Instilling the importance of reading, one book at a time On Monday, March 27, 2023 the Iota Psi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated donated more than 160 books to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - St. Joseph Campus. Their goal is simply to "instill the importance of reading, one book at a time." This was a perfect match for Sigma Gamma Rho's Project CRADLE Care March of Dimes Photo by Yvonne Kemp Community Service project. Through Project CRADLE Care, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and the March of Dimes collaborate to address the issues that adversely affect black women and their children. Early childhood literacy is one of those areas of adversity. Iota Psi Sigma Basileus Tamara Sinclair shared that "many of our sorors are mothers, and our hope is that reading a book will increase the bond between parents and their newborn while also instilling the educational importance of reading."
