Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 0.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.99/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 14.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 42.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $3.72 per gallon- the lowest level since January, 2022, over 900 days ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $2.39/g yesterday while the most expensive was $3.79/g, a difference of $1.40/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $2.39/g while the highest was $3.79/g, a difference of $1.40/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.41/g today. The national average is down 11.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 42.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: August 12, 2023: $3.42/g (U.S. Average: $3.83/g) August 12, 2022: $3.44/g (U.S. Average: $3.94/g) August 12, 2021: $2.86/g (U.S. Average: $3.18/g) August 12, 2020: $1.87/g (U.S. Average: $2.18/g) August 12, 2019: $2.38/g (U.S. Average: $2.64/g) August 12, 2018: $2.62/g (U.S. Average: $2.85/g) August 12, 2017: $2.15/g (U.S. Average: $2.35/g) August 12, 2016: $1.96/g (U.S. Average: $2.12/g) August 12, 2015: $2.37/g (U.S. Average: $2.59/g) August 12, 2014: $3.28/g (U.S. Average: $3.47/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.97/g, down 10.4 cents per gallon from last week's $3.08/g. San Antonio- $3.06/g, up 17.7 cents per gallon from last week's $2.88/g. Austin- $3.07/g, up 13.7 cents per gallon from last week's $2.94/g. “As summer driving season comes to a gradual close, we continue to see gasoline prices declining in most of the country as demand remains muted. Incredibly, the drop has also caused diesel fuel prices to crumble to their lowest level since before Russia's invasion of Ukraine," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "As long as we can avoid a major hurricane threatening refineries in the Gulf region, I believe we could see declines continue into this week, with the national average potentially dipping to its lowest level of the summer. However, should economic data come in better than expected, there still could be a short-lived rally. While some states may also see gas prices rise to routine price cycling, primarily in the Great Lakes and Florida, prices across the board remain lower in every state compared to a year ago." Conroe sculptress Lyn Howard and Members of the Conroe City Council gather around the bust of Isaac Conroe following the city council meeting on August 8th. LtoR: Howard Wood, Shana Arthur, David Hairel, Lyn Howard, Duke Coon, and Harry Hardman by Ruben Borjas, Jr There is no doubt that Issac Conroe, the founder of Conroe’s Switch, has made a big difference into t h e m a k e u p o f Montgomery County, and Socialite Lyn HawthorneHoward, has taken it upon herself to recognize the man in 3-D form, by presenting a bronze bust of Mr. Conroe to the City
Council during their regular meeting held on August 8th. The bust will be placed in the Conroe Tower’s Visitor Center near council chambers at a later date. Howard has been a long time supporter of Isaac Conroe and his legacy. Lyn and her husband Carl, purchased the Conroe former homestead located at Ave A & North First
seven years ago, restored it, and inaugurated the Annual Founder ’ Day ceremony in front of the residence. Howard, a local entrepreneur and auctioneer, found a hobby in sculpting, and after completing busts of her husband, President Donald Trump; and her latest triumph is of the town’s founder, will no doubt be a local destination for local
citizens and visitors to see when visiting downtown Conroe. “I fell in love with the spirit of Isaac Conroe, and what he has done, and I feel it should be recognized,” said Howard. ”We are unique in that the City of Conroe is the only town named Conroe in The World.” See DIVE , page 2
