Also, guests had the opportunity to sign one of the last beams before observing it being raised by a President James Phelps. crane and placed in its final resting spot. Zion Hill MBC hosts '3rd Annual Veteran's Day Recognition Luncheon' On Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m., in the Turner Hall on the lower level of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1825 W. Hampton Ave., the church hosted its 3rd Annual Veteran's Day Recognition Luncheon honoring 12 veterans that have served in different branches of the military who are also members of the church. Guest speaker was The Badger Group CEO and Founder Richard Badger, who served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. The church's Veteran’s Committee invited State Senator Lena C. Taylor (D- 4th); and District 2 County Supervisor Willie Johnson, Jr. The American Legion Post 490 participated with the Presentation of Flags; and a Praise Dance was presented by Jamiee Lindsey. North Sunrise Rotary Club dedicates public bench to promote community engagement On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, The Milwaukee North Sunrise Rotary Club dedicated a neighborhood bench located on the northwest corner of 55th and Center, near a Milwaukee County Transit bus stop. The neighborhood bench project was presented to our club by one of their members, Thanner Baquero, a local resident of the Uptown Neighborhood. The purpose of the neighborhood bench is to encourage community engagement, provide a symbol of friendship, demonstrate caring for our neighbors and beautifying the neighborhood. Their decision on the neighborhood bench led them to believe that a public bench would contribute to the social and emotional well-being of the elderly, disabled and other individuals that spend time at the 55th and Center Street bus stop.
