With the Torreón in the background and the sea at their backs, the people of La Cala were informed of the programme for their festivities, a fair that will fill the town with light and colour from the 24th to the 28th of July. A lifelong Caleña, businesswoman and member of one of the most deeply-rooted families in La Cala, Lola Arroyo was in charge of giving the proclamation for the festivities. A tradition lover and a regular at the fair, Arroyo looked back to remember the most beautiful moments of this celebration, while she thanked ‘life, for every day that dawns and for being able to enjoy La Cala and its people’, and concluded by saying ‘Long live La Cala de Mijas, long live its fair and long live its people’. After her speech, the town crier, together with the mayoress Ana Mata, unveiled the official poster of the fair, while the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín, described the activities and concerts that can be enjoyed during these festive days / Photo: Amanda Gómez.
