Prices in Texas are 4.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.6 cents in the last week and stands at $4.06 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $1.87/g yesterday while the most expensive was $4.32/g, a difference of $2.45/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $1.87/g while the highest was $4.32/g, a difference of $2.45/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.24/g today. The national average is up 13.3 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 9.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: February 26, 2023: $2.86/g (U.S. Average: $3.33/g) February 26, 2022: $3.26/g (U.S. Average: $3.59/g) February 26, 2021: $2.41/g (U.S. Average: $2.71/g) February 26, 2020: $2.16/g (U.S. Average: $2.45/g) February 26, 2019: $2.15/g (U.S. Average: $2.41/g) February 26, 2018: $2.27/g (U.S. Average: $2.51/g) February 26, 2017: $2.06/g (U.S. Average: $2.28/g) February 26, 2016: $1.51/g (U.S. Average: $1.73/g) February 26, 2015: $2.16/g (U.S. Average: $2.34/g) February 26, 2014: $3.20/g (U.S. Average: $3.43/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.87/g, down 4.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.92/g. San Antonio- $2.73/g, down 15.9 cents per gallon from last week's $2.89/g. Austin- $2.77/g, down 14.4 cents per gallon from last week's $2.92/g. “Motorists have finally seen a bit of a break in the recent rise in the national average, with more states seeing drops than increases in the last week. While the pause has certainly been nice, this is more like a rain delay than it is a 7th inning strech," said Patrick De Haan, head of rjas Jr petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "It's likely only a matter of time before we see the rise re-engage and prices start to head higher, but we'll take any break that we can. Oil prices have shown some signs of struggling last week after coming within arms reach of $80 per barrel before falling closer to $76, but all eyes are on refiners as utilization remained seasonally weak, around 80% of capacity, meaning there's less gasoline and diesel being produced. That's why it's just a matter of time before prices collide with rising demand and start to accelerate again." SOURCE GasBuddy

Overcome Challenges

Toledo Bend Team

by MCN contributing writer, Mark Hooker This was just one of the many challenges facing the M I S D F i s h i n g Te a m Anglers as they descended u p o n To l e d o B e n d Reservoir. Do we try to locate and catch Bass “Shallow or Deep?” Also, part of the puzzle was how the Team would avoid the extreme amount of pressure on the lake in the form of numerous tournaments held on this expansive body of water

l o c a t e d o n t h e Te x a s Louisiana border. The main concern, how to not get in the way of the Bassmaster Elite Series Professional circuit, all the while trying to expand the Team's lead in the highly competitive Houston Division of the Texas High School Bass Association. The Team was successful on both accounts, steering clear of causing any issues with the Elite Pros, and

successfully expanding their lead by winning the event as a Program with their 3rd win of the Divisional Season. Coupled with the Team's 2nd place finish at Sam Rayburn, the Team now has a sizeable lead going into the final Divisional Tournament of the season next month at Lake Conroe. Leading the way for MISD was the Team of Ryan Ducharme and Jacob

King. This pair brought in a nice 5 fish limit that tipped the scales at 14.01 pounds, landing them in 3rd place out of 151 Individual Teams, from 20 Houston Area High S c h o o l s . .” Coming in 5th with a limit weighing 12.84 pounds were Colton Hatzold & Jett Moore. See MISD, page 10

In a recent presser, MISD Board of Trustees decided to renew their partnership with Local Law Enforcement Agencies. The press release dated February 20th, highlighted a MISD P o l i c e D e p a r t m e n t ’s “Memorandum of Understanding" agreement with the other law enforcement agencies that have concurrent jurisdictions within district boundaries, including Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, City of Montgomery Police, Montgomery County Constables, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. “Safety is our top priority for students and staff, so we are very thankful that each of our MISD campuses has at least one dedicated officer and the additional support of local law enforcement agencies due to this agreement,” said Board President Laurie Turner. “In addition to keeping our buildings safe, our officers serve as role models and mentors, building positive relationships with our students and staff.” Turner went on to say that MISD PD officers are highly trained, dedicated professionals and the district is fortunate that every MISD campus benefits from their service. The MISD Police Department collaborates with local law enforcement agencies and has established protocols and procedures for a wellcoordinated response in the event of an emergency. “Montgomery ISD’s Police Department is proud of this important partnership with neighboring law enforcement agencies,” noted MISD Police Chief Rickey Doerre. “As school districts across Texas strengthen campus safety and security measures and protocols, the district is always glad to assist these agencies and we are grateful for the reciprocal support. Doerre also noted that the partnership enhances MISD PD’s ability to protect and serve MISD
