During the 2022–2026 administration, the Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Region demonstrated exceptional commitment to executing the international program, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, through sustained, measurable, and award-winning impact across all six programmatic targets Guided by strategic leadership, chapter engagement, and intentional regional coordination, the Mid-Atlantic Region delivered transformative outcomes that strengthened sisterhood, empowered families, expanded economic opportunity, advanced social justice, protected the environment, and uplifted local communities.

Undergraduate sorors distinguished themselves by maintaining perfect 4.0 grade point averages.
These achievements affirm that the Mid-Atlantic Region prepares undergraduate sorors to lead with purpose and empowers them to excel academically and pursue excellence in every dimension.



In addition to regional programming, Mid-Atlantic undergraduates also participated each year in the International Undergraduate Summit at Leadership Seminar and Boule, ensuring consistent exposure to international leadership training and reinforcing the region’s commitment to preparing undergraduate sorors for future service at every level of the sorority



REGIONAL UNDERGRADUATE ENGAGEMENT
Undergraduate engagement was a central priority of this administration, with multiple large-scale opportunities created for undergraduates to learn, connect, and grow as leaders The Mid-Atlantic Region hosted two undergraduate cluster meetings and one regional undergraduate summit, bringing over 1,500 undergraduate sorors together during this administration from across North Carolina and the Commonwealth of Virginia for meaningful leadership development and sisterly connection.

Sorors attended regional conferences
Soror Nadine Vargas Stewart curated new signature events, including the Legacy Luncheon, AKA Sing-Along, Sip and Paint, Vendor Fashion Shows, and Sisterhood Day Party, and revived the Step Show and Stroll Off Exhibition, to foster joy and sisterly connection
Enhanced leadership development through innovative programming such as the Regional Director’s Leadership Panel, Graduate Advisors C.O.N.N.E.C.T forums, undergraduate led workshops developed by undergraduates for undergraduate sorors, a job fair hosting over 1000 job seekers and 60 organizations offering opportunities, and themed experiential spaces such as French Gardens at the 72 MARC and the Hall of Legends, honoring our legacy, excellence, and regional history. nd




Legendary entertainment from A-list performers and guests included Soror Erica Campbell, Soror Tika Sumpter, Soror Gizelle Bryant, Doug E. Fresh, DJ Spinderella, DJ Kid Capri, DJ Lonnie B, DJ Skillz, gospel icon Hezekiah Walker, gospel award-winning artist Jekalyn Carr, Kelonte Gavin, Raheem DeVaughn, Slick Rick, Sugar Hill Gang, Furious 5, Big Daddy Kane, and Petey Pablo, along with live bands such as Sumthin 4 the People, Anissa & The Mix, and the Legacy Band.

Designed to bring together graduate, undergraduate, and general members in a spirit of unity and fun. foster joy, fellowship, and foster authentic sisterly connection, these gatherings included shared cultural and entertainment experiences, such as the Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight concerts, Ruth Carter exhibit at the NC Art Museum, private movie screenings Wicked, NC State Fair meet-ups, and celebratory events

Recognizing the increasing pressures faced by today’s college students, the Mid-Atlantic Region made an intentional investment in mental health resources by partnering with Talkspace and Talkspace Go: SelfGuided Meditation App, innovative platforms designed to support emotional wellness, stress management, and personal growth These tools help build healthier, happier individuals by empowering sorors to take meaningful steps toward improved mental well-being in as little as five minutes a day.

Digital newsletters, timely eblasts and MAR Notes strengthened communications ensuring consistent, transparent, and responsive information-sharing. Social media engagement grew significantly, with an increase of over 15K followers across regional platforms, reflecting expanded digital reach and deeper connection with members The region produced documentaries highlighting the leadership journeys of current and former Regional Directors, along with a feature co-produced with the North Atlantic Region featuring Soror Phylicia Rashad discussing her memories of sisterhood and treatured moments in Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Expanding the footprint of the Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Region was a significant accomplishment of this administration, reflecting intentional growth, strategic planning, and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of communities across North Carolina and the Commonwealth of Virginia








These two historic celebrations gathered over 1,695 Mid-Atlantic Region sorors participated alongside sorors from the North Atlantic Region, creating unforgettable moments of fellowship, cultural pride, and collective reflection

CLUSTER MEETING RECAP
The Elite Eastern Carolina Cluster demonstrated exceptional generosity by collecting over 1,800 purses and accessory sets for Dress for Success and raising over $2,500 through a purse and fur raffle and community partner and sponsor donations for the Mid-Atlantic Disaster Relief Fund. In another year, the cluster donated $1,500 to Wayne Uplift Resource Association, Incorporated, the domestic violence and sexual assault service provider for Wayne County, along with personal care items, sheet sets, and gift cards


The Noteworthy Northern Western Virginia Cluster contributed $4,759.64 to Legacy Project, Inc. in support of the Legacy Museum of African American History in Lynchburg, Virginia, donated over $14,000 to the Heart of Gold Sickle Cell Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia, provided 3,800 items to The Haven in Charlottesville, Virginia, and contributed over $6,300 to FACES in Farmville, Virginia.



The Noble Noted Northern Carolina Cluster further advanced community uplift by donating $3,848 to the United Way of Danville–Pittsylvania County to support the ALICE Project, which assists employed residents who are Asset Limited and Income Constrained and need additional support for sustainable living In another year, sorors collected over $1,600 and 14,000 items to donate to Oak City Cares Oak City Cares connects with individual and at-risk families to coordinate services for stable housing and renewed hope

The Tenacious Tidewater Cluster made a significant impact by collecting over 32,000 women’s hygiene items to assemble 574 toiletry bags in support of the Pretty in Pink service project with the Portsmouth Homeless Alliance Consortium In another year, the Tenacious Tidewater Cluster collected 546 blankets, 309 pairs of socks, 72 sets of gloves, 75 hats, and 29 scarves for the So All May Eat (SAME) community initiative hosted by Hampton Baptist Church, which provides meals, clothing, mobile food pantry access, and critical social and medical services to unsheltered and lowincome community members
The Wonderful Western Carolina Cluster collected 7,653 items for its Finding Hope service project and, in another year, gathered nearly 1,100 items for two community service initiatives Home4Me, a nonprofit organization providing Hope, Opportunities, Mentoring, and Education, and Phasing Up, a program at Johnson C Smith University supporting students who experienced foster care The cluster also collected items and monetary gifts for individuals impacted by Hurricane Helene in Western Carolina.
