Hampton Roads Fleet Week From Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs The U.S. Navy, local businesses and civic organizations are celebrating Fleet Week Hampton Roads 2014, which began Oct. 4 and runs through Oct. 20, with a variety of events that serve to honor the outstanding contributions and selfless sacrifice of sea service members and their families. Fleet Week Hampton Roads, held in conjunction with the Navy birthday, celebrates and recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of the sea services, past and present, made by Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who are neighbors, volunteers and citizens actively working to enhance the quality of life for Hampton Roads. Fleet Week activities consist of ship visits, sports competitions, social events and military demonstrations throughout the area that showcase military personnel, equipment, technology and capabilities, while emphasiz-
ing the longstanding close relationship between the Hampton Roads community and the military.

Military Citizen of the Year Luncheon at Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Award inception and event has been hosted by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce since 1955, which recognizes outstanding enlisted (E-6 and below) military members for their active participation in off-duty community activities.
