The patron saint of Mijas is ready to go out in procession on her big day, the 8th of September. On Thursday 29th, the Virgen de la Peña was transferred from her hermitage, in El Compás, to the parish church of the Inmaculada Concepción where, after the procession, the traditional floral offering took place. With this event, the countdown begins for the Mijas Fair 2024, which will be inaugurated on Wednesday 4th with the giants and cabezudos (big-heads) parade, the switching on of the lighting and the election of the queen, king and their companions. / Photo: A.
