Our department understands that PEOPLE are what truly matter in any collaborative space. We are committed to fostering an environment that will help students feel welcomed, heard, and accomplished while making lifelong memories along the way.

Choose which scholarship area within the Arts best suits your talent, career path, or passion! This will be your primary area in the Arts. While scholarships are offered based on a student’s primary area, students are also encouraged to be involved as many areas of the arts as they would like!
Total scholarship amounts are determined through the audition process, however, students are guaranteed a starting amount based on their GPA. This starting amount is called their Base Award. Look for your GPA below to see what your minimum guaranteed scholarship amount would be. All scholarships are renewable for up to four years.
Are you looking to continue to share your voice with the world? Take part in our fun, welcoming, and talented Vocal Music program at Midland University.
Receive a scholarship to sing in the university choir, perform in our contemporary a capella ensemble, The Clef Dwellers, or in our vocal jazz ensemble, The BlueNotes! By being involved in our Vocal Music scholarship area, you also travel around the country during our annual Choir Tour!
In our three ensembles, University Choir, Clef Dwellers, and BlueNotes, singers can experience everything from classic choral pieces to contemporary a cappella and vocal jazz
Students have opportunities to travel with the choir locally and nationally.
Warriors in Clef Dwellers and BlueNotes have opportunities to perform at different local venues and on campus events.
Our vocal music department connects Warriors from many different interest areas and majors across campus.

Our Instrumental Music program is crafted to be inclusive and welcoming to all students who wish to participate. Our faculty and staff meet you at your skill level and push you to perform to your highest potential. We believe building your repertoire is important, so we play literature spanning over four centuries while remaining relevant through technological resources and cutting-edge music.
Established in 1925, the Midland University Band has been a rich part of campus life for nearly a century. Membership is open to all students and represents a true cross-section of the Midland University student population.
The bands at Midland University provide growth opportunities for their members through participation in performances of the highest level. In addition to the Concert Band, students can also express themselves in our jazz ensemble, small groups, and pit orchestra.
Dr. Patrick Fortney Director of Instrumental Music
