PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The Mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is Connecting People to Inspiring Science.

WELCOME TO THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR!

Get ready for a year of imagination, innovation and discovery! MODS is your trusted partner for hands-on STEM learning that sparks curiosity and deepens classroom instruction. Our exhibits and programs support core subjects while building skills in literacy, the arts and wellness.

This year, we’re proud to be one of just 23 U.S. museums selected by the Lilly Endowment’s Fostering Character Through Children’s Museums initiative. With this major support, we’re developing Build a Better World, a new exhibit opening in 2026 that will inspire children to understand climate science, create resilience solutions and strengthen themselves and their communities.

At MODS, character development is an essential part of STEM. By weaving in traits like cooperation, caring, confidence and critical thinking, we turn exploration into opportunities for personal growth— empowering learners to become problem-solvers, environmental stewards and compassionate leaders. Through real-world challenges like sustainability, we inspire civic engagement that shapes well-rounded individuals who lead with both heart and mind.

New experiences can be found throughout the Museum. Explore the Nature Explore: Outdoor Exhibit, connect with the past in our HoloTheater with Dinosaur Discoveries: A Holographic Adventure or journey through the universe in the GeoDome Planetarium, with shows for every grade level. Bring the MODS experience to your school with the STEMobile—offering makerspace challenges, laboratory experiences and a GeoDome portable planetarium. Title I schools may qualify for free experiences. See page 4 for Supplemental Arts and Sciences Program details.

Whether you’re planning a field trip or an in-school program, MODS is here to spark curiosity and support impactful learning all year long.

To inspiring science and infinite discovery,

Build a Better World

OPENING FALL 2026

Get ready for a new adventure in building a brighter future! As Broward’s Hub for Resilience Education, MODS is taking a giant leap forward with the launch of Build a Better World—a permanent experience that inspires children to take meaningful action on one of today’s most pressing issues: climate challenges.

At the center of this exhibit is a powerful question: How can a child help build a better world? The answer starts with character by exploring four core traits that strengthen resilience in a changing world: critical thinking, caring, cooperation and confidence.

Through immersive exhibits and opportunities for personal reflection, guests will see how building better humans leads to building a better future. Build a Better World is more than an exhibit—it’s a movement rooted in hope and designed to inspire action.
