Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 8.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.33/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 19.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 25.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 5.4 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.521 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $1.89/g yesterday while the most expensive was $3.95/g, a difference of $2.06/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $1.89/g while the highest was $3.95/g, a difference of $2.06/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 4.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.75/g today. The national average is down 22.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 22.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. By Kent Pendleton, AAMS, Pendle Hill Advisors, LLC Retirement & Longevity The practicalities and possibilities of embracing the future on your own. Marriage. Home. Children. The boxes that once defined the passage into adulthood are increasingly going unticked. Marriage rates, which peaked at 78.8% in 1949, sat at just over 47% in 2024, according to the US Census Bureau – and they haven't been above 50% since 2010. A recent New York Times article explored the rise in renting among households earning $1 million+, which tripled between 2019 and 2023. The increase was informed by the pandemic and economic factors, but also driven by high-earning Millennials, whose share of the rental market increased by 60%. And Pew Research Center found that a growing number – 47% – of American adults under 50 say they are unlikely to ever have children.

It all adds up to a substantial cultural shift, but what does it mean for the other big milestones we mark with time? Retirement. Legacy. Aging. “There is a growing population of what we call 'solo agers,'” says Emily Treasure, Senior Manager of Longevity Planning, who focuses on helping financial advisors and their clients navigate longevity planning at Raymond James. T r a d i t i o n a l l y, t h i s population has been solitary more by circumstance than by choice, navigating aging in the wake of loss or a divorce. But increasingly, their ranks are being joined by people who see aging alone for its possibility. And based on the skyrocketing number of gray divorcees – which has doubled since the 1990s, also according to Pew – a growing share of the “traditional” cohort seem to be embracing the freedom a solo future can offer. Whether you're approaching solo aging as a destination or a contingency, planning is the critical piece, says Emily. “It's important to start early and to plan in ways you might not expect – not just having higher cash reserves and key legal documents, but also cultivating hobbies and building community.” Aging on your own and on your own terms, she says, is ain the details. Alone again (intention-

ally) Solo aging is not a new phenomenon, but planning for it financially, physically, geographically and socially is a modern invention. Even if it's something you'd prefer to avoid, taking the time to be intentional, to explore what would make that lifestyle work for you, could help deter future stress and, potentially, expand your ideas of what's possible. The independence and flexibility of aging alone generates options – from launching a second-act career to relocating to a new city or country, or deepdiving into niche interests – but it also invites additional layers of practical considerations. It's not just asking yourself “When will I retire?” but “How will I maintain social connections once I'm not plugging into a work community every day?” It's not simply “What can I do to support my health?” but “Who will be around to help me through a health crisis?” And it's more than 'What are my wishes?”; it's “Who will ensure they're carried out?” Who will answer the call? Knowing who will help, from meal prep to medical directives, is the biggest concern for a lot of solo agers, Emily says. “Financial advisors and other professionals like attorneys are in good positions to help identify the

Solo agers should also keep long-term care in mind and have a plan for how it will be funded and who they'll legally empower to make decisions. What if I get hit by a bus? Like anybody else, solo agers need an estate plan, but unlike others the role of executor won't fall naturally to traditional candidates like a partner or child. A trusted friend or neighbor could be an option, but it's worth exploring hiring a professional trustee or executor to handle the nuances – and, as always, to document your wishes early and often. Who will I talk to? A number of studies have found that social engage-

ment and social activity are among the biggest determinants of brain health as we age. So, getting and staying connected through things like church groups, commun i t y o rg a n i z a t i o n s a n d members clubs can be more than a cure for idleness – it can actually enhance longevity. Solo, not solitary In her work, Emily cautions against seeing independence as the end-all. “People who are aging solo often assume independence is always going to equal empowerment, and it might today. But I don't know if they're prepared for how quickly isolation can set in. You can have a financial plan, you can have a housing plan, but if you don't plan for how you're actually going to live day to day, it can be a really big surprise.” She recommends that people consider complementing their autonomy with a deeper investment in things they are already passionate about – faith, community or volunteerism, for example. Those with a passion for hands-on giving can use volunteer match portals to search for local opportunities. And world travelers might explore swapping their next solo trip for an activity-, arts- or learningbased group tour with a private travel club. Patronage can also provide connection beyond a gala or gallery visit. Patrons' circles at museums and arts venues often include a host of fringe social benefits in addition to tickets. For example, the perks of an

annual donation to New Yo r k ' s M e t r o p o l i t a n Museum can extend from lounge access and bespoke events to day trips and learning series. Ultimately there is an irony in planning to age alone, because the goal is to ensure that you aren't. You will need people around you and a plan they can follow to help you mark the milestones that will define your life on your terms. and placed several stitches. “Once everything was cleaned and closed, we moved him to our intensive care unit so he could start recovering,” Doyle said. ‘Paws’-itive Progress After overcoming so many bumps in the road, Vlad gradually regained his strength. “He was a huge fan favorite; everyone just loved him,” Haman said. “He is an absolute character and such a cuddle bug too — he was just excited to see us every day.” Likewise, Danielle and David enjoyed interacting with Vlad’s care team daily as they stayed in close contact with the hospital staff and faculty throughout Vlad’s surgery and recovery. “Everybody was just so compassionate and had such great bedside manners,” David said. “We could just

tell the sincerity in everybody we interacted with.” After about 10 days in the hospital, Vlad’s bloodwork returned to normal, he regained his appetite, and he was strong enough to go home. Now that he is fully recovered, Vlad is back to his normal, mischievous, active self. “He plays fetch with little sparkle balls and drops them in our hands like a dog,” David said. “He’ll climb — the other day he had to be a good 30 feet up in one of our oak trees. He just runs up there and runs back down.

“He recovered like absolutely nothing happened,” he said. “All his fur grew back in, and he’s had a 100% rebound.” Despite their household being divided between two universities — Danielle, a University of Texas alumna, and David, a Texas A&M University alumnus — both appreciated how the Aggie hospital team worked seamlessly across specialties to take care of their special cat. “I told Danielle, ‘You’re going to have to just accept that your favorite kitten is an Aggie,’” David said. “And she said, ‘Well, I married an Aggie, so I guess I can deal with my cat being an Aggie, too.’ “We’d 100% recommend A&M to anyone,” David said. “I knew if the Aggies couldn’t save him, no one could.”

Early voting begins Tuesday February 17, 2026. Get The Facts and Know the Issues Before Voting The Texas House Republican Caucus voted on December 7th., 2024. They selected David Cook to be their candidate for the Speaker of the House for the 8 9 t h Te x a s l e g i s l a t i v e session beginning in 2025. The vote took place after multiple rounds of balloting, with Cook winning 48-14 among the 62 members p r e s e n t ! Tw e n t y - s i x Republicans defected with help from Will Metcalf and, the previous Speaker of the House Dade Phelan who walked out before the final vote. The elected Republican State Representatives majority contend that Dade Phelan who was the previous Texas Speaker of the House (in the 88th legislative session) had to resign because he was caught appointing Democrats to committee chair positions in exchange for their votes. This time, in the last 89th legislative session, D a d e P h e l a n a n d Wi l l Metcalf again defected and joined with Democrats in exchange for their votes. In exchange for Democrat votes, Will Metcalf defected from the Republican Party to vote with the Democrats by supporting and voting with the Democrats preferred candidate “Dustin Burrows” for Speaker, and if elected he would then appoint only Democrats, not Republicans, to all of the Texas House Committees as Vice Chairs, excluding Republicans and defecting from the Republican Party agenda. As long as Democrats voted with Will Metcalf and Dade Phelan who defected from the Republican Party's choice for leader, and vote with Democrats for “Dustin Burrows” for Speaker of the House; then, Dustin Burrows could in turn appoint only Democrats as Vice-chairmen and would not allow any Republicans t o s e r v e a s Vi c e - c h a i r leaders on any of the Texas House committees for the entire State of Texas. Does this sound like a good deal for the Democrats? Yes, of course it does. All Republicans were prohibited from serving as Vice-chairmen or Vice-chairwomen across the entire State of Texas. The Democrats loved gaining more power! A full majority of Democrats all agreed and voted for Mr. Burrows, who in turn with Will Metcalf's vote defected from the Republican majority, for Burrows to be House Speaker, and then Burrows being loyal to Democrats promptly appointed only Democrats as Vice-chairs. The results of these Republicans often called traitors, who defected from the Republican Party and voted with Democrats, ended in a ban stopping all Conservative Christian Republicans from serving on any committees as Vice Chairmen or Vice Chair-

In exchange for votes Will Metcalf and Dustin Burrows (defecting from the Republican Caucus) voted with a full majority of the Democrats to become Speaker. Right after voting with the Democrats, then ONLY Democrats were appointed to all of the ViceChairmen and Chairwomen positions to all of the 30 Texas Standing Committees; and, 10 Democrats were even appointed to the 12 permanent subcommittees. Republican Caucus and Montgomery voters are outraged! Fact: This guide gives you the actual list of names for every single Democrat appointed to Vice Chairmanships by the Republican defector Dustin Burrows, who was elected by the Democrats under the leadership of District 16 State Representative Will Metcalf, who also defected with past Speaker of the House Dade Phelan on the issue, and who resigned after for being caught appointing Democrat Chairmanships in exchange for votes. Fact: The Montgomery County Republican Party Executive Committee and majority of elected voting precinct chairs in District 16 d i d n o t e n d o r s e Wi l l Metcalf. He was censured by a majority of the elected Montgomery County Republican precinct chair representatives for a reason. His defection resulted in giving more power to the Democrats, but he is running again as a Republican. District 16 Montgomery voters have been betrayed. Fact: Jon Bouche was the Vice Chairman for all of the Montgomery County Texas R e p u b l i c a n P a r t y. M r. Bouche agreed to step down in his official capacity as the Vi c e C h a i r m a n o f t h e Republican Party in order run in the March 2026 Republican Primary Election to hold Republicans like Will Metcalf, Dustin Burrows and Dade Phalen accountable for what many believe to be traitorous actions for defecting from the Republican Party to vote with the Democrats. This “Montgomery County Voters Guide” recommends voting for Jon Bouche for House District 16 State Representative on the March 03, 2026 primary ballot. Fact: Precinct 72 covers Bentwater subdivision and some adjacent area. This “Montgomery County Republican Voters Guide” recommends voting for and endorses Sarai Damien for Precinct 72 Chairman. She will be listed on the March

03, 2026 Republican Ballot in first place voting position for Precinct 72. Sarai Damien is a dedicated Republican Christian conservative and with her husband Ryan and 2 children attend North Shore Church in Bentwater. Sarai Damien is running against Anne Kate current chair. Sarai Demien is endorsed by members of the North Shore Church, and by Montgomery County Texas elected Republican Precinct Chairs (men and women) for the courage she has shown stepping into the race, to run against Anne Kate. Anne Kate is on record voting for (not censuring) defending the actions of Will Metcalf who defected from the Republican Caucus of the Texas House of Representatives to vote with and support his Democrat colleagues agenda by adding 30 Democrats to all Vice Chairmanship positions, and 10 Democrats to 12 permanent subcommittees. Will Metcalf by voting, with Mr. Burrows (under House rules Burrows can impose) funded alleged allocations which could exceed $3,000.000 (Three Millions Dollars) for the Democrats to hire staff. You will not hear about this from Mr. Metcalf. Democrat G e n e Wu ( k n o w n f o r leading all of the Democrats to abandon and flee the Texas House of Representatives like cowards) announced the breakout deal he made. Democrat Wu was pleased to make the announcement which he could not have done without the votes, or support of his colleague leaders like Mr. Metcalf who together with his friend Mr. Phelan are known for defecting from the Republican House Caucus, while working with Democrats in exchange for their votes. A vote for Will Metcalf and Anne Kate will likely further the Democrats efforts to turn the Texas House of Representatives over to the Democrats. Anne Kate is on record at the North Shore Republican Women's meeting declaring that Donald Trump, not Donald Duck, endorses Will Metcalf! Are you kidding me Annie? Wake up and smell the coffee! On October 9, 2021 Donald Trump expressed criticism toward the Texas House of Representatives (which included Will Metcalf) and specifically called out former Speaker Dade Phelan whom Will Metcalf is on record calling a good friend; and, by the way also walked out on Republicans to vote with his friend Will and their Democrat colleagues resulting in more power and money for the Democrats budget. Donald Trump compared Will Metcalf's good friend Dade Phelan to Mitch McConnell and urged the passage of Senate Bill 47, which would allow for election audits in Texas. Tr u m p c r i t i c i z e d Wi l l Metcalf's good friend Dade Phelan for not advancing the bill and labeled him a "weak RINO" (Republican in name only). I think Anne Kate Precint 72 Chair needs to recheck the facts! And, on May 27, 2023 Trump again criticized Metcalf's good friend Dade Phelan, denouncing the Texas House's impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton. Trump called Will Metcalf's good friend Dade Phelan a "RINO Speaker" who wanted to impeach a loyal Trump ally. Contrary to Anne Kate's statement, this hardly sounds like a Trump endorsement. Some, not all, North Shore R e p u b l i c a n Wo m e n “Metcalf Mouthpieces”

Democrats couldn't ask for better supporters than Anne Kate and Will Metcalf. “Birds of a Feather Flock Together” In fact, Donald Trump expressed criticism toward the Texas House of Representatives, particularly through his comments about former Speaker Dade Phelan in his Truth Social post, when he harshly criticized Phelan for leading the failed impeachment of Republican Attorney General Ken P a x t o n , a Tr u m p a l l y, describing the impeachment as “fraudulent” and an “absolute embarrassment”! Trump also accused Phelan of blocking legislation for voter integrity. Why Anne Kate thinks Trump supports Will Metcalf or Phelan makes no sense, unless she is a Democrat. One of the North Shore R e p u b l i c a n Wo m e n ' s “Standing Committees” is the “Campaign Activities Committee”. And, one of its stated mission purposes is to “Promote Republican Party candidates by keeping NSRW members informed of all campaign activities”. Unfortunately, Anne Kate may not have read this part of her “RINO” responsibilities to honestly and openly inform all Christian Conservative men and women of all party candidates including Jon Bouche who does not support Anne Kate's left wing Will Metcalf or his friend Dade Phelan both of whom voted to impeach Ken Paxton and have a history of voting with Democrats resulting in extended power for Democrats and diminished roles for true Conservative Christian Republican women and their campaign activities. Governor Abbott in a notice he sent to Montgomery, County voters actually denounced Metcalf's intended actions before he voted with the Democrats which resulted in giving more power to the Democrats in the Texas House and prevented Republican State Representatives from across the State of Texas from being able to serve on any committees as Vice-chairs. Contrary to Anne Kate and Will Metcalf's egotistical claims that Trump and Abbott endorse him; Governor Abbott's letter to voters in Montgomery, County made clear voters were asked by Gov. Abbott to ask Mr. Metcalf vote for David Cook, not Dustin Burrows which of course left wing Will Metcalf and Dade Phelan refused to do. Their plans to defect from the majority Republican Caucus may already have been well underway. Metcalf sought Abbott's endorsement as part of a Metcalf deal in exchange for his vote for “School Choice”. Will Metcalf tried unsuccessfully to defend charges brought against him by the Montgomery County, Republican Party. He has since called “Them Liars” referring to his own constituents.
