Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: October 14, 2023: $3.04/g (U.S. Average: $3.58/g) October 14, 2022: $3.29/g (U.S. Average: $3.90/g) October 14, 2021: $2.94/g (U.S. Average: $3.30/g) October 14, 2020: $1.87/g (U.S. Average: $2.17/g) October 14, 2019: $2.29/g (U.S. Average: $2.64/g) October 14, 2018: $2.65/g (U.S. Average: $2.88/g) October 14, 2017: $2.29/g (U.S. Average: $2.46/g) October 14, 2016: $2.01/g (U.S. Average: $2.24/g) October 14, 2015: $2.04/g (U.S. Average: $2.30/g) October 14, 2014: $3.00/g (U.S. Average: $3.17/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.87/g, up 29.2 cents per gallon from last week's $2.57/g. San Antonio- $2.82/g, up 19.0 cents per gallon from last week's $2.63/g. Austin- $2.83/g, up 18.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.65/g. "The national average price of gasoline has returned to a slight climb over the last week as Iran's attack on Israel has slowly funneled to the gas pump, as expected. For now, while Milton has left a third of all stations in Florida without gas, the storm itself is not impacting prices, and the situation in Florida is expected to improve," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "With oil prices recently starting to fall again, the rise we saw could end before you know it. And with restoration happening in Florida, we could start to see a decline in gas prices in the weeks ahead, with a good chance of seeing the first sub-$3 per gallon national average since 2021." The purpose of Colonial Heritage month is not only to encourage family history research but also to foster interest in historical colonial research, to assist in the education of the youth of our country and to commemorate the heroic deeds of our ancestors, the founders of our great Republic. Mayor Coon's proclamation and a display comparing colonial life styles with modern-day living, are on display in the genealogy department of the Montgomery County Central Library in Conroe. Montgomery County Lady Spearheading Hurricane Relief to North Carolina by Ruben Borjas, Jr.

Imagination was on display earlier this month in response to Hurricane Helene relief, as the daughter of a Conroe furniture store owner, leaped into action in trying to provide some comfort to the storm ravaged citizens of North Carolina. The late September storm devastated low-lying areas surrounded by mountains in the western part of the state. Sarah Bartholet Gwin, the daughter of Todd Bartholet, owner of Bartholet Home Furnishings, located on IH45 south at River Plantation Drive, was troubled by the suffering of North Carolina residents and the extensive damage to property, not to mention
