isnāt going to irreparably change the fate of the kingdom and its people.ā
He looked down at Lux, āBut no more late night trips to the Royal Library, fair?ā
Lux nodded, a smile spreading across his face. Relief hopped up. His tail wagged above his head, a happy trill sounding in the air.

āOne book, huh.ā The white and black haired young adult sat on a rock.
The wyvernās head lifted from the grass next to him, a deep rumble emanating from his throat. The dark furred wolf pup Soul Born on its back yipped. Its small halo brightened as it shook out its fur.
āReminiscing, Eclipse, nothing bad.ā He rested his palm on his snout.
The puppy yipped again.
Lux shook his head, āYou guyās need for attention makes me wonder if I didnāt get enough as a kid.ā
He held his hand out to the pup and pulled them into his the air, rolling onto its back.
