BLACKWATER CREEK TRAIL

The Blackwater Creek Natural Area (BWCNA) is primarily a linear greenway that follows the winding route of Blackwater Creek, incorporating wooded hillsides and stream valleys throughout its length. Extensive trails- both paved and earthen- allow hikers, bikers, and runners access to most of the natural area, as well as connecting busy neighborhoods, schools, and parks to the peace and solitude of the BWCNA Level 1 - Leisurely Stroll: The trail consists of flat or gradual terrain and is typically a paved or groomed surface. ST. PATRICK’S DAY CLAY GNOME PLANTER - $40

Feb. 11, 1-3 pm, Paint n Fun (Christiansburg Mall)

Create your very own clay gnome planter! Price includes clay, instructions, firing, glazing, and 2nd firing. Includes all materials for one gnome. After you have completed your gnome, you will leave it with us to slowly dry for 2-3 weeks. We will reach out to the phone number you provide to let you know when the gnome is ready for glazing. Then you can come in during business hours to paint and we will fire one more time for a complete project! The deadline to register or withdraw is Feb 4

THRIFT STORE TRIP - $9

BEARTOWN HIKE - $30

Beartown State Park is a 110-acre natural area located on the eastern summit of Droop Mountain in northern Greenbrier County and a small portion of Pocahontas County. Beartown is known for its unusual rocky formations, massive boulders, overhanging cliffs, and deep crevices The park’s main attraction is a half-mile boardwalk, which showcases these spectacular sights. Beartown State Park is open from April through October. Lunch will be provided. The deadline to register or withdraw is March 31.

TRIAD SHRED-A-THON

Apr. 7, 3-6 pm, Christiansburg Huckleberry Park

Help prevent identity theft, shred unwanted documents, protect identifying information and clean out clutter! Please bring your documents in a box or plastic tote (no larger than 22.5x18x11.5") and respect the limit of three totes/boxes per vehicle. Items that cannot be shredded include: metal, threering binders, composition notebooks, hanging file folders, paint brushes, padlocks, hardback books, keys, eyeglasses, bungee cords, etc. Please note that the Shred-A-Thon is a drive-thru event; please do not get out of your car and approach the collection site, but rather stay in the line of vehicles for an event coordinator to approach you No walk ups will be allowed. This class will teach lifesaving skills of adult-only CPR, how to use an AED, what to do in case of choking, and basic first aid skills. This class is for anyone who wants to learn CPR and first aid but does not need a certification card You will leave the class with the knowledge needed to help save a life while EMS is on the way. NATIONAL D-DAY MEMORIAL - $30

The grounds for the monument take visitors on an archival journey through World War II and the politics and perils that embody the time period. Paying tribute to the men and women who served their country in one of its most dire battles, the D-Day National Memorial creates a solemn atmosphere for veterans and visitors alike to gain insight and learn more about the events that shaped our nation’s and our world’s history. Join us for a trip to the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville! One of the most notable shopping areas is the historic, pedestrian Downtown Mall, a half-mile of restaurants with outdoor dining, theaters, boutique shops, and venues. The mall is lined with family-owned businesses and places you’ll be recommending to your friends.

Please note: Participants will be dropped off downtown to explore at their own pace and will be responsible for their own lunch. Be prepared for walking, including some hills and uneven sidewalks. Please dress accordingly. The deadline to register or withdraw is May 19.
