F Depuis plus de cinq décennies, le pianiste Monty Alexander crée des ponts entre le jazz US, la chanson populaire et les sonorités de sa Jamaïque natale. Il a joué avec une constellation d’artistes: Frank Sinatra, Dizzie Gillespie, Sonny Rollins et bien d’autres encore. Formant vers la fin des années 50 Monty and the Cyclones, il enregistre avec les Skatalites. Émigré aux États-Unis dans les années 60, il se produit dans des clubs et fait mouche auprès de sa nouvelle famille musicale: Charlie Parker ou Miles

E The pianist Monty Alexander has been exploring and building bridges between the worlds of American jazz, popular ballads and the sounds of his native Jamaica for over five decades. He’s played with a constellation of stars including Frank Sinatra, Dizzie
Gillespie, Sonny Rollins and many more. At the end of the 1950s, he formed Monty and the Cyclones, and recorded with the Skatalites. He emigrated to the United States in the 1960s and started playing in clubs, winning over his new musical family of choice: Charlie Parker and Miles Davis. Monty has recorded over 70 albums. He’s still touring every continent with the regularity of a metronome. He tells the story of a charmed life in Harlem-Kingston Express, which he’ll be playing in the intimate Montreux Jazz Club.
