RST Contour Plus protectors combine comfort and protection due to the unique material BIOELASTAN working in unison with the products anatomically designed contours and strengthened segments. Thanks to the Temper foam elements which remembers its original form, it remains both stable and supple in cold and hot weather. Where other soft protectors get softer or harder depending on the temperature. PRODUCT TESTING
CONTOUR PLUS
Bioelastan is an amazing material designed and developed by the world famous POWERTECTOR company. It is made from a range of materials chosen for their impact energy-absorption, compatibility with both textile and leather garments, and its incredible consistency across a very wide range of temperatures. Over time, we have evolved our solution to these challenges until we developed a material that correctly addressed all the challenges in the sports protection environment. Most importantly, it absorbs energy very effectively and comfortably passes the stringent EN 1261-series CE homologations. This results in a safe, comfortable protector for both road and racing.

THE STORY SO FAR...
Over the last 12 years RST has developed from a small range of gloves to the UK’s fastest growing and best selling range of motorcycle clothing. RST has now established itself as brand to be reckoned with in Australia, South Africa and across Europe. How have we done this in such a short time? The answer is simple, a constant drive to produce the safest, highest performance, best fitting and best value products possible. The key to being able to produce such a comprehensive, fresh and improved range year on year is the best design and development team in the UK. The RST design and development team comprises three members and is headed by Jonny Towers; Jonny was the original driving force behind RST and founded the brand in 1999, Jonny has had a hand in every RST product ever made! Jonny has a wealth of racing experience and has won the CBR150 8 hour endurance challenge in Cape Town the last three years running. This experience helps in making sure even the smallest details like slider position aren’t overlooked. Chris Walker is the designer at RST and has been for the last 9 years. Chris was a professional cyclist before joining RST, winning the Milk race Tour of Britain in 1991!. Having been a professional athlete for so many years Chris knows the intense drive and determination it takes to succeed at the highest level. These attributes and a passion for motorcycling gives Chris the edge that can be seen in every RST garment in this catalogue. Robert Swinbank is the master of product development, what Rob doesn’t know about materials and manufacturing isn’t worth knowing! Rob left school with an apprenticeship as a sewing machine engineer at a leather manufacturer and was soon making his own leathers. Rob and Chris spend months at our factories making sure all RST products are of the highest quality. Rob’s experience can be felt in every RST garment, from the strongest zips and stitching to the best quality leather and textiles.

Alastair was born 4th October 1979 in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. His involvement with bikes started from an early age due to his father Joe racing bikes. Alastair started out racing MX in 1994. After a total of 30 race wins, he decided to call it a day MX racing in 1997. It wasn’t until 2000, after a suggestion from his father, that Alastair give short circuit road racing a try. His first taste of road racing was in club events in Northern Ireland. In 2002 he had taken 20 wins, including his first national 125cc win and several 600cc open class wins. Alastair moved to the British Superstock Championship in 2007, finishing 10th. He improved to finish 4th in 2008 and took his first North West 200 victory in the superstock class. 2009 saw complete domination from the Wee Wizard, winning the first 9 rounds of the British Supersport class and taking the championship with 3 rounds to spare. In 2010 he finished 6th in the BSB class riding for Relentless Suzuki by TAS. Once again in 2011 Alastair took the race victory in the North West 200 Supersport class. After a thrilling final race at Brands Hatch Alastair was crowned 2011 British Supersport Champion.

Graeme started riding bikes from the age of three, his first bike was a honda QR 50. He would take his bike to enduro racers that his dad was competing in and ride in the woods. He started competing in motocross competitions at the age of 6 culminating in winning the ACU British motocross championship in 2004. Graeme’s career on tarmac began in 2005 in his first race at Elvington where he took second place. 2006 was Graeme’s first full season riding in the Virgin Mobile cup season, he finished the championship in 4th. In 2007 Graeme won the spanish supersport champi-
onship and is the first British rider to have done so. 2010 Graeme took a step back to riding the supersport bike. With funds very tight there was very few days testing however he managed to finish a very respectable 6th in the championship. 2011 didn’t start out too well with Graeme suffering multiple fractures at the first round. These injuries ruled him out for the first three rounds but once fit again Graeme was in fantastic form winning 12 of the last 13 Evo races. He finished just 27 points behind the championship winner and is surely tipped for big things in 2012.

Chris was born March 25th 1970 in Nottingham. In his early years Chris worked for his father in their family run motorbike shop. As an accomplished moto-X rider, Chris’s natural talent allowed him to make the transition into road racing. Chris’s nickname “The Stalker” came courtesy of friend and fellow rider Jamie Whitham. With Chris having a stalker at the time, having finished second in a number of races and it rhyming with his surname, it was perfect.
Having ridden in British Superbikes, 500cc World Championship and World Superbikes, Chris regards his ride at Assen in the World Superbike Championship 2006 as the ride of his career. Riding for PSG kawasaki he started 13th on the grid but dropped to 26th position at the first corner after running onto the grass. He rode a fantastic race in torrential rain conditions to make his way through the field and take the race victory.

Cameron was born 28 September 1977 in Melbourne Australia. His first bike was a Suzuki RM50 handed down to him at the age of six from his older brother Brad. Cameron was riding regularly for years but didn’t start racing seriously until the age of 15 when he started racing short circuit dirt track events. After winning numerous races and state titles dirt racing the natural progression was for Cameron to follow in the footsteps of his brothers and father into road racing. With his unique style of dirt track sliding skill and GP bike precision, Cameron was a formidable opponent. Riding in the national 125,250 and Australian Supersport Championship he had an
ever growing list of race wins and Championships to his name. In the years that followed Cameron competed in numerous championships including the Asian Road Racing Championship, and also won the Macau Supersport GP twice. 2005 saw the start of his Isle Of Man challenge, finishing fastest newcomer in his first event. 2008 was his most successful to date finishing on the top step in the Superbike and Superstock races. He was on course to win the blue riband event, the Senior TT but his bike suffered an oil leak while leading. Despite this he held on to 2nd place to finish of a great weekend for himself and his team.

Taylor Mackenzie was born 24th February 1993 in Stirling Scotland. He is son of multiple British Championship winner and ex-GP rider Niall Mackenzie. Taylor’s younger brother Tarran has also followed in his Father and brothers footsteps and currently competes in the British 125cc Championship. Taylor’s first bike was a Yamaha PW50 that he would ride at the age of 4. His road racing career started in 2006 riding Mini moto’s in the Scottish Championship. It was in 2008 that Taylor moved into the British 125cc Championship. His best result would be 6th at the final round at Brands Hatch.
For 2009 Taylor would have a very busy year competing in the Moto GP Rookies Cup, The British 125cc Championship and competing in the final round of the Spanish Championship. 2010 was once again a busy year competing in the Red Bull Rookies, British 125cc Championship and the final race in the Spanish Championship. 2011 saw a major step for Taylor’s career signing a 2 year deal to ride MotoGP 125cc World Championship for the first year and then in the new Moto3 Championship the following year. Taylor would be rubbing shoulders with the world’s elite riders such as Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa.
