ELC Fellowship Program 25

Entrepreneurial Leadership Consulting (ELC) Fellowship Program PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Entrepreneurial Leadership Consulting (ELC) Fellowship Program connects select Morehouse students with businesses participating in Ascend National to address real-world business challenges. ELC Fellows work directly with participating companies to research defined challenge statements, analyze opportunities, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations that support business growth and scale. ELC is delivered through MIEC’s Startup Studio as part of the Consulting House track, providing students with meaningful experiential learning while giving Ascend companies access to fresh perspectives, research, and strategic insights. Fellows are selected through a competitive application and interview process focused on analytical thinking, communication, professionalism, reliability and leadership potential. Throughout the fellowship, they are advised by experienced consultants and project managers, including Morehouse alumni and professionals with Big Four consulting experience. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO • Provide Ascend businesses with focused research, analysis and recommendations around a challenge they identify. • Give Consulting Fellows rigorous, real-world consulting experience under the guidance of experienced advisors. • Develop the next generation of business leaders while providing meaningful support to participating businesses. THE PROGRAM RUNS FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH MARCH IN TWO PHASES

RESEARCH & DISCOVERY

CLIENT ENGAGEMENT & RECOMMENDATIONS

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER

JANUARY - MARCH

Consulting Fellows research the assigned business and its challenge statement, examining the company, business model, industry and competitive landscape. Fellows provide three written updates during the semester, culminating in a Business Challenge Assessment on Nov. 16 that includes a SWOT analysis, key findings and an initial hypothesis.

Fellows who advance to the second semester work directly with their Ascend business owner to validate research, deepen analysis and develop practical recommendations. Fellows participate in three Zoom meetings with the business owner, with guidance from their Student Business Advisor. The final meeting is the client presentation of findings, recommendations and proposed next steps.

Private project portal: Engagement materials are shared through a private folder accessible only to the Business Owner, Consulting Fellow and Student Business Advisor.
