From the editor Edition 29 (Part 2) November 2017 Modellenland Magazine is a fresh, new submissionbased editorial publication that celebrates the true art of fashion and the emerging artists behind it.

Modellenland is a Free Belgian magazine but we accept also entries from other countries. Everybody can publish for free ,photographers, MUA, stylists, models, good amateur, students, semiprofessional, professional etc... The focus will not only be on fashion, but food, lifestyle, animals, landscapes, are also welkom.

Modellenland Magazine is a fashion, beauty, editorial and conceptual art magazine and will be published monthly. The goal is to show our submitters their portfolio worldwide to model and PR-agencies, and brand labels.

Modellenland will focus on creative minds from all over the fashion world. It will be a magazine for aspiring artists who deserve recognition for their work. Cover Girl: Mathilde Warnier (Belgium) Que pouvez-vous nous dire sur vous? Avant tout, je suis étudiante en lettres à l’Université de Liège, en 3ème année de bachelier. Je suis également modèle, mais ma passion pour la littérature s’illustre à travers certaines de mes photos, que je prends avec mon appareil argentique Chinon. La photo est pour moi beaucoup plus qu’une passion : c’est une échappatoire. Elle me permet de faire passer des messages que je considère comme importants ou d’évacuer mes angoisses. J’ai grandi dans une famille aimante et concernée, qui m’a toujours soutenue dans mes projets photographiques. J’ai une relation très fusionnelle avec mon entourage : ils sont mes repères. Si vous pouviez changer quelque de vous , qu'est-ce que cela serait? Je pense sincèrement qu’il ne faut pas tenter de changer ce que nous sommes, à moins que ce soit pour devenir une « meilleure version » de soi-même. Mais puisque vous me le demandez, je répondrais mon hyper sensibilité, qui peut être perçue comme une qualité, mais qui est parfois difficile à vivre au quotidien ! Une simple chanson, un film, une image, peut faire couler un torrent de larmes et me plonger dans un long questionnement. Quelles sont vos qualités personnelles qui vous distinguent des autres? Il est toujours difficile de se trouver des qualités, et surtout de les admettre. Mais je dirais que j’ai su faire preuve de persévérance alors que beaucoup tentaient de me décourager. Enfant, j’ai fait face à des moqueries concernant mon visage, que les autres trouvaient étrange. J’aurais pu m’arrêter là, mais j’ai tenté de tirer le positif de cette différence. Par ailleurs, je m’obstine toujours, lorsque ça me tient tellement à coeur, pour arriver à l’objectif que je me suis fixé. Il est important pour moi de me dire, en regardant en arrière, que j’ai fait le maximum. Quelles sont vos meilleurs expériences jusqu'à présent? Mon premier shoot avec Rudy Lamboray reste le souvenir d’une révélation. Le stress était très présent, mais n’a jamais pu surpasser le plaisir. Une autre excellente expérience fut ma rencontre, grâce à Rudy, avec Sophie Hornard, qui est devenue tellement plus qu’une photographe à mes yeux. La photo, c’est aussi cet aspect : les rencontres, qui sont souvent enrichissantes, parfois merveilleuses. Je pense notamment à Samuel Jacob, dont la qualité du travail m’a convaincue à me lancer dans le nu. Une autre étape dans mon parcours a été ma collaboration avec le coiffeur Mike Carpino pour sa collection, qui m’a ensuite permis d’entrer en contact avec la styliste Ariane Lespire, pour qui j’ai posé à deux reprises. Très récemment, j’ai eu l’opportunité de défiler lors de la Lux Fashion Week aux côtés de la styliste Vinciane Collignon, et cette expérience était un couronnement. -4-

Comment avez-vous commencé à être modèle? J’ai commencé le monde de l’image par du cinéma, même si j’étais intéressée par la photo depuis longtemps. En 2013, j’ai campé un second rôle dans le court-métrage « Vertiges » d’Arnaud Dufeys. Cette expérience m’a permis de faire de nombreuses rencontres, dont l’actrice Sophie Breyer, qui avait été photographiée par un certain Rudy Lamboray… Ce même Rudy qui, peu après, me contactait pour un shoot. C’était une première : j’étais flattée, mais aussi angoissée. Ce fut le début d’une grande aventure mais aussi d’une passion. Que pensez-vous de votre travail en tant que modèle? Je conçois avant tout mon activité de modèle comme une activité de comé-dienne. L’important, c’est de camper le rôle adapté aux besoins du photographe. Ainsi, je peux, sur mes images, être quelqu’ un que je ne suis absolument pas dans la vie. J’ai la chance (ou la malchance, vous en jugerez) d’avoir un visage très expressif : je ne peux rien cacher !Dans les contextes artistiques, je souhaite que mes photos provoquent une émotion forte à celui qui les regarde, qu’elles le fassent réfléchir, éventuellement.

Comment voyez-vous la beauté ? Selon moi, la beauté se cache dans la différence. Elle ne comporte aucun critère. C’est l’idée que j’ai développée au fur et à mesure de mes expériences, et celle que je tente de transmettre à ma jeune soeur. J’estime qu’il faut tirer parti de ce qui nous différencie, de ce qui pourrait être perçu comme un défaut, et en faire son arme de réussite. Un défaut assumé peut se transformer en qualité : la confiance joue beaucoup. C’est ainsi que j’admire une agence telle que Wanted Models, qui met en avant les physiques « hors du commun ». Je suis plutôt contre les processus de retouche, en post traitement, qui modifient le modèle : je pense que ce qui fait partie d’elle ou lui, un grain de beauté, un nez en trompette, doit rester intact pour préserver l’authenticité de sa beauté. Plus généralement, il me semble que, pour voir la beauté, il faut la regarder avec des yeux bienveillants, la rechercher. Grande fanatique des paysages montagnards, je suis chaque année éblouie par la beauté majestueuse de la nature, aussi parce que je suis dans un moment de sérénité dans mon esprit, entourée par mon père et mes soeurs. Cet optimisme, cette bonne humeur ambiante ouvre mon regard, qui tente alors de recevoir chaque parcelle de beauté qui l’entoure. Je peux l’apercevoir dans le regard des gens que j’aime, dans un paysage ou dans le son d’un rire. Quels sont vos projets pour l’avenir? Le temps a passé depuis mon premier shoot, et j’ai maintenant des opportunités que je n’aurais jamais pu, au commencement, imaginer : d’ici quelques jours, je participerai à mon premier shooting à l’étranger, à Nancy, pour une marque de lingerie. La lingerie est un domaine qui m’attire de plus en plus. D’autres projets m’attendent à Paris. Ces premiers contrats hors de la Belgique sont un accomplissement pour moi. Après avoir défilé pour Vinciane Collignon, l’un de mes principaux objectifs est de prouver qu’on peut réussir dans le monde de la mode en étant petite (je ne mesure qu’un mètre soixante quatre !), malgré les diktats. Je voudrais que d’autres jeunes femmes et hommes qui possèdent d’autres atouts ne correspondant pas à ceux-ci se lancent dans l’aventure.

Photographer Olga Kruglova Tell us something about yourself. My name is Olya, I'm 31 years old, I'm from Ukraine. I love my country and Kiev - this is my home, only in Kiev I have a tasty meal, regardless of whether it's sushi or pasta, steak or dessert, while I do not like Ukrainian cuisine) How and when did you get into photography? We have always had photo equipment in my family and I always took pictures as well as I could. But becoming the mother of 2 wonderful twins, I always wanted to capture the moment, but I could not - in focus all the time was not what I wanted, and the children were blurred. I concluded that the problem is in the camera. I changed both the camera and several lenses, but the problem remained. So I got to my first photography school, after there were many more courses, master classes, workshops. What does photography mean to you? I was inspired by the world of photography and I completely changed my activities and profession What has been your most memorable session and why? There were no failures in my career, but I think they are not avoided. Only those who do nothing are protected from failures. There were shooting, which went not as you would like - the background turned out to be not as cool as it seemed or clothes did not fit, the location did not match the declared Think you in advance what you want in the picture? I would like to say that the well-coordinated work of all the team members makes the photo unforgettable, but in fact, photography is magic) - 14 -

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? I'm inspired by people or places. It happens that you see a person, some of its features and understand exactly how to shoot, what exactly you need to show. While shooting, I try to maintain a friendly and cheerful atmosphere, it's easier to work with models and me. Some crazy stories have not happened to me, I always try to think ahead of time and have checked Studio, on location or both? When I first got acquainted with the photo, I could not understand who at all can like to shoot in photo studios ?! But now I love shooting in the studio. In the studio, you can do everything, you control everything, you do not depend on many factors. I also like to travel and shoot at new locations, in nature. In the world there are so many amazing places) Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I shoot by the camera Nikon D4s + Nikkor 24-70 2,8F, 50 1,8F, 105 2,8F, 70-200 2,8F What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Kannst du uns ein wenig über dich selbst erzählen? Hey! Mein Name ist Melanie ich bin 23 Jahre alt und komme aus dem schönen Niederösterreich. In meiner Freizeit verbringe ich viel Zeit mit meinen Liebsten und natürlich auch vor der Kamera. Wie bist zu zum Modeln gekommen? Ich wurde von einem Fotografen angeschrieben ob ich nicht Lust habe ein paar Fotos zu machen und so folgte ein Shooting nach dem anderen. Wenn du etwas bei dir selbst ändern könntest, was wäre das? Das ist eine schwere Frage.. Ich denke es gibt niemanden der nicht gerne etwas an sich ändern würde.. Dennoch sollte man mit sich selbst zufrieden sein… denn jeder Mensch ist auf seine eigene Art und Weise einzigartig. Was denkst du über die Arbeit als Model? Es steckt auf jeden Fall viel Arbeit und Disziplin dahinter mir macht es sehr viel Spaß vor der Kamera zu stehen und ich bin froh diese vielen Erfahrungen gemacht zu haben. Was ist dein Schönheitsgeheimnis? Viel Schlaf und viel Wasser trinken :) Was sind deine persönlichen Eigenschaften, die dich von anderen unterscheiden? Definitiv mein Humor, meine Zielstrebigkeit und mein Hang zum Perfektionismus. Was sind deine Pläne für die Zukunft? Noch viele weitere Shootings mit coolen Fotografen zu absolvieren. Tell us something about yourself. Hello everybody, my name is Francesco Buonsante, but when I am an artist, I am Franz Messina. The reason for my pen name? To represent my dichotomy, as a professor in a school in my real life and as a passionate about photography in my parallel reality. I am 36 and I live in Bergamo, a small town near Milan. How and when did you get into photography? I approached photography indirectly when I was busy in musical entertainments and events, on radio and television together with two dear friends of mine. Due to this job, I often had to pay the photographer's expenses, but frankly speaking, I didn't understand the reasons for all that money! As I do not like spending without understanding the real value of what is done, even without having taken pictures before, I decided to try. What does photography mean to you? For me photography is a stimulus for improvement. For me photography is creation. It is the way to communicate what I see beautiful in the world. For me photography is a cure and illness. "Photography causes addiction and I suffer from it"' Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I'm a portraitist. I have a minimalist photo style. I prefer black and white, but I also realize color portraits. I find the black and white representative of what I feel in my heart. The face is always predominant in my photos, both when I use the natural light, and the flash light. I love experimenting and trying to communicate the empathy that comes with the portrayed model. Where do you get inspiration from? I get It from paintings and fashion, looking at pictures in the art galleries and giving a look at the photographs published by the magazines. I do not look at social networks as a source of inspiration, unless it is something about accomplished photographers. I love observing the works of the great past and present, from Avedon and Mapplethorpe to Testino and Luigi and Iango. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? I try to keep everything under control, studying my set in advance, but also leaving the heart to intervene. I know what kind of photos I want with my head, but I get them with my heart. Studio, on location or both? At the beginning of my photographic path, I preferred to take photos outside. Now I take photo in studio and in my small home studio that I call "Roombox". The next step will be to return to outdoor locations. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I consider myself a hobbyist, but with a professional approach to photography. If somebody asks me if I'm a photographer, I just say "No, I'm not a photographer, I just take photos". - 40 -

What has been your most memorable session and why? The most memorable session for me was that with Valeria Edith Maselli, because she was able to convey peace, calm, and awareness of my means. Thanks to her, I know I can do what I have in my heart. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? My dissatisfaction and self-criticism are my greatest source of inspiration. For me, every success is a step of a longer way. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I use Nikon and I alternate lenses: the 85mm lens with the 50mm lens. Sometimes I love experiencing portraits with unusual focal lengths. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? My advice is not to be in a hurry, not just to think about the celebration of their own achievements, not to base their growth only on what the others think of him. Can you tell us a little about you? Hi, I'm Kayla, bitter-honey in art and i work as a model, I pose for different photo styles but I am specialized in set mode and ambient portraits.. My nick name expresses a contrast between sweetness and bitterness with a veil of mystery ... but I prefer this to be partly revealed through my pictures .. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would not change anything. Maybe my excessive sensitivity. How did you start modeling? A photographer noticed me during a fashion show and I discovered my talent and my passion for interpretation photography. After a disappointment in my private life, however, I discovered my passion for photographic art by devoting myself to it very intensely ... and found out my ability of iterpretation. What do you think of the work as a model? It's very dynamic and stimulating but, like every artistic job, it is also unpredictable. You must start only if you are really motivated, if you are able to draw a very precise line, and in the case of photography if you love it in the artistic sense. What is your beauty regimen? I think naturalness is the key of beauty ... but there is also something unreachable and mysterious. Beauty is a mix of special treats, proportionate body, sweetness, sensuality and charm. What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I love photography. For me it a job as well as a form of total artistic expression. The difference lies in the vibe a person releases .. if it is moved by passion it will always assume different forms. What are your plans for the future? I have different projects both artistic and fashion but for now I can not reveal much, to find out you should continue following me, there will be so many surprises :-) What are some of your favorite experiences so far? It's hard to pick one in particular, let's say that every person I've worked with has given me something ... negative experiences have strengthened me and made me understand what I did not want, the positive ones left me memories of fantastic collaborative artwork with great professionals, who gave me so much both from the working and the human point of view.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? I suggest to start this job only if you are really motivated to do so, I'm talking about photography, if you love photography and you think it's art, and if you use it to communicate and not just to show your beautiful body. I also suggest to be selective and loyal to yourself and not to settle for easy opportunities, but to wait for the ones that are really meant for you. It takes patience and perseverance. A dear friend and photographer, now dead, once told me: if you do the right things, the right things will come. What do you think of the magazine? I find this magazine very interesting and well done. A valid means to increase photographic communication and to promote art and photography.

Tell us something about yourself. I am only a dreamers like many people, not only in photography world. I studied engineering and I found my work as quality manager in a rolling stock market company, leaved it after 6 years. It were not my life, no possibility to really express myself. I'm working in Milan as freelance in loss adjusting (insurance market) and starting from 2016 February I worked one year in my studio as freelance photographer. What does photography mean to you? Photography is my life, my soul, my flesh, my bones. It grows with me every day, helps me to see the humans for what they are and what they are not. It changes in me, as everything change, but sometime too quickly. For that reason, what today I think it's good, within two week could be out of my taste. I think it's quite normal, only a positive reaction, I don't seeing it in a negative key.

How and when did you get into photography? At the age of twenty I bought an old analog reflex Richo for pleasure and study. After two years of shooting and developing black and white films I leaved my hobby, also due to attend university courses. At the age of thirty I attended a photography course with Angelo Tondini in Milan, a former student of one of the most visionary American photographer, Art Kane. At the age of thirty-two I began taking photos with a digital Fuji SLR 6Mp. From that moment the photography would never be out of my life. Afterwards I began to seriously study the authors, the masters of the past and present. Today my interest is focused on boudoir and alternative/trash photography. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My aim is to communicate a message, a feeling, a concept that creates emotions. Good or bad, sweet or bitter, soft or hard always with a little touch of madness. Naked in my shots is often a provocation, but it's never a sexual purpose. I have nothing against pornography, It is a part of our life, but till today it didn't plays my chords and it didn't take a part of my photography. Where do you get inspiration from? There is not a photographer in particular who inspires me more or less then another. Newton, Avedon, Kane, Olaf, Halsman, Klein, Mapplethorpe. There are a lot of great photographers who nobody can forget or ignore. After that you have to express yourself, showing what you have inside, explain with your style an with your words, in three words "in your way". Think you in advance what you want in the picture? I usually start from an idea, but I hate thinking too much in what I have to do to realize my pictures. Most of models I usually work with are not “models”, but common people, sometimes they have never been involved in a shooting in their life. Concerning my photography, for me it is not important the location. What is really important is speak a lot with models, feel what they feel, think what they think. Studio, on location or both? I have worked every day for one year in studio, but I don't like it a lot. It's too distant from the reality, I love tell stories. My prefer location is indoor, using natural light or outdoor during the night using showcases and luminous insignia, flashed or leds light. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I have never think in me as a photographer, but only someone who loves to live and to tell stories. I know just some professional photographers and when we meet for discussing about our life, most of them told to me: “It's a pity, I have no time to express myself, I work six days on seven for my clients ”. If you do it as a work, the requirements of the clients are priority, you can not act as you would. What has been your most memorable session and why? There is not a particularly memorable shooting. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? Bukowsky said â€œPeople are the best show in the world. And you don't event pay for the ticketâ€?. I really agree with him. Watching people in different moments of their life and imagine what they feel is my biggest source of inspiration. Internet and good magazines are useful interesting sources. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon and Fuji are my cameras, from 35mm to 105 mm are my lents, I use 50mm mainly, but there isn't the best camera or the best lents of the world. If someone has nothing to communicate there are no cameras or lents, If something come out from your soul, maybe a smartphone is more than enough.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I am sorry, I really cannot help any new photographer to start with business photography career, since I am not any more in a photography business, maybe I really never felt a part of in this world. Parlez-moi de vous. Et bien bonjour, je suis un “Jeune” photographe de Bruxelles qui vient tout juste d'atteindre l'age du Christ ! je suis basé à Bruxelles du coté de Anderlecht pour ceux qui connaissent. Je me prénomme David, mais travaille sous le pseudo de “Obsulta” ! Comment et quand avez-vous commencé la photographie? J'ai commencé la photographie relativement tôt. Pendant mes études d'infographie on était amené à suivre quelques heures de photo (beurk) pour tout vous dire je détestais ça... Puis au fil des années et sans que on me force à lire tel ou tel bouquin j'ai commencé en autodidacte , puis finalement je devais avoir 20 ou 21 ans lorsque ma grand mère m'a acheté mon premier Dslr et c'est là que tout à commencé. Quel est votre but dans la photographie ? Tout d'abord j'aime que les choses soient bien faites. Ensuite, dans le style je fais, qui est donc orienté glamour, mon but est de vraiment valoriser la femme et d’ôter de la tête des gens que “glamour = vulguaire” Le glamour bien fait particulièrement beau en photo. - 110 -

Que représente pour vous la photographie ? C'est clairement un prolongement de la pensée, une concrétisation de mise en scène, imaginaire ou non, c'est raconter des histoires en une seule image, cloisonner l'éphémère pour l’éternité. Comment votre travail ce différencie-t-il des autres? Hmmm voilà une question un peu difficile, mais je pense me différencier par mes sets de lumières, j'aime beaucoup jouer de cela. Pour le reste je ne pense pas réinventer la roue. Est ce que vous préparez vos images à l'avance? Avant chaque session oui, je prépare le style d'image avec la modèle à l'avance, je lui envoi un moodbaord par mail afin qu'elle soit préparé au mieux pour le style d'attitude et expression à adopter. De manière générale pour elle je pense que c'est plus confortable de savoir où on va, plutôt que de le découvrir le jour J. Quels sont les endroits et les sujets qui vous interpellent le plus? Les endroits qui me fascinent le plus sont les couchés et levés de soleil aux quatre coins du monde !

Où puisez-vous votre inspiration? Je parcours beaucoup de livre photo, et sinon j'explore énormément ce que font les nouveaux talent sur 500PX & Instagram

Travaillez- vous vos photos et décrivez votre travail de post production? Oui oui je travaille mes photos que ce soit des analogiques ou numérique. Je passes souvent par Camera Raw (et depuis peu Capture One) et pour le post traitement j'utilise mon ami photoshop. Je travaille généralement au minimum la peau. Quel est votre préférence location ou studio? Je n'ai pas de préférence, chaque séance que je fais, je travaille en studio et en décor naturelle (intérieur) par contre shooting en extérieur très peu pour moi. Je suis méga frileux, je m'aventure sur un balcon maximum :) Qu'est ce que vous voudriez absolument photographier ? Sans trop d'hésitation Ashley Graham ! (Best Model Curvy) Quelle est la chose la plus importante que vous avez appris au fil des ans? Je dois avouer avoir beaucoup appris au niveau humain. Rencontrer toutes ces personnes forge un caractère. Je suis devenu moins naïf et beaucoup plus prévenant. Une autre chose très importante que j'ai apprise, c'est de toujours faire des images pour nous même, et pas pour monsieur et madame tout le monde. J'aime les photographe qui reste intègre et fidèle à ce qu'ils ont toujours fait. Que recherchez - vous des modèles avec qui vous travaillez ? C'est étrange à dire, mais ce que je recherche chez une modèle c'est de découvrir cette facette qu'elle n'a peut être jamais montré avant. J'aime beaucoup lorsque on ne reconnait presque pas le style et attitude qu'elle fait habituellement. Je trouve que ça accentue le coté “unique” du cliché. Quels sont vos projets futurs ou à court terme? À court comme à long terme, j'en parle maintenant depuis un moment, mais je compte me consacrer de plus en plus à la vidéo. Je suis totalement un fan inconsidéré de court métrage et clip vidéo.

Que pensez-vous de notre nouveau magazine? Je pense que ce magazine n'a plus ses preuves à faire et que c'est une excellente plateforme. Grace à elle j'ai pu découvrir de nombreux photographes et modèles! Avez - vous encore un message pour les modèles? Oui ! Tell us something about yourself. I am a photographer living outside Sydney in the Blue Mountains. My background is in Education and Engineering. How and when did you get into photography? I started photography as an accompaniment to bushwalking when I was 17 years old. I continued my love for landscape photography for around 30 years in parallel with my passion for visiting wild, remote places and for climbing. Around 10 years ago I moved into portrait photography, inspired by such artists as Dorothea Lange who documented the great depression, Irving Penn, Brian Duffy, Marc Lagrange an Peter Lindbergh. Portrait photography soon led on to shooting models - fashion, portrait, art nude and erotic genres. What does photography mean to you? My photography is my art. It is an extension of who I am. My passion. My expression. I couldnâ€™t live without it. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My current photographic work is centred on capturing something intimate of the subject. Something more intimate than nudity or any other physical aspect. A moment where there is a sense of overpowering presence. A moment of intense connection. Maybe a moment of sensuality or of experience. A moment of humanity. A moment of beauty. These are the things that fuel my creative passion and more broadly, fuel my life. Where do you get inspiration from? Mainly from the people I shoot. Externally, also from photographers I admire, like Lindbergh who has managed to successfully maintain his authenticity despite being one of the most in demand fashion photographers of the last couple of decades. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? I want to see a beautiful moment and the compelling presence of the person in front of the lens. Thatâ€™s all. For every person this is different, and people show themselves in different ways. Studio, on location or both? Hardly ever studio, often indoors and more often outdoors.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Neither. As I don’t consider making an income from photography to be any kind of indicator of success, I’m more of an artist in that the work itself is more important to me. I have commercial photography work but it is very separate from my personal artistic work. I also have a day job that pays for film and shoots. What has been your most memorable session and why? That is very hard to say as every session is memorable for different reasons. The key thing is the person who I’m working with and the experience of that connection and collaboration. But I think the most amazing thing I’ve done was recently shooting for a week in the Australian desert with wonderful art model/muse Loz Lightyear (instagram.com/lozlightyear_ artmodel). What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? Humanity and beauty. Beauty is so cliche in the classic sense but beauty is the humanity of the person manifested in both physical traits (appearance, structure, movement etc.) and also below the surface and expressed physically. My subjects are usually women as I find I can see the various aspects of being a human easier with women. Men generally have a more limited range of expression - though not always. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I use a Nikon digital camera but use a Pentax 67 and a range of other film cameras also. Favourite lens is the Pentax 105mm, f2.4. Favourite film is Kodak Tri-X What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Kannst du uns ein wenig über dich selbst erzählen? Mein Name ist Anita, ich bin 22 Jahre alt und wohne seit 12 Jahren in der wunderschönen Stadt Wien. Die erste Hälfte meines Lebens habe ich in meinem Geburtsland Ukraine verbracht. Wie bist du zum Modeln gekommen? Von alleine hätte ich wahrscheinlich nie selbst damit angefangen. Vor über drei Jahren hat ein Bekannter mich dazu überredet bei einem Modelwettbewerb mitzumachen. Dort habe ich dann den vierten Platz gemacht und danach führte das Eine zum Anreden und ich stürzte mich in das Modelleben hinein. Wenn du etwas an dir selbst ändern könntest, was wäre es? Bei mir wäre es meine Selbstkritik. Im Modelleben ist es so, dass man immer versucht sein Bestes zu geben, aber manchmal fragt man sich auch ob das Beste auch gut genug ist. Ich habe oft Zweifeln an meiner Figur gehabt, da ich weder die typische Modelgröße, noch die "9060-90" Maße habe. Inzwischen habe ich mich mit meinen kleinen Fehlern angefreundet. Was denkst du über die Arbeit als Model? Die Arbeit als Model ist sehr aufregend und abwechslungsreich. Die vielen Menschen die man kennen lernt, die Herausforderungen an denen man täglich wächst und die Erfahrungen die man macht, sind einmalig. Was ist dein Schönheitsgeheimnis? Das ist bei mir nun zwar kein Geheimnis, aber ich verrate es trotzdem gerne. An dieser Stelle würde ein riesen Dankeschön an meine Mutter gehen, da ich sehr viel von ihrer Schönheit geerbt habe. Ansonsten gibt es kein Geheimnis, ich lebe das Leben in vollen Zügen und verbiete mir fast nichts. Was sind deine persönlichen Eigenschaften, die dich von anderen unterscheiden? So was ist immer schwer zu sagen, aber ich schätze meine Wandlungsfähigkeit und meine gute Laune. Was sind die Pläne für die Zukunft? Die Pläne für die Zukunft sind noch nicht geplant. Ich lasse mich gerne immer überraschen vom Leben. Ich werde aber auf jeden Fall mit dem Modeln weiter machen und meine Freude daran haben. Was sind bisher deine schönsten Erfahrungen? Eine der Schönsten Erfahrungen ist wenn Menschen die du durch das Modeln kennen lernst zu Freunden werden. Wenn man auch Privat zusammen was unternehmen kann, ins Kino gehen kann oder auch einen gemütlichen Spieleabend machen kann. - 136 -

Tell us something about yourself. My name is Zeeshan. I am a melbourne based fashion, beauty, art and glamour photographer. How and when did you get into photography? I started photography in 2004 when I got into car racing and ended up shooting racing events, later I moved to fashion and beauty photography. What does photography mean to you? Photography has become a very important part of my life. I have been interested in art and drawing since I was a child. I used to take part in dra-wing competitions and always win. Considering my artistic nature I believe its something I enjoy the most in my life. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I believe that a photographer should undertand and know how to shoot anything under any situation. I can shoot almost any style of photography but my main areas of expertiese are fashion, beauty and sensual art (Boudoir). Where do you get inspiration from? Hard to explain. I think its what we usually observe around us. I always try to use my own imagi-nation and blend various things to achieve different results. I believe itâ€™s the way my brain works by looking at the models I work with I come up with different ideas which might suit them the best. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? Emotions, connection, expression. Photography is another medium of communication. If a photo cannot express or convey a message its useless.

Studio, on location or both? I shoot studio, location, natural light and studio light. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Certainly a paid fully developed professional photographer. I am an accredited AIPP professional photo-gapher. AIPP is the only Australian govern-ment recongised photography organisation and they approve only selective professional photographers. What has been your most memorable session and why? It was a shoot last year. High fashion, where we decided to shoot in the snow which was about 3 hours drive. Unfortunately we couldnt get to the snow in time but we shot on the side of the road and in 20 minutes shoot we managed to get some amazing photos. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? expressions and feelings Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Cannon and 70-200 F2.8 ISII What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Tell us something about yourself. My name is Michaela Kraus. I’m 23 years old and I live in Upper Austria. Besides photography traveling is one of my favourite passions. Furthermore I do a lot with my friends and family in my freetime. How and when did you get into photography? At school we had the subject “digital photography”. This aroused my curiosity, especially portrait photography inspired me. I began taking pictures of my friends. A meeting with a photographer from Linz was decisive for the step into the professional photographer business. He gave me insights and motivated me to pursue this career. Three years ago I worked with models and make-up artists for the first time. Since then I have spent every free minute behind my camera. What does photography mean to you? When I think of photography I am happy. I can be creative, I get to know so many interesting people and this is the perfect balance to the daily routine. I don’t ever want to miss this. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. It is hard to say. I have tried so much the last few years. I especially like wedding reports and portrait shoots. That’s where I feel most at home. I want to portray people as they are, capture their emotions and hold them for eternity. Where do you get your inspiration from? In most shootings I have a certain topic in my mind which I want to implement. Today’s world is full of portals like Pinte-rest and Instagram, where you can see a lot of shooting templates. Do you know in advance what the picture should look like? For orders I always have a certain idea. Once I am at the shooting I talk to the make-up artists about the image idea before we carry it out together. At outdoor shootings you have to adapt to the surrounding of course, and there you have more options. For studio shootings you have to plan every tiny detail of the picture. Studio, outdoors or both? Definitely outdoors. You have to get into the surroundings at every shooting. And that is the great thing about outdoor shoots. In the end you will be surprised by some pics. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I started as a hobby photographer, like many of us. In the meantime I earn money with photography and have gained a lot of experience, so I can call myself a professional photographer. Of course, everyone can improve, but through workshops and courses I was able to acquire extensive basic knowledge. What has been your most memorable session and why? That is a really difficult question, because every shooting is unique. Therefore I love every single one of them. Especially the work with models, make-up artists and other photographers makes me very happy. Nevertheless, one shooting was particularly significant. Last autumn another photo-grapher and I had the honour to shoot with a young designer. Together with our team we put the pieces of his latest collection in its true light. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? My family and my friends support me in my dream job. They are also the ones, who always bring me new ideas and inspire me in my work. Nikon or Canon? Favourite lens? Currently I am shooting with Canon 5D mark iii. Suitable for this is the portrait lens Canon 85mm, my favourite lens. Which advice would you give somebody who wants to start their own business as a photographer? If you want to be a self-employed photographer, you should trust yourself. Of course, at first it seems to be a great challenge. There is so much to consider and you have to over-come many obstacles. But: Nothing ventured, nothing gained. What do you think of our new magazine? I like that young, international artists are brought before the curtains. Hello, everybody I call Patrizia Moretti, I was born and live in Perugia, near Rome. But, very often, for five years now, I move to other cities for my photographic sets, preferably in Rome, Turin and Milan. I love traveling, meeting new people and building new relationships of friendship. I have always had a great love for art and especially for architecture. Photographic passion was born for gaming, during some pleasure trips, where I felt the need to stop memories by taking photos. So I bought, first a small machine and after a while, a very simple reflex. I started taking landscapes and only in 2013 I was passionate about doing female portraiture. Since then I have been more and more passionate, deepening my knowledge, studying lights, postproduction, and above all learning the approach and the management of the many models I have been delighted to portray during the sets. Normally photographer with natural light, which I prefer artificial due to its softness and the ability to make subjects closer to the truth. My constant quest consists in making every woman unique and identifying her personal characteristics. My greatest dream is to convey emotions, to tell the feminine universe through its many facets, with grace, sensuality and above all class. I love both color and BW, because I believe every photo has its own story and it is necessary to follow the message without forced conversions. Use Nikon Reflex and especially I love the 50mm 1.4 To anyone who wants to get closer to the world of photography, especially at Portrait and Naked, I always recommend thinking that there is a person in front of your lens and not a thing. For this, a lot of love, much respect and a lot of accuracy are needed to create the right feeling for doing a good job. Je vous présente la première mini collection « FUTUR », d'Elie Valière de L'équipe Artistique Sebastian Professional France, mini série né du travail destiné à un concours. Elie Valière : J'ai voulu par l'utilisation de ces gammes chromatiques grises, acier, rappeler le métal des machines et créer, au travers d'une vision futuriste, presque transhumaniste, la femme, non pas de demain, mais d'après demain. Cette femme nouvelle, à la silhouette androgyne, se présente avec une allure presque mécanique. Les teintes dégradées de gris et de bleu métallique, servies par cette coupe stylisée, nous rappellent les casques des créatures robotiques aux formes humanoïdes des anciennes séries de science-fiction. Tell us something about yourself. Talking about myself is not easy for me. I am quite introverted. Photographing people gave me a chance to overcome shyness and taught me how to talk to people and coexist with them. I was born in Zielona Gora and I live here. The town is not too big and not too small, just enough for me. I love autumn, red wine, good food and music - music is something I cannot live without. How and when did you get into photography? When I was a child I used to draw a lot. However my inborn impatience did not allow me to finish drawings. The process of drawing was too long for me and that pushed me to discover photography. In high school some students played sports, others played musical instruments, I took photos of my class mates. At first I photographed analogically. After finishing studies I worked for different companies, but felt that was not what I wanted to do. I took photos all that time and one day it turned out that this is what I want to do professionally. I decided to take a risk. I thought:„now or never” and it worked out. I have been taking portrait and wedding photos for 10 years now. My hobby has become a way of life. What does photography mean to you? Taking photos for me means to spend time with other person, but also with myself. Photography gives me a chance to meet people and understand them. It’s a way to capture unique moments for people being photographed. For me, it is also a way to create and preserve imaginary visions that come to my mind. Such moments give me possibility to be around people. I take the most from their experience, wisdom and fresh ideas. I read a lot and I look at other masters work. Taking photos for me is search for esthetic fulfillment. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My style is classic approach to portrait. I am in love with the old Hollywood light. I like black and white images of high contrast. I rather feel most at ease in dark and gloomy atmosphere, although I appreciate colours, sometimes colour makes sense and sets the tone of the image. I also like natural light that I use during outdoor sessions. .Where do you get inspiration from? Observation is the most crucial thing, it is hard to find inspiration without it. Movies are perfect inspiration. I did not use to pay attention to lighting, play of lights, colour tone while watching. Nowadays, when I watch movies I pay attention to photographic details. Literature is source of knowledge. My strange dreams are also important for me. I study photo albums and I am inspired by classical way of portraying people e.g. Karsh, Hurrell. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Always, I do not like fortuity. I like to be well prepared for the sessions from the beginning till the end: make-up, proper outfit and the face. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Paid professional - 220 -

Studio, on location or both? Both. I like studio a lot and I use it the most in the winter, when it is more difficult to take photos in the open air. I like natural light, so if only the weather is fine I go outside. I often use different locations for the sessions such as old houses, ruined palaces, industrial places. What has been your most memorable session and why? Many sessions are special for me. I get attached to people. Most memorable are peopleâ€™s faces, sometimes their sacrifice while working with me despite cold or wind or heat or my ridiculous ideas. That they trust me and submit to my visions, this is what I remember the most.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start? Listen to yourself, listen to your intuition. Remember that it is you who take the picture, not the camera. Look for your own way to illuminate the set, to crop and to post-process images. Many people may tell you that your work is useless. Just remember to tell apart critical evaluation from pure malice. Listen to the people you care about. In the end ignore all feed-backs. You must be patient, do not give up and do not be discouraged. Kun je ons iets vertellen over jou? Mijn naam is Denise en werk voor een beautybureau als onder andere visagiste en haarstyliste. Daarnaast ben ik ook nog werkzaam in de horeca en volg ik sinds kort een Grimeur en theaterstyling opleiding. Als je iets over jezelf zou kunnen veranderen, wat zou het zijn? Eigenlijk helemaal niks mijn motto is altijd geweest dat iedereen mooi is hoe die is & zo denk ik ook over mijzelf. Wat zijn je goede eigenschappen, en je minder goeie? Ik geef niet snel op als ik iets wil ga ik er voor tot het doel bereikt is. Ik zeg ook eigenlijk altijd wat ik denk, dit is soms handig maar vaak valt het verkeerd bij de mensen. Hoe ben je begonnen als model? Een aantal jaar geleden heb ik een fotoshoot gewonnen. Deze fotoâ€™s had ik geplaatst op mijn facebook en zodoende ben ik eigenlijk het wereldje ingerold. Wat denk je van het werk als model? Het is leuk om te doen maar er is ook veel gezeur in het wereldje. Je moet goed weten wat je wilt en wat je zegt. Als je zomaar wat doet kan het nog wel eens een lastig wereldje zijn. Wat is uw schoonheid regime? Ieder mens is mooi en verdient het om mooi te zijn! Al heel lang mijn motto en streef deze ook altijd na! Wat zijn je plannen voor de toekomst? Ik moet zeggen dat ik niet zozeer in de toekomst leef maar meer per dag. Maar als ik echt een doel moet stellen zou ik heel graag als grimeur in de Opera willen werken. Wat zijn sommige van uw favoriete ervaringen tot nu toe? De fun en de gezelligheid die ik met fotografen heb. Iedere shoot is weer vol lol en gezelligheid. Dit maakt voor mij iedere shoot weer speciaal. Met bepaalde fotografen een hele goede band/vriendschap opgebouwd wat ik toch wel heel bijzonder vind. Wat zou je graag nog doen als model? Ik wil heel graag nog een keer een shoot in de sneeuw doen met een aantal huskyâ€™s Heeft u nog een advies voor wie als model wil starten? Ben je nog geen 18 neem dan altijd een ouder mee. Twijfel je bij een bepaalde fotograaf dan gewoon niet heen gaan of iemand meenemen. Maak altijd goede afspraken met het team. Photographer Aleksandra Wawrzyniak (Poland) Erzähl uns etwas über dich. Ich heiße Aleksandra Wawrzyniak und ich bin 22 Jahre alt. Ich arbeite bei einer großen Firma, die die Autos herstellt. Ich mag kochen, tanzen, sich mit den Freunden treffen und natürlich fotografieren. Ich komme aus Polen und ich lebe hier. Ich habe dritten Jahr des Studium-deutche Filologie dieses Jahr abgeschlossen und jetzt begann ich nächste Stufe von diesem Studium. In der Zukunft möchte ich Fotostudio haben und zusätlich übersetzen. Ich bevorzuge mündliche Übersetzungen. Wie und wann kamen Sie in die Fotografie? Schon als ich Gymnasien war, habe ich fotografiert. Am anfang habe ich das Fotoapparat von meinem Opa und dann von meinen besten Freundin geliehen. Das Fotografiren hat mich nie gelangweilt.. im Gegensatz zu den andres Hobbys z. B das Sammeln von Postkarten. Erst zum meinen 18. Gebut=rtstag bekam ich so viel Geld, dass nächste Tag ging ich zum Geschäft mit Bargeld um Canon 600d zu kaufen. Dann alle Geld welche ich verdient habe, gab ich für Fotografie aus. Was bedeutet Fotografie zu Ihnen? Es bedeutet für mich , einfach in einer anderen Welt hinauiszugehen, das Vergessen über allen Lebensproblemen und auch Selbstentwicklung. Bitte kurz Ihre Fotografie-Stil für unsere Leser zu beschreiben. Ich fotografie vor allem die Menschen, die sehr viel Emotionen in meinen Photos zeigen und zeigen können. Manchnam fotografiere die Landschaften, aber nur bei den Ferien, Auflügen. Meine Katze ist auch sehr gute Modellin :) Ich mag besdoner die buntvolle Portreten und Edytorials. Denken Sie im Voraus, was Sie im Bild wollen? Meisten jaa.. ich denke daran, welche ich die Fotos mit dieser Modellin oder mit diesem Model ich machen möchte, aber ich weiß von meiner Erfahrung, dass die beste Fotos ganz spontan entsehen. Es höngt alles von vielen Apekten ab, z. B von Licht, Modell, Platz u.s.w. - 244 -

Woher bekommen Sie Inspiration? Aus der Welt :) Films, Werbespots.. aber sehr viel Inspiration geben mir die Plätze. Ich sehe ein Platz, Lanschaft oder so was und dann bilde in meinem Kopf ganze Geschichte, wie die Photosesion in diesme Platz aussehen kann. Ich beobachte sehr viel polnische Fotografen z. B Mateusz Strelau. Ich erniere mich, wie ich seine erste Photos mit den Balltettanzerin gesehen habe. Ich habe dann gedacht. Ich muss etwas ähnliches machen. Bis jetzt habe ich nicht die Photossession mit Ballettanzerin gemacht, ich warte ganze Zeit darauf und suche die Personen die in meiner Umgebung Ballet tanzen, Studio, vor Ort oder beides? Früher nur vor Ort jetzt beides! Würden Sie sich selbst ein Bastler oder ein bezahlter Profi? Ihr größtes Erlebnis Sitzung war und warum? Als ich im Danzig war und ich lebte dort eine Woche nur aus Geld, die ich von Fotos verdient habe. Ich habe dort sehr viel tolle Menschen kennen gelernt und machte die Fotos auf Flughafen. Nikon oder Canon? Lieblingsobjektiv? Canon! Ich probierte beides aber Canon hielt mir ans Herz. Objektiv - canon 50mm , 1.4 Was ist ein Ratschlag möchten Sie einen neuen Fotografen zu bieten, die ihre eigenen Unternehmen zu gründen? Versucht ihr erst die Fotos als Hobby machen.. sehr lang . und als ihr beobachtet, dass die Fotos geben euch viel Geld als die Arebit im Vollzeit, beginnt ihr nur die Fotos machen. Begeht ihr die Fehler und lernt ihr auf die Fehler von Anderem. und hört ihr nicht auf Fotografieren auf! Was denken Sie über unser neues Magazin? Es ist mehr zugänglich und ordentlich.
