Mr. Stokes
What was your SAE during high school?
Beef Production, Forage Production, ag communication, and Fruit Production. I had a few beef cows, put up hay with my grandpa, played banjo in a bluegrass band, and grew an acre of watermelons.
How many years have you been a teacher and FFA advisor?
This is my 17th year teaching. 1 year at Clever, 9 years at Pleasant Hope, and starting year 7 in Buffalo.
What made you want to be an Ag. teacher?
I really loved FFA and Ag classes in high school. I was very competitive in CDEs and loved being an officer, but really never considered teaching in HS. After a couple of changes of college majors I ended up settling on ag ed. I give a lot of credit to my ag teacher Mr. Voris who always believed in me and wouldn't accept anything but my very best.

What is something you hope to achieve this school year?
This year I am really focused on relationship building and improving our communications kills within the members of our chapter. I am hoping to build critical thinking skills of our members and leading them in engaging in better conversations. I am also very excited for our new teacher Mrs. Brickey, and am hoping to be a good support system for her as she joins our team.
What do you enjoy doing outside of FFA?
So many things! I love having great conversations with interesting people, farming, swimming, spending time with my daughter, traveling, trying new things...the list goes on and on!
Mrs. Brickey

FFA is where I choose to invest all my time. It challenges me, excites me, and continues to help me grow every day.

griculture, with a fai won by the present an agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.
I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.
I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so-for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.
I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.
