The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno Bonilla, officially inaugurated the Ana Carmona ‘Veleta’ secondary school in Las Lagunas on Friday 14th, accompanied by the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, the school’s director, Encarnación Gutiérrez, other authorities and educational community. With a configuration of six lines and capacity for 720 students, it is the largest educational centre of its kind in Andalusia. The centre not only responds to the growing demand for education in Mijas but also sets a new standard in terms of infrastructure, methodology and equipment. In addition, it is, according to Moreno Bonilla, ‘one of the major investments of the Andalusian Government in education’, to which it has allocated 7.4 million euros / Francisco M. Romero.
