The Christmas Angel Project Melody Carlson

A small book club of five ladies have shared the ups and downs of life for years. This may be the hardest one yet as Abby, the leader of the club has unexpectedly passed away. They don’t know what to do without her direction and inspiration. Unsure if the group will continue to meet without their matriarch, the ladies agree to gather one last time. Abby’s husband has delivered a package to this meeting that will give this group the direction they need during this time. Each friend receives a homemade angel and bible verse that Abby designed with each friend in mind. New friendships will bloom and each will be challenged as they embark on a Christmas angel project. BECKY It is a joy to read this short and sweet story during this busy time of year. With only 176 pages I didn’t expect an intense novel but did the author create a good story in such a small package? PAM I felt that the author was able to bring together a good story

in a short amount of time, especially with the focus on so many different characters. We only know Abby for a short time in this story before she passes unexpectedly. Did you feel that the author gave you a good feel for this character in such a short time?

BECKY We only meet her for one chapter but oddly enough I do feel like I had a good impression of Abby in a short amount of time. At the beginning of the story she is making angel ornaments for her friends. This alone painted a quick sketch of her basic character. From there we have stories and memories to fill in some blanks. The four ladies decide to become angels during this Christmas season in honor of their dear friend, Abby. Each will find a way to pay it forward during this sad time. Out of her four friends whom did you find most interesting? PAM I would have to choose Belinda as the most interesting

I love the little angels on the cover of this book. I do not possess the crafting ability to make those angels but I found a simple pattern for an angel ornament. I know that this is a simple Christmas story but we couldn’t help but become inspired to do something to lift someone else up. Belinda has made her way as a single mother and created herself as a successful entrepreneur. I loved the way she found her cause in a group of high school girls who needed a strong female figure.
