PUBLISHER Mike Tesoriero Mike@SouthlakeStyle.com SALES & MARKETING DIRECTOR Nicole Tesoriero Nicole@SouthlakeStyle.com EDITOR Cynthia Naugher Cynthia@SouthlakeStyle.com

STAFF WRITER Tim Glaze Tim@SouthlakeStyle.com CREATIVE DIRECTOR Bruce Sons SALES & MARKETING ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE Olivia Harris Olivia@SouthlakeStyle.com

As time moves on, I find myself thinking less about resolutions and more about patterns. As we step into the 20th year of publishing Southlake Style, I’ve enjoyed a front-row seat to the way trends arrive, peak, fade — and sometimes quietly return in a new form. When we launched, Southlake reflected a more upscale yet still mainstream moment during its initial growth spurt. Retail leaned toward familiar names like Pottery Barn and Brooks Brothers, homes prioritized space and scale, and having a website felt essential. Today, luxury experiences are intentional at every turn. Retail is shaped by custom design centers and brands like Apple and Tesla have expertly transcended experience over transaction. (We're particularly interested in Crate & Barrel’s return to Southlake Town Square later this summer). Housing has also shifted from production-style builds to custom and semicustom homes — and now luxury condos — that emphasize craftsmanship, personalization and smarter use of space. Even media has followed suit, with brands quietly moving away from noise and toward minimalism, direct engagement and community-driven platforms that meet people where they already are. Perhaps even at their coffee table? One trend that hasn’t wavered? Our demand for boutique health and wellness. From early yoga studios to today’s personalized fitness, recovery and wellness concepts, this space has continued to evolve and grow because it reflects something deeper: a long-term investment in how we feel, not just how we look.

Modernized Weight Loss

SciFit Center Doctor Talks New Age Weight Loss Techniques

What is Modernized Weight Loss? Traditional weight loss strategies are overly restrictive and not sustainable. Modernized weight loss allows for food flexibility, educates on caloric budgeting, and doesn’t involve any crutches so you can achieve sustainable success and still live life to the fullest. What are the keys to effective weight management? Overly restrictive fad diets are unhealthy and unsustainable. The key to true, long-term weight management is consistency. The good news is, consistency doesn’t mean perfection. The 80/20 rule is a good way to look at it: 80% of the time food is fuel and you make good decisions, and 20% of the time food is fun and you can indulge. To help structure out this method you have to think ahead. Being mindful of your upcoming week can help keep you on track instead of reacting to curveballs. What type of exercise is best for weight loss — weight training or cardio? In order to lose weight, we must burn more calories than we eat, and exercise simply helps us burn more calories than we naturally would. A common misconception is that cardio is better for weight loss, but that’s not necessarily true. By performing resistance training, you encourage the body to retain your valuable muscle tissue which helps keep your metabolism running efficiently as you age. Since muscle burns triple the amount of calories that fat does, retaining muscle mass contributes to a healthy metabolic rate. A proper balance between aerobic exercise and resistance training is the most effective for weight management and overall health and wellness. Are weight loss injections safe, and are they right for me? Weight loss strategy has undergone some drastic changes recently with GLP-1 injections like Ozempic (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide). In order to safely and effectively utilize weight loss injections you must consider a few crucial things. Most importantly, you should be monitored by a practitioner regularly that has the ability to be flexible with your dosing regimen. Also, it’s highly advised you receive nutritional guidance throughout your treatment so you maintain lean mass, aesthetic appearance, and overall health and wellness.

NO TAIL TO TELL HIJACK "Hijack" returns for a high-stakes second season, and the tension is dialed all the way up. When a Berlin underground train and its passengers are taken hostage, chaos unfolds both below and above ground as authorities race to prevent catastrophe. At the center of the crisis is Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), whose splitsecond decisions could mean the difference between survival and disaster. One thing’s clear: there’s no room for error this time.

The new K-drama "No Tail To Tell" follows a woman hiding a supernatural secret and the reporter determined to expose her. As rumors swirl and truths unravel, the past threatens everything she’s built—and the chase turns into a collision of danger, destiny and unexpected emotion.

Following the now cult-status success of the apocalyptic thriller "28 Days Later," "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" brings together Alfie Williams, Jack O’Connell, Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson for a chilling new chapter. Stephen King’s time-twisting thriller starring James Franco returns to the screen in "11.22.63", following a teacher who steps through a portal and lands in 1960 with one mission: stop the Kennedy assassination. But the past fights back, and every choice pulls him deeper into danger, obsession and a history that refuses to change.

Laura Dave returns with "The First Time I Saw Him," the highly anticipated sequel to the #1 "New York Times" bestseller and Apple TV+ hit "The Last Thing He Told Me." here may be a chill in the air, but things are seriously heating up indoors if local fitness studios have anything to say about it. While Bikram yoga was perhaps the first mainstream introduction of intentionally heated group exercise over fifty years ago, new technologies and improved techniques are causing a wave of heated everything, from sculpt and Pilates to strength and mobility sessions. Studios are leaning into infrared warmth, sauna-style recovery and the kind of feel-good sweat that makes a workout feel less like punishment and more like self-care. These aren’t your average “new year, new me” routines. Whether your goal is strength training, meditation or simply shaking off holiday stress, some local studios are turning up the temperature in all the right ways. Each one offers heat, community and a fresh start that just might stick. Here are four studios where you’re guaranteed to warm up and walk out feeling stronger, more flexible and a whole lot happier than when you arrived.

FORM YPS

Form YPS owner Charlotte Colby

Form YPS has quickly become one of Southlake’s “it” boutique fitness destinations, thanks to its Pilates reformer classes, as well as signature heated sculpt, yoga and PiYo (Pilates-Yoga) classes set in a studio heated with infrared panels. “Infrared heat warms the body up internally,” founder Charlotte Colby explains. “It lets aches and pains kind of go away as you get warm in that room.” Inside the hot room, guests can choose from Strength Sculpt, PiYo Sculpt, Cardio Sculpt, vinyasa-based yoga, stretch sessions and fusion formats. “Strength works your big muscles, while PiYo is all those tiny Pilates muscles and core,” Colby says. Cardio Sculpt adds conditioning intervals and higher repetition work, all within the heated environment. “It’s probably our hardest format, with high repetition and cardio built in,” she says. This January also marks a major milestone for the studio: a welcome expansion that creates a full wellness destination, complete with a traditional strength room, standalone infrared saunas, redlight therapy, cold plunges, contrast therapy and a fresh, organic juice bar. “It’s like the mini-Lifetime of Southlake,” Colby says with a smile. Form also offers childcare, a priority Colby calls non-negotiable. “At one point in my life, I couldn’t work out without childcare,” she shares, noting how essential that hour of breathing room can be. Memberships, class packs and open-gym access make the studio approachable for all lifestyles, from occasional drop-ins to consistent weekly training. Photos by Amber Tice Photography.

THE VIBE: Modern, sleek and community-driven, this is the “it girl” of local fitness studios, where infrared sculpt and Pilates feel stylish, social and endlessly energizing. HOW TO FIND IT: In the heart of trendy District 114 at State Hwy. 114 and Kimball Ave., close to the giant silver Fury Athletix dragon. WHAT CLASS TO TAKE FIRST: Try Strength Sculpt for a heated weights-and-cardio burn, or PiYo Sculpt for Pilates-inspired toning that targets tiny stabilizers and feels instantly addictive.

ALIVE STUDIOS

For an experience that feels part wellness, part tech-forward escape, Alive Studio offers a hot yoga environment unlike anything else. Instead of a single instructor guiding each class, the studio features immersive, full-wall cinematic screens that lead you through yoga, sculpt, Pilates, meditation or intervalstyle movement at nearly any time of day. “You don’t need a teacher to teach classes anymore,” says Marketing Consultant Alex Martinez. “We created high-graphics screens that turn the entire wall into one big studio experience.” Classes begin early in the morning and run every 30 minutes into the evening, making consistency refreshingly doable. Miss your target start time? You’re never waiting long. “If you miss one by 15 minutes, you just wait 15 minutes,” Martinez says. “That’s the key.” Alive’s patented heat and humidity system eliminates the cool spots many hot yoga regulars know too well. “Whatever spot you stand on is always the same temperature,” Martinez explains. “People used to rush to the middle because it was the hottest, but now every mat feels exactly right.” Members can take fully guided classes or join a coach-led session for posture support, without added cost. With showers, mats, towels, lockers and frequent cleanings, the whole space is designed for effortless habit-building at a price point below most traditional yoga studios. “It feels like walking into a rainforest,” Martinez says. “People come out drenched and feeling alive.” Photos by Alive Studios THE VIBE: Immersive, cinematic and transportive. It’s like a futuristic hot yoga environment that feels part tech escape, part spa-like sanctuary. HOW TO FIND IT: In Southlake Village Center, near Kroger, centrally located and convenient for early mornings or late evenings. WHAT CLASS TO TAKE FIRST: Start with ATOM, the signature hot yoga experience in ~98° heat and 60% humidity. If you prefer something gentler or less intense, ELECTRON is a great beginner-friendly option — ideal when you want to ease in or return to basics.

COREPOWER YOGA

CorePower Yoga combines modern athletic yoga with a welcoming, music-forward environment that keeps energy high and workouts fun. The studio is fully heated, with classes ranging from 85 to 104 degrees depending on format. “Our forte is Yoga Sculpt at around 95 degrees,” says instructor Heather Jarvis. “We also have Vinyasa flows at about 95F, and Hot Power Fusion — our set sequence — runs between 100F and 104F.” Yoga Sculpt is CorePower’s signature strengthmeets-yoga experience, blending cardio intervals, light weights and upbeat playlists for a consistent sweat. Hot Power Fusion offers the opposite vibe: slower holds, deeper mobility and a repetition-based sequence that allows students to develop a meditative rhythm. “It’s the same class every time you come in,” Jarvis explains. “It lets you develop a relationship with the mental aspect of the practice and with your body. What happens one day won’t happen the day before or after, so it’s very mindful.” CorePower is known for its inclusive community, a vibrant mix of ages, athletic backgrounds and goals. “I’ve taught at a lot of studios,” Jarvis says. “Some feel young or clicky or tied to one demographic. Ours is everyone: college students, parents, professional athletes, people coming back from injury. The room always feels welcoming.” Photo by Corepower Yoga

THE VIBE: Welcoming, athletic and music-forward. Expect expert instruction, a reliable sweat and an inclusive and inspiring community atmosphere. HOW TO FIND IT: Nestled in the Shops of Southlake near Buff City Soap and Mesero, with plenty of parking and post-class food options. WHAT CLASS TO TAKE FIRST: Start with Yoga Sculpt. Muscle meets yoga in this sweat-inducing class that integrates free weights, upbeat tracks and cardio intervals with traditional yoga poses.

LIFE TIME WESTLAKE

Life Time fitness instructor, Sunni Boenker-Wheelwright

Life Time Westlake delivers one of the most dynamic hot class lineups in the area, offering heated yoga formats, sculpt sessions, strength circuits and mindful mobility under one roof. The studio itself is brand new, offering upgraded tech and comfort. “It’s a fantastic studio — brand new everything,” says fan-favorite instructor Sunni Boenker-Wheelwright. “In comparison to some of the other locations, we actually have infrared in our yoga room.” Among the most popular formats is Warrior Sculpt, a heated class that blends power yoga with light dumbbells, upbeat music and athletic strength intervals. “Warrior Sculpt is the most popular yoga format at Life Time Westlake,” Boenker-Wheelwright explains. “We have a 45-minute class and a 60-minute class, and they consistently fill up.” For a fully guided vinyasa experience, SOL Guided Yoga brings steady breath-to-body movement, thoughtful teacher cues and deeply warming heat. The flow loosens major muscle groups and feels both grounding and energizing. Westlake offers multiple hot and lowheat options, including gentler formats for every level. “We have everything — yin and surrender at low heat, a gentle Hatha-style class for long holds and learning shapes, and SOL Guided for that power blend,” Boenker-Wheelwright says. The studio has also embraced a trend taking over TikTok: MB360, a mindful mobility class using 12-lb weighted vests in low heat. “Everyone is into weighted vests right now,” she says. “MB360 isn’t exactly yoga, but it has yoga elements, mind–body connection and meditation. It’s super popular.” With childcare, youth programs, a recovery circuit and approachable class structures, Life Time Westlake creates a wellness space that feels social, supportive and accessible whether you’re new to yoga or craving a fiercely athletic sweat. Group fitness photo by Sunni Boenker-Wheelright, Exterior photo by Life Time. THE VIBE: Chic, multifunctional and country club–adjacent, it’s a polished wellness playground with yoga, sculpt, mobility, courts, family amenities and recovery all in one elevated space. HOW TO FIND IT: Off Sam School Road in Westlake, with ample parking and easy drop-off for parents and young athletes. WHAT CLASS TO TAKE FIRST: Try SOL Guided Yoga, a beautifully balanced class that blends meditation with flowing vinyasa. Think longer holds and grounding energy – perfect for a warm reset.

new year always brings a fresh wave of excitement, and 2026 is already shaping up to be a standout for Southlake. From long-awaited restaurant openings to major retail returns and even a global sports moment landing in our backyard, there’s plenty to look forward to. One of the biggest arrivals is Hudson House, opening in Park Village this summer and bringing its famous “Coldest Martinis in the World,” oyster platters and an upscale East Coast vibe to Southlake. Expect packed brunches, lively date nights and even more kids running around green space by the fountain. Adding to the Town Square buzz, Ascension Coffee has announced plans to open its first Southlake café in Spring 2026, moving into the former Cornery Bakery space at 100 State Street. The Dallas-born specialty coffee brand is known for its ethically sourced, small-

batch roasted coffees, chef-driven food menu and welcoming café atmosphere, making it a natural fit for one of Town Square’s most visible storefronts. Crate & Barrel is also making its long-awaited return to Southlake Town Square, taking over the former Market by Macy’s space. Home décor fans can once again browse furniture, entertaining essentials and seasonal favorites without leaving town. Dakota’s Steakhouse is set to join the lineup as well, adding a refined new option to the area’s dining scene. The iconic Texas brand is known for its classic steaks, white-tablecloth ambiance and timeless, special-occasion energy. And to top it all off, 2026 brings FIFA World Cup matches to DFW, with games at AT&T Stadium drawing fans from around the world. Whether you snag tickets or join a watch party, it’s set to be a landmark moment.

Founder Jennifer Worrel says the model “amplifies generosity while respecting the busy lives we lead.” The group’s inaugural event takes place January 26, 2026, at The Elmore Hotel in Southlake.

GLENN BECK’S WESTLAKE HOME SELLS FOR TOP DOLLAR Texas based broadcaster and entrepreneur Glenn Beck has quietly closed the chapter on his homestead at 2224 King Fisher Drive in Westlake. Originally listed in June for $12.5 million, the property landed a buyer last month at the reduced asking price of $11.75 million. Though the exact sale figure remains private, the transaction marked one of Tarrant County’s top luxury deals of the year, behind the recent auction of the viral Sunshine Lane at over $14 million. The home’s pedigree is clear: built in 2004 by noted developer Cy Barcus for professional golfer Brandt Jobe, the design culminates in elegant finishes, a four-car garage, a private casita, and a full gym.

CARROLL SENIOR RAISES FUNDS FOR CELIAC DISEASE FOUNDATION The Celiac Disease Turkey Trot returned to Southlake for its second year, drawing hundreds of runners, walkers and families while raising more than $9,000 for the Celiac Disease Foundation — a total that placed the event fifth nationwide. The race was led by Carroll Senior High School student Kylie Connor, who was diagnosed with celiac disease at age 10 and has since become a youth advocate for gluten-free safety. Thank you Southlake, for 15 great years."

TOWN SQUARE STAPLE CLOSES AFTER 26 YEARS After nearly three decades as a highly visible fixture in Southlake Town Square, Corner Bakery Café has permanently closed its doors. Along with Crate & Barrel, who recently announced its comeback, the café along Southlake Boulevard was amongst the original tenants when the Square officially debuted in 1999. Thanks to its prime location and tasty breakfast options, Corner Bakery quickly established itself as one of the community’s favorite gathering spots — long before the area became the bustling destination it is today.

TEXAS HEALTH SOUTHLAKE EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake earned its first Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery (ACSS), a national designation recognizing hospitals that meet the highest standards in spine care. ORVIS CLOSES SOUTHLAKE STORE Orvis, the national outdoor retailer known for fly-fishing gear and sporting apparel, closed its Southlake store in Park Village on Dec. 24 as part of a major downsizing of its retail footprint. The company shut down 31 stores and five outlets nationwide, including its Plano location. Orvis, which operated more than 70 locations across the U.S., said the consolidation reflected a return to its fly-fishing roots amid shifting retail pressures. While many storefronts closed, Orvis products remain widely available through independent dealers and national retail partners. The Southlake shop offered significant discounts leading up to its final day.

f you’ve stepped foot anywhere near a Southlake sidewalk lately, you’ve probably noticed a trend: the weighted vest is officially the “it” accessory. Evening walkers? Weighted vest. Pick-up line parents? Weighted vest. That one neighbor who always looks far too energetic at 6 a.m.? Definitely weighted vest. But not all vests are created equal. If we’re honest, most look like they were borrowed from your father's high school football trainer. Enter the OMORPHO G-Vest Icon, a weighted vest that finally understands those of us who like our fitness gear to be functional and fashionable. Think sleek design, modern colors and no bulky sandbags or clunky metal bars.

OMORPHO’s new G-Pack inserts snap seamlessly into place, letting you double the weight of your workout (up to 20 pounds for men, 12 for women) without sacrificing comfort, movement or your dignity. Whether you're power-walking around Bob Jones Park, tackling a weekend hike, or simply trying to make your daily dog walk count as cardio, the vest adjusts in seconds so you can scale resistance on the fly. And the best part? It looks good. Really good. Stylish enough that even if you’re barely breaking a sweat, you’ll still look like you could be training for something impressive. Consider it the fitness upgrade your New Year needs, one weighted plate at a time.

The Resolution Roadmap TRAVEL YOUR WAY INTO NEW YEAR'S GOALS THAT STICK

N

ew Year’s resolutions are easy to make. And even easier to abandon by February. But maybe, just maybe, they’d stick if they felt less like discipline and more like delight. Instead of forcing yourself into another year of rigid routines, what if you turned those resolutions into something you can’t wait to do? Something that is going to... perhaps… keep you motivated to stay on track. Enter: travel. Booking an experience can turn your goals into getaways and add a sense of adventure to your self-improvement work. These trips don’t just check boxes. These are the kind of experiences that enrich, inspire and give you a reason to follow through. It can be your proverbial carrot on a stick. Whether you’re aiming to get stronger, expand your mind or finally take that dream vacation, 2026 is your year to skip the guilt-driven goals and chase experiences that make you feel more alive. Here’s how to turn your resolutions into unforgettable journeys.

36 • JAN 26

SOUTHLAKESTYLE MAGAZINE

RESOLUTION: BE MORE ACTIVE Why spend another year promising yourself you’ll hit the gym when you could trade fluorescent lighting for fresh air and jaw-dropping landscapes? An active resolution becomes a whole lot more appealing when your setting is as motivating as the goal. Hitting the treadmill is a whole lot sweeter when you need to prepare for a grand adventure along Sedona’s red rock trails, with sunrise hikes that glow in shades of coral and gold. You’ll be patting yourself on the back for sticking with all that core work at the gym once you’re on the beach in Costa Rica, heading out for your first surfing lesson. Make a plan to cycle through Napa Valley’s rolling vineyards, where every mile rewards you with postcardperfect scenery. Or even better: a well-earned wine tasting afterward. With these destinations in your future, breaking a sweat won’t feel like punishment. It can feel like freedom, discovery and a reminder that your body is capable of so much more when you give it something to explore.

RESOLUTION: INVEST IN YOURSELF Self-investment doesn’t have to look like another silent retreat or standard spa weekend (though those are lovely, too). In 2026, think bigger. Travel can be a catalyst for reinvention. It can be a chance to sharpen your skills, embrace creativity or map out the next chapter of your life with intention. If your goal is career growth or lifelong learning, consider a quick trip to innovation hubs like Austin or San Francisco, where short immersive courses in AI, digital strategy or leadership leave you smarter and more inspired. And fully capable of figuring out when your kid has been relying a little too much on ChatGPT for ELA homework help. If classrooms aren’t calling, there are other ways to invest in your inner spark: apply to an artist residency in Marfa, join a culinary apprenticeship in Europe or take a writing retreat in an inspiring landscape. These experiences nurture curiosity, confidence and joy, which - let’s face it - are the most meaningful investments you can make.

LET CURIOSITY LEAD Some trips are meant to be felt. Cycle through Napa’s rolling vineyards with Napa Valley Bike Tours, learn to surf at Safari Surf School in Nosara, snorkel vibrant reefs with Brendel’s Dive Tours in the Bahamas, or sharpen your mind with a seminar or continuing education course at Harvard.

JAN 26 • 37

RESOLUTION: EMBRACE A NEW HOBBY There’s something magical about coming home from a trip with a new passion rather than just a suitcase full of souvenirs. Imagine perfecting handmade pasta in Rome, where rolling dough is the local equivalent of meditation. Or spend a long weekend in Santa Fe learning pottery techniques from local artisans whose work is rooted in centuries of tradition. If photography is on your bucket list, there’s no natural classroom quite like Iceland, with its waterfalls, black-sand beaches, glaciers and Northern Lights to guarantee photos your family and friends will drool over. Even if your grasp of aperture is still a work in progress. Hobby-building trips add depth to your travels. They get you out of tourist mode and put you into hands-on, fully immersed experiences where you engage all your senses. Plus, they offer built-in community — fellow students who share your passions and spark new friendships. Whether you’re kneading, molding, stitching, painting, sautéing, or shooting, these adventures let you return home with something far more meaningful than a fridge magnet.

RESOLUTION: STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE If your 2026 resolution is to be braver, or simply to stop letting fear dictate your limits, there’s no better teacher than travel. Facing your fears in a breathtaking location transforms anxiety into exhilaration. Zipline through the cloud forests of Ecuador, soaring above lush canopies as toucans call from below. Dive into the Bahamas’ crystal-clear waters to swim alongside vibrant marine life, discovering a world as peaceful as it is awe-inspiring. Or go paragliding over Switzerland’s snow-capped peaks, where the quiet rush of air and panoramic views remind you what courage feels like. Scary doesn’t have to mean extreme. Maybe it’s taking your first solo trip, trying skiing for the first time or joining a group tour where you don’t know a soul. Any leap outside your comfort zone counts. These moments expand your sense of what’s possible and stay with you long after the adrenaline fades. Fear may show up, but travel teaches you how to walk - or fly - through it.

RESOLUTION: READ MORE If “read more” is always on your resolution list, maybe you just need more motivation. Let books guide your travels. Devour a novel set in Kyoto, Paris or Marrakech, then let the story become your itinerary. Turning reading into wanderlust, and wanderlust into plane tickets, makes this resolution feel less like homework and more like adventure. For a more literary pilgrimage, book a trip head to the storysoaked corners of England, from the Brontë moors in Yorkshire that provided the vivid setting for “Wuthering Heights” to the rolling countryside of Surrey and Sussex, which inspired Jane Austen’s wit and social insight. Reading these stories where they were imagined deepens the experience from just a place to see to stepping into a landscape that still hums with characters, romance and imagination. Whatever your goals, the bottom line is this: travel doesn’t just fulfill resolutions. It reframes them. It shifts the focus from obligation to anticipation, from routine to experience. And resolutions built around something you truly want to do have a way of staying with you long after January fades.

TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE Adventure looks different on everyone. Zipline through the cloud forest in Baños, Ecuador. Chase light and ice at Iceland’s Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. Get hands-on with clay at Paseo Pottery in Santa Fe. Or step into a storybook version of England in Bath — where Jane Austen once walked.

ust when you thought Southlake’s dining scene couldn’t get any better, it just got another welcome jolt. Part of the many exquisite updates from Coury hospitality inside The Elmore Hotel, Sagewind Restaurant & Lounge is quickly becoming the spot people are talking about. And not just because it's shiny and new, but because the food is genuinely memorable. The dining room itself tells part of the story. Open to the hotel’s entrance lobby, it’s one of those spaces where people-watching becomes an unintentional bonus. During the day, the restaurant feels bright and easy, with a steady buzz of travelers and locals passing through; by night, it shifts

into something softer and more intimate, with the kind of warm glow that makes you settle in for “just one more” course. Still, as inviting as the space is, the real draw is what’s coming out of the kitchen. Executive Chef Brandon Williams brings a Modern American Fusion approach, but don't let that phrase scare you off. This isn't fussy, stacked-too-high food. Williams cooks with a balance of comfort and curiosity: Texas roots, global flavors and a style that feels refined without trying too hard. The Dishes You'll Remember If Sagewind ends up famous for something, it might be the Steak Frites. The steak is beauti-

fully seared and served with house-made chimichurri. But the fries might just steal the spotlight. They're tossed with harissa and truffle, crisp-edged and addicting. It's a plate that feels familiar until it doesn't, which is exactly the point. Seafood fans should head straight for the rainbow trout. It arrives with roasted heirloom carrots, heirloom cauliflower and a beurre blanc that's silky without being heavy. It's the kind of dish that sounds simple and straightforward, but lands with surprising elegance. But even if you’re not in the mood for a full meal, the starters are where groups tend to linger. The calamari comes with crispy shishito peppers, lemon, and garlic aioli and disappears fast. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Sushi Rice is ideal for sharing, and the Maple Nashville Hot Chicken Lollipops perfectly hit the sweet-heat balance. Breakfast Means Business On weekday mornings, Sagewind belongs to the business set, travelers and locals alike. Especially now that there is a void in Town Square where Corner Bakery used to be. While the atmosphere is more laptops, coffee refills and people powering through meetings, it's the hearty and delectable breakfast favorites that have guests lining up for a coveted table. Case in point: the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. It's stacked with farm-fresh eggs, applewood-smoked bacon and American cheese and served with perfectly crispy harissa breakfast potatoes. Come the weekend, the energy shifts. Locals take over the dining room with date nights, girls' night outs and families sliding into booths for brunch. With the frequent sounds of live music, it somehow manages to feel cozy and buzzing at the same time. If you're there for brunch, the French Vanilla Brioche is the thing to order: fried brioche with vanilla custard, raspberry dust and vanilla chantilly. The Elmore Breakfast Burger is just plain fun. This burger with gouda, gruyere, a fried egg and crispy bacon is messy in the best way - and kind of perfect with a mimosa. What Sagewind does best is make you want to extend your stay. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's the cocktails, maybe it's the food that keeps surprising you, but it's easy to settle in, whether you're grabbing calamari before a heading to the hotel's swanky speakeasy, Social Outlaw, or staying for a three-course dinner. It's early days for Sagewind, but it already feels like the kind of restaurant that will stick. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch or another round of those harissa truffle fries, there's something about this place that makes every visit feel like an occasion to remember.

For Those In The Know

Southlake’s Speakeasy Made For Drinks And Connection Southlake’s newest bar is small, hidden and open only 15 hours a week — but that’s exactly the point. Social Outlaw, the reservation-only speakeasy inside The Elmore Hotel, is part of a fresh redesign for people who prefer a relaxed, low-key vibe over a packed bar scene. Step inside and the shift is instant. While The Elmore is bright and stylish, Social Outlaw turns the lights down and the mood up. Think warm, amber lighting, soft leather chairs, dark wood details, textured walls and vintage-leaning art that hints at speakeasy culture without being over the top. It’s cozy, comfortable and built for actual conversation — not shouting over music. That balance of refinement and attitude extends as you should expect, to the cocktail list. Guests who lean whiskey will find Saints & Sinners, a smooth mix of Angel’s Envy bourbon, demerara and cherry juice mirrors the lounge’s sweet-but-serious vibe. Tequila lovers can choose Ring of Fire, which brings together Lalo tequila, Ancho Reyes and chamoy for a gentle kick. Fruit-forward favorites like Silk and Sin offer a lighter touch with Flor de Caña rum, strawberries and whipped garnish, while Midnight Reward blends Woodford bourbon with blackberries and Aperol for something rich and refreshing. For the adventurous, Flight Risk is four pours of house-infused liquors. Late night cravings extend to a few lighter bites to snack on, like : brisket tostadas, spicy tuna sushi, lobster corn elote, and a charcuterie and cheese board. Basically, the perfect side dishes to a delicious drink or two. Indeed, Social Outlaw aims to be Southlake’s new go-to for after-dinner drinks, date-night wind-downs or those “we’re not ready to go home yet” evenings. The seating is arranged to feel private but not isolated, and the service keeps things unhurried in the best way. Open Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., and only accessible with a reservation through the front desk, Social Outlaw gives The Elmore a laid-back, hidden hangout that feels special without trying too hard — the kind of place locals will quickly claim as their own.

Ring The Dinner Bell

Clean Comfort Classics Meet Delivery Service In a world of DoorDash dinners and drive-through meals, À Table is out to revive the lost art of gathering around the table - especially for busy families wanting to keep meals fresh and healthy. Founded in 2018 by Josephine Giesen, the Dallasbased chef-led meal delivery service has become a favorite among North Texas households who crave fresh, health-centered, beautifully made meals without the pretense. For Giesen, who grew up in Lebanon surrounded by gardens and nightly family feasts, dinner was more than a meal. It was a daily moment of togetherness, when the family would gather around the table to nourish their bodies with healthy, lovingly prepared meals. “My mother would call out, ‘Les enfants, à table!’ every evening,” she recalls. “It was the most important time of the day.” That phrase, “kids, come to the table!” became the heartbeat of her company, created to bring that sense of connection back to busy modern homes. Working alongside chef Jenny Hajduk, former executive chef at Neiman Marcus, Giesen developed a menu that’s as comforting as it is clean. Available as individual portions or family-sized meals, the dishes blend familiarity with a fresher, more thoughtful approach. Think chicken pot pie made with free-range poultry or meatloaf reimagined with grass-fed beef and avocado or olive oil instead of seed oils. À Table also offers a lineup of à la carte comforts, like healthier panko-crusted chicken nuggets that even the pickiest eaters will beg for, not to mention seasonal vegetable sides that feel far from obligatory. And for those with a sweet tooth? The house-made Pop-Tarts, buttery, jammy and unapologetically nostalgic, are a must-try. “Everything we make is food you’d serve to people you love,” Giesen says. “It’s not about trends, it’s about care.” Today, À Table’s mission remains simple: to nourish not just bodies, but homes and relationships. In an age of constant motion, Giesen’s vision is a reminder that some of life’s best moments still happen around the dinner table.

FIVE MINUTES with ...

A Business Born From Motherhood And The Pursuit Of A Sustainably Peaceful Home

F

or many Southlake families, life moves fast — and Alexis Dodge knows that pace well. Married to Carroll head football coach Riley Dodge and a mom of four, Alexis spent years juggling the X’s and O’s of a career, kids and the constant push to keep her home running smoothly. The Texas A&M grad with a master’s in accounting and a CPA license found calm in creating simple, sustainable systems that made daily life easier. That passion soon grew into Your Neat Haven, her home-organization company that now helps local families transform cluttered spaces into functional, peaceful places to live and recharge.

MY BACKGROUND IS ACTUALLY IN ACCOUNTING… I graduated with my master’s from Texas A&M and earned my CPA license. As a working mom juggling a career, shuttling kids to activities, keeping up a social life and maintaining a home, I learned how overwhelming it can all feel. I found that creating maintainable systems gave me sanity — and now I’m determined to help others experience that same relief. WORKING IN SOUTHLAKE HAS SHAPED MY APPROACH… While some homes are new, many were built in the ’90s without modern storage solutions. That challenge has pushed our team to refine systems that reduce clutter while enhancing natural flow and aesthetics. Southlake families are incredibly busy and active, so I’ve learned to create solutions that feel elevated but are also practical and easy to maintain. WITH FOUR CHILDREN, OUR HOUSE IS BUSY… Which surprisingly makes me better at this work. I don’t aim for perfect; I aim for sustainable. Every item has a place, every space has a purpose and everyone knows the system. I involve my kids so they learn responsibility and ownership — but I’ve also learned to give myself grace. There are seasons when I need help with laundry or other tasks. It truly takes a village. MAINTAINING A SYSTEM IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS CREATING IT… Which is why we offer ‘Neat Membership’ sessions to keep previously organized spaces refreshed. Decluttering is an

ongoing process. I always recommend keeping a dedicated “donate” bin in your home and making regular trips to your favorite charity — it keeps the clutter from creeping back in. ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING PROJECTS… It was our very first full move-in project after I launched YNH. They had spent a year out of their home during a complete gut and expansion. When construction was finished, we were brought in to unpack and organize every square inch. During the final walkthrough, watching their reactions — the joy, the excitement, the sense of finally being home — reminded me exactly why I started this company. WHAT BRINGS ME THE MOST JOY… Seeing a space shift from overwhelming to peaceful. When clients walk into a room and breathe easier — when their environment finally supports them — that transformation is everything. I love creating systems, but more than that, I love seeing how people feel when their home becomes a haven. WHEN WE FINISH A PROJECT, I HOPE FAMILIES FEEL… A sense of calm. I want them to walk into each space and feel like everything has a home and that their daily routines just became a little easier. Most of all, I want them to feel empowered — like these systems aren’t just beautiful, but maintainable. Photo by Amber Tice Photography

Park City’s Enduring Appeal

Accessible Adventure And Relaxed Luxury In This Mountain Town

T

here’s a comforting ease to Park City, Utah. With mountains rising directly behind historic Main Street, a lift that starts in the middle of downtown and two world-class resorts just minutes apart, Park City delivers the rare combination of big-mountain adventure and small-town convenience. For travelers looking for a destination that’s both polished and logistically practical, this is the kind of winter getaway that comes together almost effortlessly.

A Perfect Park City Ski Day

For skiers, Park City begins the moment you wake up. Grab a quick breakfast at Five5eeds — known for its Australian-inspired plates and just-strong-enough flat whites — and then head straight to the slopes. If you’re staying near Main Street, the Town Lift is one of Park City’s most memorable perks: step aboard right from downtown, take

a scenic ride over rooftops and treetops and glide directly into more than 7,000 acres of skiable terrain at Park City Mountain. The resort’s wide groomers, playful bowls and approachable glades make it ideal for groups with mixed abilities. Ski school locations are easy to reach, rental shops cluster near the lifts and most days have a relaxed energy that favors families and first-time visitors. A short shuttle ride away, Deer Valley offers a different kind of experience — famously uncrowded, skier-only runs and some of the best grooming in the country. It’s the spot for travelers who want impeccable service, buttery corduroy and a quieter, more refined feel. By midday, the rhythm of a Park City ski day slows just slightly. Skiers often break for a bowl of turkey chili at Deer Valley’s Silver Lake Lodge or meet back in town for après snacks. And with soft afternoon light settling over the

Wasatch mountains, the last few runs of the day are often the most peaceful.

A Refined And Relaxed Stay

Park City’s lodging scene is elevated, comfortable and intentionally convenient. Many properties offer slope-adjacent access, ski valets and expansive lounges designed for long, relaxing evenings by the fire. For those who appreciate thoughtful luxury, The St. Regis Deer Valley is a standout. A mountainside funicular carries guests to the resort, where ski valets handle fittings and storage with ease and the outdoor pool offers sweeping winter views. It’s an excellent home base for families. Nearby, Stein Eriksen Lodge — Utah’s only Forbes Five-Star hotel and spa — delivers classic Alpine coziness inspired by its legendary namesake Olympian. Crackling hearths, lodge-style common areas and a ski-in, ski-out setup give it a timeless charm. Travelers seeking something smaller-scale will appreciate the Washington School House Hotel, a beautifully restored 1889 schoolhouse reimagined as a boutique luxury property. Wherever you stay, the theme is the same: generous spaces, inviting fireplaces and staff who help ski days, meals and activities unfold with minimal effort.

Eat, Shop And Play

Afternoons in Park City are made for Main Street. Its colorful Victorian-era façades house art galleries, slope-friendly cafés and boutiques that blend Western style with modern mountain fashion. Travelers often wander into Park City Jewelers for handcrafted pieces or Burns Cowboy Shop for boots and hats with a local flare. Dining options are warm and welcoming. High West Distillery & Saloon, the world’s only ski-in, ski-out distillery, offers bison burgers, elk chili and award-winning whiskeys like their Rendezvous Rye,in a lively Western atmosphere. Riverhorse on Main serves dishes like macadamia-crusted halibut and tripleberry duck, all in an elegant setting overlooking Main Street. It’s consistently ranked among Utah’s top restaurants. If your trip happens in January, Park City takes on an entirely different energy during the Sundance Film Festival. Independent filmmakers, actors, industry insiders and film lovers pack theaters and sidewalks, giving the town a vibrant, creative buzz that lasts all day and well into the night. While the skiing is exceptional, Park City offers plenty for nonskiers or those looking to mix things up. Visitors can snowshoe through quiet forests, book a guided fat-tire biking outing or explore the Utah Olympic Park, home to bobsled courses, ski jumps and athlete training facilities. Spa lovers have their pick of luxury treatments at the St. Regis Remède Spa or Stein Eriksen’s alpine spa, both of which are ideal after long days outdoors. Evenings are made for warm, unhurried downtime — soaking in an outdoor hot tub with snow falling, strolling past the glow of Main Street storefronts or settling into a cocktail bar before calling it a night. With ski lifts in the heart of town, two premier resorts, walkable streets, a strong dining and arts scene and winter activities for every traveler, Park City is a place where the perfect ski day comes together naturally.
