The Mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata, supervised the Municipal Emergency Plan at all times.
Just like the rest of the province, Mijas was on alert throughout Wednesday 13th. The town managed to minimise the possible risks of the DANA thanks to the implementation of the Municipal Emergency Plan. The operation did not let their guard down during all the hours when the red warning for heavy rain was in effect, with 60 people who remained on duty during the night of Wednesday 13th and the early hours of Thursday 14th until all the alerts were lifted. Fortunately, the rains did not produce any notable incidents in Mijas, except for some material damage in the area of La Cala, where there was a tornado. In this sense, the mayoress Ana Mata, highlighted the coordination work between Local Police, Firefighters and Civil Protection and thanked the “collaboration and responsibility of the citizens”, who followed the official recommendations, avoiding unnecessary journeys / Photo: L.
