Campaign For Tobacco-Free Kids brings national youth advocacy tour to Milwaukee

The dinner event included a special recognition of Congresswoman Gwen Moore, who was honored for her support of national tobacco prevention efforts, including the recent FDA proposal to remove menthol cigarettes from the market. The FDA estimates that prohibiting menthol cigarettes would reduce smoking by an estimated 15 percent over 40 years and prevent between 324,000 and 654,000 smoking-attributable deaths. The two-day event featured a Community Dinner and Celebration on Wednesday, August 24 at the African American Women’s Center and a youth advocacy training the following day.
