Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: September 9, 2023: $3.35/g (U.S. Average: $3.80/g) September 9, 2022: $3.14/g (U.S. Average: $3.71/g) September 9, 2021: $2.83/g (U.S. Average: $3.17/g) September 9, 2020: $1.89/g (U.S. Average: $2.19/g) September 9, 2019: $2.27/g (U.S. Average: $2.56/g) September 9, 2018: $2.60/g (U.S. Average: $2.84/g) September 9, 2017: $2.50/g (U.S. Average: $2.66/g) September 9, 2016: $1.98/g (U.S. Average: $2.18/g) September 9, 2015: $2.14/g (U.S. Average: $2.38/g) September 9, 2014: $3.23/g (U.S. Average: $3.43/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.68/g, down 8.0 cents per gallon from last week's $2.76/g. San Antonio- $2.64/g, down 21.9 cents per gallon from last week's $2.86/g. Austin- $2.69/g, down 19.8 cents per gallon from last week's $2.89/g. “Impressively, for the sixth straight week, gas prices have dropped to their lowest since winter. GasBuddy now counts 11 states and over 45,000 stations with gas prices below $3 per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “We fully expect gas prices will continue to drop as Americans drive less with the onset of fall. With oil prices falling below $70 per barrel, their lowest since 2021, there’s solid room for gas prices and diesel to continue falling for some time. We expect the national average could fall below $3 per gallon as early as October for the first time since 2021, which would be music to the ears of motorists and certainly to politicians who are angling to be elected this fall.” SOURCE GasBuddy

Stage Rights' 'The Play That Goes Wrong': Wonderfully Chaotic and Entertaining by Ruben Borjas, Jr.

Even before the play begins, you might notice little things. A playbill that depending on the way you open it, may or may not contain information about the play you came to see. Or is it? Someone may be looking for a lost dog, Waldo, which seems out of place, or you’ll see some equipment that you think should have been stowed away before the production begins. You might hear some English accents that, for some strange reason, don’t sound Texan. No, don’t adjust your television sets, you're in Montgomery County alright. It's just a little bit of an amateurish small English village stage has landed at the Crighton Theatre in Conroe. I once called ‘The Battle of Midway’ a comedy of errors, and I was hesitant even to lend a moniker to what ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ can possibly be labeled. Rube Goldberg comes closest to mind. His ‘Rube Goldberg Machine’ ideas, which have fascinated audiences since the late 1920s, have been laughfests, with their chain reaction of physical comedy to perform a simple task; and to me it perfectly suits TPTGW. It’s a murder mystery, and it does get solved in the end, but you have to go through a litany of RGM little steps (some unceasingly repeated to exhaustion), or the chain reactions, to get to the ‘whodunit.’ If you have lung issues due to laughter, bring your puffer; you're gonna need it. If you loath loud noises, bring some ear plugs. If you detest the sight of falling objects, actors, or walls? Close your eyes. If you dislike odd smells, don’t sit next to anyone who had cabbage soup for dinner; or you may encounter a little smoke from the stage. See Stage, page 5
