STORYTELLER BIOS CHRIS ALLEN is a laboratory quality professional with over a decade of experience in healthcare. Chris has a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science, an MBA with a healthcare management focus, and a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. Chris is a certified medical laboratory scientist as well as a certified lean six sigma black belt. Chris is also an avid outdoor adventurer and spends as much time as he can mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, canyoneering, and trail running with his wife and four children. AMY COWAN is practicing physician at the VA medical center in Salt Lake City. She is passionate about teaching, as well as learning. She frequently lectures to mostly white audiences about bias, white privilege and racism in healthcare. She teaches skills to develop the capacity for self-reflection and race talk. She encourages her learners to get close to the problem, be curious about how they benefit and contribute to racism and do the work to deconstruct it. Racism keeps us disconnected and isolated, I seek connection, community and equity in the spaces I move. ROBERT E. GLASGOW, MD, FACS is a gastroesophageal surgeon at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute. He is Professor and Vice Chairman, Clinical Operations and Quality, as well as the Chief Value Officer for the Department of Surgery. He and Tiffany Glasgow, MD have been married for 26 years. They have three amazing children, Matt (22), Sommer (20), and Garrett (17). The Drs. Glasgow find wellness in the mountains of Utah and the West with their kids and Tango, their Australian Shepherd. ROMANY REDMAN is a resident physician at the University of Utah in the combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics program. She has a bachelor’s degree in Russian Language and Literature and played Celtic fiddle in one of the first Siberian Irish pub bands before moving back stateside for medical school. Romany strongly believes in the healing power of art and the phenomenal capacity of folk traditions such as music and dance to create and support healthy communities.
