The U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, received the newest U.S. Army vehicle Feb. 21, 2020. The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle arrived to the museum at JBLE and Fort Lee, Virginia, to be exhibited as part of the Future of the Army section which allows former, current and future Soldiers to see the direction of transportation for the Army. “The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle brought here is one of the two prototypes that were tested to determine where the Army was headed, in terms of transportation, in the future,” said Alisha Hamel, Transportation Museum director. Museum visitors will be able to see

the JLTV interior which displays some of the newest features, including cup holders, the TAK-4i intelligent independent suspension system and the complete plug and play command, control, communications, computers intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability that was designed to keep Soldiers safe while travelling outside the wire. “It’s designed for better survivability in a combat situation,” Hamel said. “It is armored all the way around.” The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division was the first to receive the JLTV in 2019. The replacement of the Army’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle with the JLTV started in early 2019. The U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force will also be incorporating the vehicle in their wheeled fleet going into

the future. The Army anticipates purchasing a total of 49,099 JLTVs across its active, Reserve and National Guard components. The JLTV program remains on schedule and on budget to replace a significant portion of the Army’s HMMWV

fleet. The JLTV comes in two variants and four mission package configurations: General Purpose, Close Combat Weapons Carrier, Heavy Guns Carrier and a Utility vehicle. Army units across JBLE will receive the JLTV in the future.

Approximately 1,000 Airmen, service members and civilians representing Joint Base LangleyEustis, Virginia and Air Combat Command rendered a final salute to U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Paul K. “Tabs” Voss and his family. Voss, a 25-year veteran who passed away while deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, was the ops division branch chief at ACC Headquarters. This marks the end of Voss’watch as we honor his service, dedication and sacrifice to our country.

Adopt an Airman

The Adopt an Airman program is one of the ways our community helps Airmen feel at home in Hampton. Since the program kicked off in November of 2015, more than 200 Airmen have been paired with over 100 Hampton area Host Families! Langley AFB Hospital’s North entrance closing Due to construction, Langley AFB Hospital’s North entrance (located across from the flight line) will be closed until further notice beginning Dec. 2. All patients and staff must use the South entrances (Emergency Room/water side) for all appointments. Please leave an extra 15 minutes of travel time in case of any delays due to the construction. CAC ID Services

The MPF currently provides extended hours for CAC/ID card operations. Monday-Thursday 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., customers are able to book appointments and utilize walk-in services. We highly recommend booking an appointment prior to coming in to ensure the customer receives proper service. Walk-in customers will be accepted and serviced as time allows. The services offered are limited to CAC replacements and CAC pin resets. All other services must be completed during the duty hours of 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. MondayFriday. Please use the website https://633mpfappointments.setmore.com/ to book appointments during normal duty hours and extended service times. If you have any questions, please contact the Customer Service office in the MPF at 757-764-6420. Basic ID card reminders: For all new CAC cards, members must provide 2 forms of ID. Driver’s licenses need to be current and not expired (despite the issuing state law). Please ensure for lost/stolen cards, the member has a letter from their unit First Sergeant, and 2 forms of ID. For any member not in uniform, the member must still meet all AFI 36-2903 grooming standards. Shaving waivers will be accepted if presented at the time of appointment.

Did You Know…New Transition Assistance Program Curriculum & Requirements

There are new requirements/changes coming to the Congressionally Mandated Transition Assistance Program (TAP) beginning 1 October 2019. Members who have completed the Pre-separation Counseling and signed the e-form by 30 September 2019 are grandfathered in the FY19 curriculum. If the e-form is not signed by 30 September 2019, service members must re-accomplish the Pre-separation Counseling and complete applicable new requirements (FY20 cur-
