MODS hosted the Bear Hugs for Special Kids event in conjunction with Gilda’s Club South Florida, an organization offering support to people impacted by cancer. On July 20, more than 150 children with cancer and their families enjoyed the IMAX documentary film Great Bear Rainforest along with popcorn and beverages. All children received a plush Build A Bear teddy bear to take home. Julianna Sanjuan, MSW, registered clinical social worker intern and program manager with Gilda’s Club South Florida, shared, “I am just bursting with gratitude over the event!” This event was made possible by Victoria Kirby, a long-time Leonardo da Vinci Society member and generous MODS supporter, and Build a Bear.

MODS hosted the Read. Create. Play! event, which provided community groups including B6C with the opportunity to learn and create from author, teacher and comic book artists Ramon “Absoloot” Robinson and Chavis Davis. Through these three interactive mini comic book workshops, children learned the importance of resilience, confidence and embracing their own talents. A Junior & Rubble comic book was distributed to each child through the Reading is Lit program. This program was made possible by BBX Capital Foundation.
