The national average price of diesel has increased 1.7 cents in the last week and stands at $3.693 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $2.33/g yesterday while the most expensive was $3.99/g, a difference of $1.66/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $2.33/g while the highest was $3.99/g, a difference of $1.66/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.09/g today. The national average is down 11.5 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 37.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: July 21, 2024: $3.03/g (U.S. Average: $3.47/g) July 21, 2023: $3.23/g (U.S. Average: $3.56/g) July 21, 2022: $3.90/g (U.S. Average: $4.42/g) July 21, 2021: $2.84/g (U.S. Average: $3.16/g) July 21, 2020: $1.89/g (U.S. Average: $2.18/g) July 21, 2019: $2.51/g (U.S. Average: $2.76/g) July 21, 2018: $2.63/g (U.S. Average: $2.83/g) July 21, 2017: $2.08/g (U.S. Average: $2.28/g) July 21, 2016: $2.01/g (U.S. Average: $2.17/g) July 21, 2015: $2.52/g (U.S. Average: $2.75/g)

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.64/g, down 10.2 cents per gallon from last week's $2.74/g. San Antonio- $2.70/g, up 13.0 cents per gallon from last week's $2.57/g. Austin- $2.73/g, up 14.6 cents per gallon from last week's $2.59/g. “The national average price of gasoline slipped slightly over the last week, falling alongside oil, which dropped more than $2 per barrel,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “However, a few states— including Florida, Nebraska, and Indiana— bucked the trend, posting double-digit increases per gallon. These areas are prone to a phenomenon known as price cycling, where prices can spike and plunge every couple of weeks even if wholesale costs remain mostly unchanged. While I don’t expect major movement in the national average as we approach August, states impacted by price cycling will likely continue to experience more volatile price swings, while others will see relative stability.” SOURCE GasBuddy

by Ruben Borjas, Jr If you haven’t noticed the new sign in front of the N.H. Davis Pioneer Complex, it is ‘OK To Sit On At Anytime,’ the Montgomery Historical Society is aiming to reestablish the lost Art of Porch Sitting. In Historic Montgomery, there are some mighty fine porches around, and who knows? This simple sign can reignite a pastime that was a normal activity back in the day, when times were

much slower, and people weren’t buried in today’s modern technology. “It’s a Porch Sit-On, not a Porch Sit-In,” said Montgomery Historical Society President Billy Ray Duncan. “We want the young and old to take advantage of our porch, to take a load off, and enjoy life.” Porch sitting begs the sitter to slow down, relax, enjoy the outdoors, and take a deep breath. It’s a way to connect with nature, and with company it allows for conversation, to people watch. and observe The World as it passes by. And just perhaps it allows you to actually think a little. Who knows how many great ideas were dreamed up on porches? Sitting on a porch allows for fleeting moments of peace in a busy world, and allows for socialization, observation, or contemplation with

Montgomery Lifers, MHS President Billy Ray Duncan, and Mr Joe Jackson Jr, sitting on the N.H, Davis porch last week thoughts. The Historical Society is offering a chance to relive a once common activity, and get to know a "lost art" that can be revived with the help of a little suggestion on behalf of the MHS. Porch sitting can be a great destressor, a way to disconnect from screens, and with some sweet tea or

lemonade, can be an excellent way to take in sunrises and sunsets with friends or loved ones. Although some are a bit weary of younger folks holding hands on the porch, the Historical Society encourages See Historical , page 2

She was a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in Architecture and Interior Design, where Manchaca was a Dean’s List student and greatly admired by her professors and fellow students alike.
