The surounding environment is relatively complex, with ofice buildings such as the Yangtze River Center in the north, hotels and gas stations in the west, xiaohuangshan in the southwest, and market and residential areas in the East. There are a large number of bus stopsaround. in addition, it is worth notina that the main direction of traic coming from the station is the direcion of changilana Boad on thewest side, so the main entrance ofthe parking ot should also be considered to be set on the west side to facilitate the access of vehicles.

The site is located on the smalhikide on the west side of the intersection of Taihang Mountain road and Changjang road in Qingdao Economic and echnological Development Zone, Shan Dong province. The surrounding area is a relatively prosperous area of the city. The southwest side of the site is connected with the small Huangshan Mounain of China Uniersity of petroleum. The noth and east sides of the site are the main urban roads. There is asignifcant height difference in the slope of the site. ln the desgn,it should be considered how to combine the height difference for three-dimensional design.

There is a significant height ifference along the Yangtze River Road in the north of the whole site. The height from the west side to the east side drops significantly and two platforms are generated. The first platform is located on the site ofthis design. Therefore, the utilization of site height in addition, as anurban main road, the traffic flow of Changlang Road is very large, so I don't think that the main entrance to the station is located on the north side, that is.along the Yangtze road.

The Taihangshan Road-Changjiang Road intersection, as the junction of two major urban arterial roads, experiences extremely heavy traffic flow. With the future opening of the subway, which will also have a station set up here, its transportation significance will become even more critical. Therefore, the passenger terminal located on the southwestern side of the site will be designed to address the relatively constrained space by utilizing threedimensional space, thereby resolving the issue of low site utilization caused by traditional planar waiting arrangements.

The Xiaohuang Hill on the southwest side of the site is relatively lower in elevation compared to the site itself. Given the site's naturally elevated terrain, the building height should be lower than the hill's elevation while slightly exceeding that of the residential buildings across the eastern road— where a mixed-use wholesale market and residential community are located—to maintain the original height gradient and prevent the new station from creating visual disruption along Changjiang Road's urban streetscape.

Propose Solutions

In the construction of traffic buildings for sites with large height difference, the leveling site or three-dimensional traffic is usually considered. Because thel amount of earth and stone excavated in the leveling site is too large, only the parking lot is leveled. In the construction part, the three-dimensional traffic is used, that is, the so-called use of height difference to separate the flow of people and avoid dividing a large amount of space on the plane to organize thel flow line

Design Concept

During traditional festivals, Chinese people hang lanterns at their doorsteps and in shops. Lanterns symbolize home and represent warmth. In modern society, a spiritual sanctuary is often represented by distant hometowns and desired destinations. In today's world, stations of various sizes connect two farapart cities. Therefore, combining the earlier imagery of lanterns, we have decided to link the design inspiration of the station to lanterns, representing the warmth of home, the landmarks of cities, and the solace of the soul.

Lightweight structures, translucency, a sense of light, and more have become key themes. The corresponding use of steel structures, membrane structures, and the application of light contribute to the creation of an atmospheric experience. When these elements are combined with largespan structural systems, their expression becomes even more comprehensive.

A space enclosed by the steel frame limits the range of people's activities, but the lightness of the structure will not give people a sense of pressure. Because there is no thick wall, all the enclosure structures are fixed on thesteel frame. The maintenance space can accommodate people to carry out various activities,In this light enclosed space, various facilities and green plants are set up to improve the use quality of the space. Therefore, in orderto realize the light texture and expressive force of the lantern, the combination of steel frame and membrane structure will be adopted in the architectural design, with the characteristics of folding, which can realize the architectural language expression of this architectural image.

Overall Plan 1:2000

The whole building site is located on a mall hillside with considerable height diference, so I decided to use the strategy of partiaheight difference + partial leveling to design. in the part of the wating buiding, the sandwich structare is used to make use of theSheight difference ofthe site, and in the place where a large area ofopen space parking is needed, the method of levelingthe site to establish the parking lot is used,The waiting building is used as the separation of the femf and rear areas, and the front part is used foiactivity and the rearpártisused for parking,

Parking Plan 1:1000

The parking ot is arranged on the open space on the west side ofthe main building ofthe station, with 5 indenendent zones and 10parking spaces in total. There are entrances on the west side of the site and the passageways of each parking space meet the reguirements of turning radius. There is also a triangle temporary dispatching area between the parking area and the building.ln addition, thisdesign ensures the functions of departure, drop off, retrn and departure&ln addition, a certain amount of small car parking lot hasbeen set up in the square in front ofthe station to meet the needs of parking in front of the station.

Building Structure Detail Drawing A

The extensive glass curtain wall serves as the boundary of the building's inner skin, providing excellent transparency and favorable views. The floor slabs adopt a precast panel system supported by structural steel, transferring slab-induced stresses to the vertical supporting elements—the plain concrete columns. The glass curtain wall design incorporates chromium-plated tubes as both structural and decorative members, with hinged connection points fixed along the outer layer edges to link the external curtain wall framework of circular steel tubes.

Special Detail Drawing A

The plant is planted in a V-shaped groove, and the lower part is provided with soil and drainage pipeline. Planting plants on oneside is conducive to shaping the environment and improving the greening of the pedestrian ramp, and brings people good spaceand experience

Building Structure Detail Drawing B

The pedestrian bridge is elevated above the ground, freeing up valuable space below for greenery. Plain concrete columns support the beams and the composite walkway structure above. The walkway utilizes a steel-framed precast panel system, installed by hoisting. To align with the architectural form, ETFE membrane structures are applied on the outer sides of the glass railings on both sides, achieving a striking visual effect. Additionally, the walkway surface is paved with non-slip composite wood panels for safety and enhanced aesthetics. On the side where plants are installed, metal mesh is used as a partition.

Building Structure Detail Drawing C

The outer edge of the curtain wall structure is secured to the horizontal I-beams using shaped steel and bolts. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that at the connection points between the membrane structure and the building, hollow steel tubes are interconnected by spherical hinges to form stable spatial triangular pyramids. ETFE membranes are tensioned over the main steel framework to serve as the external skin.

Membrane Module Design

In the Northern Hemisphere, the solar irradiation angle changes periodically, and the daylight intensity varies at different times of the day. Therefore, I propose the use of an adjustable tomb wall to control the entry of light. Considering that the membrane structure itself possesses a certain degree of light transmittance, the membrane can remain extended to maintain the architectural form on days with sufficient daylight. Conversely, under poor lighting conditions, the membrane structure can retract to allow more light to enter

Circular steel tubes form the supporting framework of the membrane structure, with hinge joints and upper and lower guide rails attached to the ends of the framework, connecting it to the floor slabs. The supporting grid forms a spatial tetrahedral structure that tensions the surface membrane. To achieve folding functionality, motors are installed at the ends of the guide rails for control.

The uppermost membrane unit of the building is non-foldable. Its structure consists of triangular tube frames that run through the top of the building, fixed to beams extending from the columns.

Elevation&Section

Perspective Section

The sunken underground plaza and the commercial street are lowered to the elevation of the first basement level, with a large staircase provided for people to rest and sit. Shops along the commercial street feature two-way access, opening both to the external patrons on the commercial street and to the disembarking passengers inside the exit passageway. This twoway access layout saves space and improves operational efficiency.
