T h e M ij a s F a ir G ea rs U p Excitement for the fair is already building, and this was evident on the night of Friday 23rd at the Miguel González Berral Municipal Auditorium, where Juan Francisco Aguilera, town crier for the festivities, delivered a truly ‘chichilargo’ speech, full of nostalgia, joy and emotion, to officially announce the start of the big celebrations in honour of the town’s patron saint. The fair also features an official poster, designed by photographer Carlos Hevilla, and, of course, a programme of events for all ages, running from the 6th to the 11th of September. Highlights include free concerts at the municipal booth, the daytime fair in La Muralla, the running of inflatable bulls, chocolate and buñuelos, Children’s Day with rides at reduced prices, and the procession of the Virgen de la Peña on the 8th September / Alberto Lago.
