INTRO

I have created this magazine with the intention to uplift the natural beauty of women and lean a way from the unrealistic beauty standards put in place for women in today’s society for them to be deemed as attractive by the male gaze. Even when writing this I am Aware of how hypocritical this could sound as I myself could be deemed as a ‘beauty standard’ but that also sends its own message as from someone who could be deemed to fit into that portion of society I do myself struggle with self esteem and worth when it comes to the way I look but overtime I have come to realise everyone in this world is so beautiful in their own way and the magazine issues distributed today should display this instead of conforming to the unrealistic standards.
CANDID

The next few pages of this magaine are going to be a display of some candid photographs I took, these photos symbolise many different things one of the main ones being freedom. The feeling of self expression, girlhood and the chance to be your own unique self even if you are on ‘display’. I chose this style to help women to see they do not need to act or look a certain way for society’s gaze.
When doing my research for the creation of this magazine a lot of the photos I looked at (while still belong beautiful shots) didn’t feel very real. They were all very rigid and very clearly perfectly put together none of them told a story or even celebrated the individual focused on within the pictures. Which is the complete opposite of what I wanted to bring to this project.

P D

The next pa played but instead er I ensured that each one would tell a story, carry a meaning behind it and that they still do not display perfection or rigidness nor appear to be forced to the audience as I still want them to receive the message that I'm going against beauty standards within modern society. The reason I did display some more posed images is to showcase that even if you have a specific vision for a photo shoot the women’s natural beauty shouldn’t be overlooked because you are aiming for ‘perfection’ instead it should be embraced and worked around instead of being ‘worked on’
