Honoring the Life of Honoring the Life of
On May 8, 2026, God called home David Williams, Jr., granting him eternal rest. When his footsteps grew weary and the path became too steep, God gently touched his eyes and gave him peaceful sleep.
David was born on October 16, 1957, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Maxine Williams and David Lee Williams, Sr. He was raised in Newark, where he built the foundation of a life defined by hard work, service, and faith.
David proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, dedicating two years of honorable service as a Ship Mechanical Engineer. His commitment to excellence continued into his civilian career, where he became a licensed Black Seal Operator in the State of New Jersey. He retired from Garden State Paper Company in Garfield, New Jersey, after years of dedicated service. He was also an active participant in his local union.
Committed to growth and skill development, David completed extensive education and training through apprenticeship programs in HVAC, refrigeration, and building maintenance. These programs prepared him for various trade certifications, including Black Seal and Blue Seal licenses, as well as OSHA-10 certification. Demonstrating both mastery of his craft and a passion for uplifting others, David also owned and operated his own HVAC training school, where he trained individuals from all walks of life to obtain their New Jersey State Boiler License, empowering many to build stable and successful careers.
David had a deep love for the outdoors and embraced life with a spirit of adventure. He enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, and traveling the world. He found particular joy in witnessing the beauty of both sunrise and sunset, reflecting the words of Psalm 113:3: “From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”
David leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Patricia Williams; his loving children, Kimberly, Niya, and David Lee Williams III (Tiffany), along with Patricia’s children, As-Salaam, Al-Quaddir, As-Sabur, and Emmanuel; his sisters, Darleen Parker and Christine Arnold (Arthur); his brother, Lester Williams (Bernadette); his best friend, Joseph; his cousin, Phil; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
David will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud veteran, and a man of quiet strength, faith, and kindness. His legacy of love, service, and integrity will live on in all who knew him.
David Williams, Jr. walked this life with grace, A gentle strength, a warm embrace. A devoted husband, steadfast and true, A loving father whose care always grew.
A Navy veteran, disciplined and strong, He served with honor his whole life long. Yet more than duty, rank, or name, It was his heart that earned acclaim.
A beautiful soul, so rare to find, With quiet patience and a peaceful mind. He wished the best for all he knew, And showed that love in all he’d do.
Never a harsh word, never in anger, To no one was he ever a stranger. His spirit was calm, his presence kind, A reflection of Christ in heart and mind.
The Lord he loved, the Word he kept, Through every trial, he prayed and wept. The Book of Psalms, his guiding light, Gave him strength by day and peace by night.
“The Lord is my shepherd,” he believed, And in that promise, he found relief. Through every valley, through every test, He trusted God and was richly blessed.
Now called to rest in heaven above, He dwells in everlasting love. Though we will miss his gentle way, His faith still speaks, his light will stay.
For lives like his do not depart— They echo on in every heart.

While ur lives,
In times when uncertainty loomed and duty called, this Sailor stood the watch.
Many times, he looked toward home, seeing those he loved— needing his presence, his guidance, his steady hand. Yet still, this Sailor stood the watch.
He stood the watch so that we our families and our nation could live in safety and peace, resting securely each night because he stood the watch.
Today, we gather to say, “Shipmate, the watch stands relieved. Relieved by those you have led, guided, trained, and loved.”
Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate. Your duty is done. Your watch is complete. Rest easy—we have the watch.
