NIGERIA
Continue to pray for the 3 schools that FCS have been able to visit. We ask for impact on these young people. Also continue to pray for His guidance into which schools and churches that we should still approach.
PAMELA, MUSA & GRACIE GAIYA The Gaiya family are grateful to God for the recent visit of Paul (CEO) and Caz (Council Chair). It was a really encouraging and timely visit. Pray for both Musa and Pamela as they commence their sabbaticals in February. Pamela will be focusing on Mission Africa assignments and seeing her 30th anniversary project rolled out. A huge thank you to all who contributed so generously. Remember to pray for stamina for Gracie at school; there’s always plenty of homework to do! Pray too for the needs at Hillcrest School that the Lord would provide the needed Superintendent/teachers (from August).
SAMANTHA, GODFREY, HEPHZIBAH & MELKI IBIA Samantha asks for prayer for the implementation of programmes that are planned for this month including schools outreach and a Singles Forum in one of the churches.
MARK NIXON Join Mark in thanking God for: • A safe return to Nigeria after the Christmas period. • A new semester at PACT and the re-starting of the village programme. Give thanks for the purchase of items that will aid the village outreach. • The visit of Caz and Paul to Nigeria. • The work that is continuing to be done on the library. Join Mark in asking God for: • There is still a problem pumping water from the borehole, pray this will be resolved soon. • Pray that Mark will be a blessing to people in Ankpa and for the evangelism programmes of Mark, staff and the college. • Pray for stability in a country where things are difficult for so many people. • Pray for continuing wisdom as he prepares materials for students.
GODWIN, GAIL & ANGEL EKANEM Praise God for the appointment of Rev. C.G. Achor as the new General Secretary of UEC. Pray for wisdom and grace for him in his new role. Gail and Godwin praise God for daily grace, provision, protection and strength. Pray for full healing for Gail’s wrist. She hopes to get back to WWTC and to the Kids’ Club early this month. Pray for renewed energy and strength. Pray for wisdom for Godwin as he interacts with other church leaders, and as he teaches God’s word at every opportunity.
While Katie spends this academic year teaching in NI, she gives thanks for the regular communication with colleagues at HMH. Pray for the various meetings she will be involved in with MA this month. Pray for Katie as she joins the team in the Belfast office for several months doing part-time finance admin. Pray that she will settle in well and that she won’t become too overwhelmed with still teaching as well as working in the office.
CHAD DAVID, LUCY, SOPHIE & OLIVIA MORRISON
Pray for Ekaette as she juggles many things. She is preparing for her final exams (midwifery) in early March. Pray for Akaninyene and Angel in their educational pursuits. Pray for Aniedi as he makes plans for the future.
Praise God that for the moment, Acacia is functioning as a team with Lisa and Morgan having joined. Pray for the Morrisons as they lead them in the ministry and seek to care for them pastorally.
NIGERIA | HOME ASSIGNMENT
Pray for the new women as they transition to the next stage of the course and learn to sew. Pray we can continue to disciple them thoroughly.
BRIAN WILSON Brian Wilson thanks God for the opportunity to be at the December United Evangelical Conference in Lagos (attended by Paul Wright) and also to return to the United Kingdom for furlough. He is particularly grateful to God and Mission Africa for the financial support enabling the completion of the PACT library renovation project. Thank God for the way in which it has been done and for the role of people like Dr Mark Nixon, Pastor Sunday Apeh and students in that completion. Pray that the College will be faithful to its undertaking to have trained library cover in place during Brian’s furlough. Pray that the furlough will not just be an opportunity for refreshment but for generating awareness and prayer for Nigeria.
KATIE MORRISON
The Morrisons will be moving house and taking on some of the responsibilities in the office at the mission station which requires them to move house. Pray for this transition.
JEREMY & RACHEL NASH Give thanks that Jeremy and Rachel were able to have a restful and refreshing break in January. Pray for them as they continue their ministry in the Guest House. Continue to pray that God gives Jeremy contact with the right people so that children can study the Explorers Bible Course that was used Burkina Faso. These courses are being used in Chad for the first time and the focus is on Sunday schools and Christian schools. Jeremy would love if these courses were also used in state schools where the children may otherwise not hear the Gospel.
KENYA KATHRYN LINDSAY Join Kathryn in thanking God for an encouraging time with Robbie and Margaret Toop at the end of November 2023 and for the safe arrival of Katie, Lucy and Louise who arrived at the beginning of January. Continue to pray that she would get in touch with the right people to into the local schools and that God would direct her of things to get involved with. Keep praying for Kathryn’s safety as insecurity in the area continues to rise. Pray that the government would make good decisions and that these decisions would benefit the country and the people - pray also that inflation will come down. Remember Katie and Lucy as they are now in Chogoria Hospital for two weeks, pray that they wouldn’t feel too isolated and that they will make a big impact in Chogoria. Pray for safety as they travel for a few weeks and for a safe flight home too. For Louise who arrived on 3rd January and is staying with Kathryn for three months. Pray for her safety and for good health. Pray too for God’s guidance during her time here and that she would be useful in the areas God desires for her to be involved in.
IVORY COAST ANA VAN BRAKEL Ana gives thanks for a safe journey to Ivory Coast and for a good start at the college. She gives thanks too for the welcome and the help that both the staff and the students have given during her first few weeks, and she hopes that the contacts will develop into a longstanding mutual friendships.
Join with Ana in praying for the classes that have started, that the Lord will give patience and understanding when she is teaching. The different levels of literacy skills are a challenge so far, some women are very fluent in reading, other’s are only just starting.
SCOTLAND ROBBIE TOOP Give thanks for a worthwhile visit to Belfast in January to meet Paul Wright, the new CEO, as well as re-engage with office staff. Please pray for our monthly zoom calls with the office which help us keep in touch and pray for each other. Please pray for me as I prepare to return to Hope Community Church, Falkirk, on Sunday 4th February to share about our recent visit to the work in Kenya. Pray for us as we seek to maintain links with those who have had Short Term overseas experience with Mission Africa as we try to encourage them in their desire to follow God’s plan for their lives. Give thanks for the continued commitment of praying people in Scotland and pray for us as we seek to support those who meet faithfully to pray for the work of the mission including regularly meeting with the established Prayer Groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Pray that God will give wisdom and guidance in seeking ways to encourage others to pray regularly. If you would like to be involved please contact me.

Paul along with Caroline Bustard are cur-rently in Nigeria. Pray for them as they travel, see projects and meet some of our missionaries. Pray that this will be a time of real blessing and encouragement for all. At the beginning of January we said goodbye to Peter Irvine from the Belfast office. We give thanks to God for the 2 years that he has served in Mission Africa as Finance Officer. Pray for Peter as he moves on to his role within ECM. Give thanks that there will be over 40 people travelling to Kenya and Nigeria this summer on medical electives and summer teams. Pray for Catherine as prepares material for our new short-term programme ‘Come See, Go Tell’ which will involve the teams meeting before and after their time in Africa. Pray that God will be in the centre of all these plans and preparations and that He will be preparing the hearts of those travelling too.
