SELECTED WORKS - MOLLY KOLEOSHO
University

After receiving my Bsc in Architecture, I hope to receive a degree apprenticeship so that I can study for a Masters whilst gaining real world experience. But overall, I want to expand my knowledge in the field by surrounding myself with like-mind people and explore different styles of architecture and design.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

An exploration of the process from my first concept idea to my last final plan. Through a lot of trial and error and reevaluationg each sketch, I was able to create a plan that suits the needs of my user group.

To empower neurodivergent children by fostering an inclusive, vibrant learning environment that celebrates diversity, creativity, and self-expression. Our school embraces the spirit of Nuneaton’s street art scene, inspiring students to explore their unique voices through art, collaboration, and community engagement. We envision a world where every child feels valued, understood, and encouraged to shine, bringing color and creativity to their own lives and the world around them.

This vision captures the inclusive and creative ethos you’re aiming for, while emphasizing the connection to the local street art culture as a source of inspiration and expression for students. Let me know if you’d like to add anything

The Frederick Gibbard library is the main building that will be retrofitted to make my neurodivergent school. have done various amounts of research on the background of the library, including sketches, plans, elevations and models of the existing library. The library is designed as two distinct blocks, each performing a different function. The main building, which is the library proper, is a large rectangular, single-storey structure, accommodating the lending reference and other large rooms. Adjoining it is a two storey wing containing miscellaneous accommodation such as reading, lecture and staff rooms. Externally the building consists of load bearing walls and a reconstructed stone-faced concrete piers alternating with timber windows (which are currently being replaced), which are carried to the ground so that the library’s activities can be seen from the outside and instills a sense of inclusion with the othe residents. Above this wall and window system is a deep frieze faced with light grey mosaic and pierced by semi-circular clerestory windows, which form an unbroken rhythm round the whole building and open inwards as a formof ventilation especially during summer. Though now there is air conditioning on the roof On the entrance front the semi-circular windows are projected forward in the form of barrel vaults over the metal and glass entrance lobby. The shelves were made using West African mahogany. On the south side of the building, there is an art mural that has been done by Nuneaton’s younger population.

PLANS + SECTIONS + DETAILS

My beginning concepts were more rigid, and had a more simple structure with a flexible circulation between the classrooms. Neurodivergent children tend to not like tight corners so I tried to excerise that level flexibility had in the interior, on the exterior - resulting in a more organic building shape.

02 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

Digbeth is known for its cultural diverse community and is one of the most talked about wards in Birmingham. My proposal aims to improve on weaknesses found in Digbeth, such as vast vegetation, and also highlight the strengths in this community and bring it closer together by providing a multigenerational accommodation for all, exposing them to communal areas in the hopes that this will make a better and brighter Digbeth for all to enjoy.

This project I designed a residential building to highlight the multigenerational community found in Digbeth. My design is a 5 floor building with each floor having a slightly different features.

03 RIVERSIDE PARK + CREATIVE

CLUSTER

This manifesto aims to outline a vision for the remaking of Digbeth’s urbanscape. Digbeth, with its rich history and vibrant culture, deserves a thoughtful and inclusive transformation that honors its past while embracing the future. This proposal takes a holistic approach that considers heritage preservation and adapting to the architectural style that contribute to the community’s character; also prioritising environmental sustainability and the integration of open green spaces. In addition, supporting local artists and musicians to thrive in the area’s unique identity. Overall, plan to reshape Digbeth into a model urban community that inspires and enriches the lives of its diverse residents.

In this project, will be designing a riverside park along with a creative cluster. This creative cluster is a retrofit of an abandoned building suurounding the chosen site. wanted to add a large green space to a city that lacked a lot of green spaces. This includes green spaces that descend down to the river where there is a underground walk way that links to my creative cluster. The riverpark also has a pavillion, benches, bike storage for civillian use.

My creative cluster is a retrofitted art gallery with a rooftop garden. The point of this was to create a sense of community whilst also creating a sustainable green space for anyone to visit. As well as a lower cafe with access to the river. This structure promotes creativity and social behavior within the community.

Casa Taller in La Paisanita, has been designed by Agustín Berzero and Manuel Gonzalez Veglia, as a fortress dwelling emerging from the sloping terrain surrounding Córdoba, Argentina. The home takes shape as an austere contrast to its lush, natural context while offering a poetic retreat for living, working, and writing away from the city. The spirit of the project lies in its ‘juxtaposition of opposites.’ The lower portion exhibits imposing weightiness, while the upper portion is perched lightly atop a series of stilts. This duality allows the structure to engage with its surroundings in two distinct ways, while its reinforced concrete construction creates a monolithic presence, a threshold between the earth and the sky.
