In just a few short weeks, the entire community will be putting their heads together, literally, to fight for funding to end pediatric cancer. The shears are primed and ready for the Annual Shave the Mayor Event for St. Baldrick’s on Saturday, April 27th. This year marks the 6th annual Shave the Mayor
for St. Baldrick’s event here in Parker. To date, this incredible event has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for cancer research, but sadly, the need for funding to find a cure for pediatric cancers remains and that’s where all of you come in.
Head over to shavethemayor.com and sign up to GET SHAVED at the Vehicle Vault on the 27th or simply donate to a Shavee who has already signed up and is working towards their fundraising goal! You can also sign up to volunteer at the event &/or become an event sponsor.
Real superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big battles and often, those little warriors are fighting with huge smiles on their faces. Show your support by showing up and being a part of Shave the Mayor for St. Baldrick’s and leave with your heart full and your head bald!
Cancer has touched all of us, in some way. We all know someone who has heroically faced and fought this unforgiving and tenacious disease. Coming together in the fight to find a cure, especially on behalf of the youngest of heroic cancer patients, is a small act that can create a huge ripple effect in the lives of all those affected.

Douglas County Veterans Golf Tournament The majestic eagle taking flight that is the Veterans Monument, Freedom’s Keeper, in Veterans Plaza in Downtown Castle Rock is a constant, genuine reminder of the selfless and too many times, ultimate sacrifice that our Veterans make for us every day. The Douglas County Veterans Memorial Foundation was started to get that magnificent eagle monument erected. Now that the monument is in place, the focus of the foundation has shifted to continually support our hometown heroes, our local veterans.
Grants are being accepted for the DCVMF Veterans Assistance Grant program. This program is designed to assist with needs that local Veterans have, whether they be transportation needs, ADA home modifications, service dogs, funeral services, or any area where a service gap exists. 9

This year, you can be a part of the amazing work the DCVMF is doing by teeing off in the Douglas County Veterans Golf Tournament, which will be held on Thursday, May 16th, 2019, at Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course in Castle Rock, Colorado. The cost per golfer in this tournament is just $150 and that cost includes breakfast, green fees, cart fees, range balls, prizes, and lunch after golf. There will be an 8am shotgun start and the proceeds from this fantastic event will directly benefit Veterans right here in Douglas County. This tournament will be a four-player scramble. Players can enter as a four-person team or you can enter individually, and teams will be built for you. Get your golf buddies together and get registered, the deadline to get in on the fun and tee up for this extremely worthy cause is May 6th.
Events like this take a team of people to make it successful, which is why the DCVMF is looking for sponsors for the golf tournament as well. Senior Life Expo With the senior population rapidly growing, services and programs for seniors are expanding equally as fast. It can be rather overwhelming to make sense of it all. The goal of the Douglas County Senior Life Expo is to bring seniors and their family members together with providers of numerous services, all in one place. At this free event, attendees will be able to meet with representatives regarding “all things senior” topics including housing, health care, insurance, senior organizations, home care, estate planning, assistance and services, funeral and cremation services, transportation, government programs and services, and activities for socializing and keeping busy, and much more. The Senior Life Expo will also offer free seminars with topics of interest to seniors by experts in their respective fields. Two offerings will be offered run every half-hour beginning at 1:30 pm. Topics included in these seminars include ““Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning”By Darrell Gubbels, Gubbels Law Office, PC., “Medicare 101—Differences of Medicare Products”By Chuck Hoppe, Alpine Life Planning Strategies, Inc., “The Truth About the New
