MONROECOUNTYYMCA SUMMER CAMP

Dear Campers and Families,

Thank you for voting us the 2025 Best of B-Town winner for the Best Summer Camp Program! We are thrilled and honored to be your Official Community Choice.

In 2026, we look forward to watching your child grow as a camper this summer while playing games, swimming, and fostering life-skills! Our goal during Monroe County Y Summer Camp is to provide a fun experience full of activities to help our campers build relationships and foster a sense of personal achievement in an atmosphere that reinforces the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. As an award-winning program, we are confident Summer Camp will be a highlight of your child’s year!

Our counselors are wonderful role models, selected based on their experience, attitude, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm. They genuinely care about the individual development of each camper, and every counselor will serve as a guide to live and work together as a community throughout the summer. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified, and are additionally trained in risk management, child abuse prevention, behavior management, character development, and team building.

The following catalog contains our full range of offerings and information to better prepare your child for their camp experience. Please refer to the Parent Guide leading up to camp as a reminder and update on what to expect in greater detail. Also, please don’t hesitate to contact our Camp Leadership Team directly via email with any questions you have regarding camp. We look forward to working together and embarking on your camper’s summer adventure!

Sincerely,

The Y camp was a bright spot - she was excited to go every day, and I knew she was in safe hands. I’m so thankful for the whole staff and particularly her counselors who gave her a great summer.

I was extremely impressed with everything. The counselors were great with my son even when he had behavioral issues, my son loved the programs, and I thought everything ran smoothly and exceeded expectations. Even with the [Southeast] Y having many more kids, pickup did not take forever. Much love to all the staff for making these camps happen! I don’t know what I would have done without them this year. Thank you so much.

Camp leadership has been amazing. This is my son’s third summer and he is excited to go to camp every morning.

WINNER

He had a great day and made new friends on his first visit.

TWEEN & TEEN

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING

Counselor-in-Training teaches teens the job skills necessary to be a counselor and strong employee.

Counselor-in-Training is a one-week camp that is designed to teach our oldest campers the ins and outs of being a camp counselor at the Monroe County YMCA Summer Camp. The first half of the camp day consists of various trainings, workshops, activities, lessons, team building, and regular camp fun with the intention to give knowledge about how and what it’s like to be a counselor. During the second half of the camp day, each CIT will be placed in a camp group to shadow a lead counselor and practice what they have learned. The camp environment provides a unique opportunity for youth to build leadership skills, particularly in assisting counselors with younger campers. Counselors-in-Training (CITs) are provided first-hand experience working with campers and the opportunity to cultivate skills and knowledge in the day camp setting. CITs only get placed into 4-8 year old groups. Space is limited. Ages 14-15.
