This exciting new exhibition showcases the work of Luxembourgish artist Arthur Unger (*1932), who made a name for himself with his fire and water works from the early 1970s onwards. Unger explored two main techniques throughout the course of his career, namely India ink drawings - which he he often refers to as psychograms - and works on copper - also known as pyrochimiograms. Deeply concerned with materiality, the artist refers to himself as a "peintre de la matière", paying as much attention to the medium as to the meaning of his works. Form and content, thus, come together in highly expressive works, a selection of which will be on show at the museum this spring.
