Mijas is already shining for Christmas. The Virgen de la Peña square hosted the official switching on of the Christmas lights, as this year it was Mijas Pueblo’s turn to be the stage for this long awaited moment that welcomes this magical time of the year. The Mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, and the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín, were in charge of inaugurating this year’s Christmas illumination, which now decorates some thirty streets and squares in the municipality. The event featured performances by the Mijas Music Band, the gospel choir ‘Hoy es Tiempo’ and a dance performance by Reme Fernández’s students. There was also a foam cannon and a Christmas village with Father Christmas’ house and stalls with typical Christmas products / M.C.
