over the last week following President Trump's speech at the World Economic Forum, where he urged Saudi Arabia to lower oil prices by restoring production. The downturn in oil has caused gas prices to stabilize for the time being, with crude now more than $5 per barrel below where it was a couple of weeks ago," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "As we approach the February 1 deadline for potential U.S. tariffs on Canada and Mexico— key sources of crude oil imports— we'll be monitoring for any potential impact, including the possibility of retaliatory tariffs. For now, I remain hopeful that tariffs won't materialize, and gas prices could stay relatively stable over the next few weeks, at least until the seasonal rise in prices begins in mid-to-late February." From eleven a.m. until one o’clock p.m. on January 20th, 2025 awesome was the scene in the Great Hall off Lone Star Parkway in Montgomery, Texas, filled to overflowing with predominantly African Americans. Electrifying was the atmosphere, as the agenda and program featured the illusion of standing s p e l l b o u n d a t Washington’s Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963. There, awestruck, one could have witnessed Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his epic “I have a dream” speech. Embellishing the scene at Montgomery were

presentations of both speeches and music. Especially exhilarating was the music, as the whole assembly became rhythmically engaged to the mood and tone of the occasion. Hands clapped as many rose to their feet with voices echoing the message of freedom common to the various presentations. That message of freedom found r e f e r e n c e i n K i n g ’s interpretation in his dream speech of the US Declaration of Independence of 1776. Witness King’s words on that austere occasion: “The Constitution and Declaration of independence was a promise that all men . . . would be guaranteed the

‘unalienable rights’ of life, liberty and the p u r s u i t o f happiness.” K i n g ’s s p e e c h demonstrated his understanding that “unalienable” m e a n s a n unshakable gift from the God of Perfection, as in “all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with c e r t a i n ‘unalienable’ rights.’” Reference to “unalienable rights” exhibits affinity to the Lord’s statement in Isaiah 1:18 to “come let us reason

On January 24, 2025, four Precinct 1 Constable's Office Mental Health and Crisis Intervention Team members were recognized at the Nation Alliance on Mental Illness ( NAMI ) First Responders Luncheon last week. Deputies Buddy Kellum, Stacie Martin, Eddie Trevino, and Sergeant Tray Booher were recognized for their outstanding response to a citizen having a mental health crisis who was armed with a firearm. These deputies deescalated the scene without incident or injury. Constable Cash is exceptionally proud of the efforts and professionalism of the Precinct 1 Mental Health Deputies and other law enforcement agencies at the scene that day. Without the use of de-escalation, this scene could have ended much differently, and I am proud of the hard work these deputies do every day for our community! Please join us in congratulating these Deputies Kellum, Martin, Trevino, and Sergeant Booher on a job well done!

Gov. Abbott Directs DPS To Deploy Tactical Strike Teams To Support Homeland Security Operations

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to deploy tactical strike teams to support the Trump Administration’s homeland security operations to locate and arrest criminal illegal immigrants in the state. “Texas is expanding our operations to assist President Donald Trump to protect Americans and enforce the rule of law,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to deploy tactical strike teams to work alongside our federal partners to enforce immigration laws throughout the state. These teams will coordinate with Homeland Security agencies to track down the thousands of illegal immigrants with active warrants across Texas and deport them from our country. After four years of failed policies, Texas finally has a partner in President Trump. Together, we will end this crisis and make America safe once again.” The DPS tactical strike teams will coordinate with the newly established Homeland Security Task Force to together.” Reasoning in leverage personnel and the Biblical sense is based resources to identify and arrest the nearly 5,400 illegal immigrants with active See MLK, page 2 warrants from local jurisdictions across Texas.
