Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group returns home From USS Harry S. Truman Public Affairs Approximately 6,000 Sailors and Marines assigned to the Harry S.Truman Carrier Strike Group (HST CSG) arrived at their homeports in Norfolk and Mayport, Fla.,April 18, following a nine-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation. While deployed, HST CSG conduct-
ed a full range of operations ranging from maritime security operations and multinational exercises, to providing air support for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. HST CSG also conducted integrated operations with the French navy’s Charles de Gaulle Strike Group over a five-week period in the Gulf of Oman,Arabian Sea and Arabian Gulf.

CLEAN THE BASE DAY NAS Oceana and Dam Neck Annex will hold a “Clean the Base Day” April 28. All hands are asked to participate by “sprucing up” the area around their building and the barracks by picking up trash, weeding, raking and trimming bushes. Assistance will also be needed in high visibility areas of the bases. Self Help on Oceana will be open and provide a limited number of garden tools and other items for the clean up that will be available to check out, on a first-come, first-served basis.
