MUSE VEN

Memorial Hall in Philadelphia, PA, home of the Please Touch Museum, a popular choice for corporate events

EUMS & CREATIVE NUES FOR EVENTS Unique venues like museums, theaters, mansions, and gardens serve as great ice breakers and conversation starters when hosting meetings and events. They provide built-in entertainment, memorable settings, and impressive architecture along with state-of-the-art offerings.

When the event space needs to be eye-catching, captivating, and memorable, choosing a venue with creative spaces and environs can provide one-of-a-kind moments that will keep attendees talking about the experience long after it has ended. According to Nathan Davis, director of marketing and creative, Rhubarb Hospitality Collection (RHC), “One of the greatest advantages of hosting an event at a cultural venue is that the setting is already part of the experience. The architecture, history, and character create an immediate sense of place before a single design element is introduced.” Please Touch Museum at Memorial Hall pairs the grandeur of a landmark built for the 1876 Centennial Exposition with a sense of imagination and discovery. The Kimmel Center brings a completely different energy, with its sweeping glass canopy, abundant natural light, and open architecture creating a dramatic sense of scale, while the National Constitution Center pairs striking views of Independence Mall with bold, respectful modern architecture that complements its historic surroundings. “Each offers more than a beautiful backdrop,” says Davis, “it gives an event an identity and a genuine connection to Philadelphia that guests remember. These distinctive settings also create opportunities for unexpected moments that feel natural to the venue, whether that is a surprise performance, a special culinary presentation, or 12 Septemberz October2026

Davis notes that the venue communicates something about the importance of an occasion before the program even begins. Bringing guests into a cultural institution or landmark creates a sense that they are participating in something distinctive. There also is an emotional connection that is difficult to recreate through décor alone. “Whether surrounded by American history at the National Constitution Center, the energy of the performing arts at the Kimmel Center, or the legacy and fortitude of Memorial Hall, guests experience these Philadelphia desti-

nations in a new way,” Davis explains. “That added context can transform a dinner, reception, or gathering into an experience that stays with guests well beyond the event itself,” continues Davis. “It also gives planners a meaningful foundation for creating what we think of as ‘wow moments’ - unexpected details that make guests feel genuinely cared for, welcomed, and also surprised.” At Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, food and beverage are considered part of a fully immersive guest experience. From abundant displays and chef-attended stations to plated dinners, curated beverage moments, and late-night offerings,

their teams look for creative ways to make hospitality feel generous, engaging, and connected to the setting, with “deliciously different” culinary solutions, Davis asserts. “We are also inspired by the idea of unreasonable hospitality: looking beyond what is expected and finding thoughtful ways to create a moment of delight for each guest,” says Davis. “That might be a surprise tasting, a beautifully presented late-night bite, a personalized detail, or an unexpected culinary interaction that gives guests something to talk about. These moments do not have to be extravagant; they simply need to feel intentional, personal, and a little unexpected.” This approach extends beyond the menu, too. Service style, presentation, pacing, and guest interaction all are considered, with their culinary and hospitality teams working together to create moments of discovery throughout an event. Seasonal ingredients, cultural traditions, dietary preferences, and the identity of the oc-

casion all can help shape an experience that feels personal and intentional. The goal is to maximize every touchpoint of hospitality so guests feel genuinely looked after from arrival through departure, and to create a few memorable moments along the way that feel almost impossible to have planned. “Cultural venues and museums can distinguish an event by allowing the destination itself to become part of the programming,” says Davis. “Depending on the venue, format and availability, planners can explore private exhibit access, guided experiences, live entertainment, and interactive programming that encourage guests to engage with the setting.” At the National Constitution Center, that might mean experiencing exhibitions as part of the evening; at Please Touch Museum, the historic Dentzel Carousel and museum environment can bring an unexpected

sense of discovery; and the Kimmel Center naturally offers inspiration through its connection to the performing arts. “This past year alone, we have helped welcome America’s 250th, the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide in Philadelphia, and a range of milestone celebrations, cultural moments, and nationally significant events across our venues,” Davis asserts. “It is a privilege to help shape the hospitality around moments that bring people together and become part of the city’s story.” The Loch Aerie Mansion offers a unique atmosphere, historic architecture, elegant interiors, grand staircase, attractive ballroom, and surrounding grounds that provide a natural sense of character and sophistication. “Rather than starting with a blank event space, event hosts have a venue filled with distinctive details and photo-worthy backdrops from the moment their guests arrive,” explains Violet Schmidt, event specialist, Loch Aerie Mansion and John Serock Catering. “Every area of the mansion can create a different feeling, whether it is an intimate gathering in the parlor, cocktails surrounded by the mansion’s historic charm, or a celebration in the Grand Ballroom.” The architecture itself becomes part of the décor, allowing events to feel elevated and memorable without a need to completely transform the space. 18 Septemberz October2026

“Hosting an event at a historic and award-winning venue like Loch Aerie Mansion gives attendees an experience that goes beyond simply attending a party or gathering,” says Schmidt. “Guests are stepping into a property with history, character, and a story of its own, which immediately makes the occasion feel more special.” Schmidt adds that there also is something memorable about being able to tell guests, “This is where we are celebrating.” The setting creates a sense of occasion and gives guests an opportunity to explore and appreciate the property while enjoying the event itself. For corporate events, celebrations, weddings, and other special occasions, the venue becomes part of the memory that guests take home with them. The property also provides opportunities to incorporate outdoor areas when weather and event plans allow. This flexibility makes it possible to use different areas for ceremonies, cocktail hours, photographs, receptions, and other portions of the event. “The ability to move between spaces is particularly valuable because it allows each part of the event to have its own atmosphere while still feeling cohesive,” Schmidt explains. “Whether a host is envisioning an intimate gathering, a cocktail-style celebration, a larger event, or a formal wedding, Loch Aerie provides a variety of spaces that can be customized to fit the occasion.”

The on-site experience is complemented by the flexibility and variety offered through John Serock Catering, from passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour to plated dinners, buffets, and stations, there are options to accommodate different styles of events and different preferences. Menus can include multiple entrée selections, vegetarian options, creative hors d’oeuvres, desserts, specialty stations, and customized food experiences. Beverage service also can be tailored to the event, including hosted bars, specialty cocktails, mocktails, and signature drinks.

“One of the biggest advantages is having the food, beverage, and event experience thoughtfully curated to your specific tastes,” says Schmidt. “The goal is not simply to serve a meal, but to create a menu and service style that complements the atmosphere of the event and keeps guests engaged throughout the celebration.” “Meeting attendees who travel to get to an event do not want to travel even more after they arrive,” observes Kelly Ronalds, general manager, Historic Hotel Bethlehem. “That is why so many meeting planners love Historic Hotel Bethlehem. Once you arrive, you truly are steps away from many attractions and activities.” “You do not even have to step outside the hotel to experience some of them,” Ronalds continues. “Stop in the Mural Ballroom to see the Mid-AtlanticEvEntSMagazine 19

historic George Gray Murals. The murals, painted in 1936, share the story of Bethlehem’s history from the colonial era through the industrial age. Historic Hotels of America and USA Today have recognized the collection as museum-worthy. Over in the Tap Room, you can browse our gallery of famous former guests while enjoying a beer, cocktail, or one of our very popular specialty mocktails.” And once guests walk outside the hotel’s door, they find themselves on America’s #1 Best Main Street (as voted by USA Today’s 10Best Readers Choice Awards), where there are more than 50 boutique shops and restaurants at which to browse and buy. “You also are right next to a UNESCO World Heritage Site - The Moravian Settlements-Bethlehem,” Ronalds notes. “The hotel has partnered with Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites (HBMS) to provide special tour packages of the city’s historic sites. Meeting planners love that we are a central stop shop to book your meetings, meals, overnight rooms, and activities. We find the Old Bethlehem Walking Tour to be very popular. HBMS regularly hosts group tours of The Moravian Settlements-Bethlehem, so the infrastructure is already in place to handle meeting and event groups. Groups can go at their own pace and tour guides are mindful of individual scheduling and timing needs. “Through our special partnership with HBMS, we can arrange custom tour times for groups,” says Ronalds. “We also can arrange for guides to share historic stories that relate to your company goals. For example, if you are focusing on teamwork, your guide can share stories about how Moravian settlers worked together, each using their unique individual skills, to build America’s first industrial park.” Groups can even invite a historic guide in 18th century attire to join their meeting. “Guests love having local historians join them in the Executive Conference Center,” notes Ronalds. “If you really want to fire up your attendees, we can get you out of the conference room and into a working blacksmith shop. The 1750 Smithy is an historic location that is perfect for some fiery team building activities where everyone gets to try their hand at old-fashioned blacksmithing.” 22 Septemberz October2026

Historic Hotel Bethlehem has two on-site, award winning restaurants, as well as an ice cream parlor located just across the street. The property also can privately cater, and their team regularly works with planners to create custom menus for meetings and corporate events. “Our restaurants include the casual Tap Room, which is a great place to hold a closing event for the weekend,” says Ronalds. “You will be surrounded by portraits of our famous former guests, which make for great conversation. There also is the elegant 1741 on the Terrace, which many meeting planners like to use for welcome receptions. Its giant palladium windows overlook America’s Best Main Street and some popular historic sites, like the blacksmith shop.” The Hotel B Ice Cream Parlor is a great post-meeting dessert destination, offering dozens of flavors of worldfamous Penn State Creamery ice cream. The old-fashioned ice cream parlor ambiance is a fun addition to any event. Additional dessert options available on Main Street include Cluster’s Handcrafted Popcorn and La Macron French Pastries.

National Liberty Museum brings liberty to life in the heart of Old City Philadelphia, connecting the powerful stories of the past to the possibilities of tomorrow. Old City is steeped in history, but also is filled with a vibrant energy. Amid all of it is the National Liberty Museum, offering an adaptable event venue in a historic building that features impressive galleries across four expansive floors. Spanning 30,000-square feet, including inspiring exhibits and original architectural features throughout, the property boasts a variety of flexible rental spaces that can accommodate anywhere from 25 to 350 people for a range of gatherings any time of year. Ideal for corporate events, the museums’ meeting rooms are equipped with all necessary amenities for a seamless experience, and a dedicated event team works closely with planners to ensure that every detail is flawlessly executed.

National Liberty Museum offers a range of on-site guided tour opportunities, as well, and can customize on request, based on areas of interest and connections to exhibition themes. Tours last approximately one hour. The museum also offers a memorable Liberty Bell photo opportunity where visitors can take part in a hands-on bell-ringing experience that features a fullsize foundry-cast exact replica of the original Liberty Bell. Visitors can get close to the replica bell, take photos, touch it, and even ring it! While the original Liberty Bell is preserved nearby at the Liberty Bell Center, this experience offers a close-up, interactive experience. The museum also offers a two-hour, one-mile walking tour through the heart of Old City. Along the way, guests connect with colonial Philadelphians through stories told by experienced tour guides. “One of the most compelling advantages of choosing a unique venue is that the setting itself becomes part of the experience. At Longwood Gardens, the beauty, horticulture, and artistry of Longwood as part of the celebration experience,” observes Kevin Kessler, director of event sales at Longwood Gardens. “Depending on the season and event date, guests may explore our Gardens, experience spectacular fountain performances, enjoy seasonal displays, or simply spend time discovering Longwood before during and after the event,” Kessler adds. “These built-in experiences create natural moments of entertainment and connection.” For clients, this means that the venue helps tell the story of the event. Whether it is a corporate meeting, gala, or social celebration, Longwood provides a sense of place and discovery that guests will long remember. “There is something extraordinary about experiencing Longwood after the Gardens have closed to the public, and that private access makes the event even more memorable,” says Kessler. “For guests and VIPs, private access to areas of the Gardens, an evening fountain experience, or simply the opportunity to enjoy Longwood in a more intimate setting transforms a traditional event into a truly unforgettable occasion.”

“Ultimately,” Kessler continues, “our greatest offering is the experience of Longwood itself. We can provide exceptional spaces, hospitality, and floristry, but it is the combination of those elements with the beauty and uniqueness of the Gardens that creates an event guests are unlikely to experience anywhere else.” Another important part of the overall event experience at Longwood Gardens is food and beverage. Through their culinary partnership with Restaurant Associates, they create offerings tailored to a wide variety of events, from breakfast and lunch experiences to cocktail receptions, elegant plated dinners, and customized experiences. “Our culinary team works with clients to create food and beverage offerings that complement the occasion, season, and setting,” says Kessler. “What makes dining at Longwood particularly special is the opportunity to pair exceptional food, beverage, and hospitality with the beauty of the Gardens. Food and beverage becomes another part of creating a memorable and distinctly Longwood experience.” Longwood Gardens features a variety of indoor and outdoor settings for events, allowing for the creation of experiences that can feel very different depending on the size and style of a gathering. “We offer spaces ranging from The Fountain Room to our historic Music room and Ballroom, The Legacy room and our spectacular Main Conservatory, giving clients options for corporate meetings, galas, weddings, and other celebrations,” Kessler notes. “That flexibility allows us to think beyond simply providing an event space, and instead, to create extraordinary experiences throughout Longwood tailored to each occasion.” Unique venues like these present exciting opportunities for planners in search of memorable spaces for meetings, events, and group outings. Choosing venues like these adds to the overall experience, and provides one-of-a-kind moments that will be long remembered in unique settings and spaces.

Winter & Holiday Happenings With the arrival of fall comes the knowledge that winter and the holiday season are not far behind. Destinations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are planning several festivals, unique experiences, activities, and holiday offerings.

The following represents just some of what awaits throughout the region. The cooler weather provides enjoyable travel opportunities with fewer crowds and festive offerings during this spirited time of year. Valley Forge and Montgomery County, PA offers some of the best shopping experiences in the U.S., from King of Prussia Mall and Philadelphia Premium Outlets to charming downtown districts like Skippack and Ambler. This unique mix of retail options makes the area an ideal winter and holiday destination, especially during a season filled with shopping lists. For events hosted in Valley Forge, attendees may want to add a day or two before or after the program to shop and explore. Hotel West & Main, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has hosted its Winter Market in the plaza for the past few years, and it returns again in 2026. Held on select weekend days throughout December, the market offers a unique opportunity to browse local makers and vendors and has become a popular option for visiting groups and residents alike. Also worth noting, Valley Forge Tourism offers financial incentives throughout the year, and winter groups may be eligible for an even stronger rebate. Incentives begin at $5 per consumed room night and can increase based on the season and the group’s total size. 28 Septemberz October2026

Valley Forge Tourism works closely with each client to understand their goals and provides the highest level of support. The rebate incentive further enhances the destination’s value, especially since most of the area offers complimentary parking and room rates that are historically lower than those of city properties. Working with Valley Forge Tourism provides planners with direct access to local insights and timely updates, too. Holiday events often are announced closer to their dates, and the Tourism team is frequently among the first to hear about them. This allows them to quickly share new opportunities with groups visiting the destination and give planners the information they need when it matters most. The holiday and winter season offers many exciting activities for groups to add to their visit. Spring Mountain Adventures is a short drive from most area venues and offers skiing and snowboarding. Additional popular options include: scenic holidaythemed train rides on the Colebrookdale Railroad; Christmas tree-shaped candle making at Cork & Candles in King of Prussia; and Wild Lights at Elmwood Park Zoo, a beloved local tradition. Wild Lights, presented by Danella, transforms the grounds of Elmwood Park Zoo into a winter wonderland filled with millions of lights and festive cheer. Returning this year, from November 20 until December 30, 2026, guests can stroll through a glowing landscape of color and creativity, with lights and decorative attractions. Animal habitats will be

walk, and inside many of our casino resorts. Guests can enjoy everything from festive pop-up bars and live entertainment to immersive holiday experiences and familyfriendly activities.” Many Atlantic City casino resorts and nearby attractions offer festive experiences that can serve as a great addition to a corporate meeting, group gathering, or holiday celebration. At Ocean Casino Resort, for example, the entire property transforms into a holiday wonderland, complete with festive décor, themed rooms like the Grinch Suite and Cindy Lou Suite, the Jingle Bell Bar, and Santa’s Hideaway Adventure – a fun way for groups to add a little holiday magic to their stay. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa also offers a unique seasonal experience with the Moondeck, where guests can enjoy bites and drinks inside decorated igloos on the MGM Tower pool deck. For something a little different, Renault Winery & Resort’s Vinter Wonderland combines ice skating, wine, dining,

fire pits, and local artisan shopping into a fun, festive experience. What’s more, Visit Atlantic City offers a variety of incentives and resources that can help planners add even more value to their meetings and events. “Depending on the group and program, eligible planners may qualify for incentives designed to enhance their overall experience,” notes Molino. “Our sales team works directly with planners to explore available opportunities and find the options that best fit their group’s needs.” “Our team is here to make the planning process as easy as possible,” Molino continues. “Visit Atlantic City offers complimentary planning support, destination expertise, and connections to hotels, venues, and local partners. We also can help planners identify ways to incorporate the best of the season into their agenda, whether that means a holiday group outing, festive dining experience, live entertainment, or another unique offsite activity. For planners looking to add something extra to a winter meeting, our team can help connect the dots and create an experience tailored to their group.” Visiting Atlantic City during the holiday season means being surrounded with plenty of options beyond the meeting room, from major entertainment and immersive holiday experiences to shopping, dining and winter festivals, there are many ways to build a little holiday fun into any visit. All of Southern Delaware’s natural beauty and many outdoors activities like hiking or biking on miles of spectacular trails through coastal forests, farmlands, and coastal marshes remain available and appealing year-round.” For meeting planners seeking indoor activities for clients, nearly all indoor attractions, including great team building venues, museums, theaters, live music venues, art galleries, breweries, wineries, and more remain open and active all year, as do boutique, antique and vintage shops, and outlet stores. “An added bonus? Shopping, dining, entertainment, and meeting space all 32 Septemberz October2026

are tax-free,” Coleman adds. “Finally, renowned Culinary Coast™ restaurants, featuring a host of talented chefs who create delectable dishes with local delicacies from land and sea all year round, ensure visitors will never leave hungry no matter what season they visit.” Many accommodations in Southern Delaware feature seasonal décor and holiday touches as a way to welcome guests, as well. What’s more, Southern Delaware Tourism (SDT) offers a $300 for 30 incentive to groups booking thirty or more Sussex County hotel room nights for a single event. Eligible groups will receive a $300 rebate from SDT upon proof of payment following their event. Holiday magic in Southern Delaware also includes Schellville’s Enchanted Winter Celebration, which delights visitors in Rehoboth Beach. Lewes Lights returns every year offering a map of decorated homes and

businesses. Tree lightings and Christmas parades are held in towns throughout Sussex County, and there are holiday house tours, as well as the Fire & Ice Festival in Bethany Beach in late January. The theme for 2027’s festival is Fun & Games. The long-standing Grand Illumination at Colonial Williamsburg has expanded to three weekends this year, and includes fireworks, theatrical performances, holiday decoration sales, and decorating classes. In addition, Busch Gardens Williamsburg opens its Christmastown during the holiday season with festive shows, food and drink, shopping, and more. Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation runs through January 31, 2027 at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. This major VA250 signature exhibition examines Virginia’s foundational role in the revolution, covering the actions of both iconic founders and ordinary citizens. The centerpiece is a rare 1833 Stone printing of the Declaration of Independence.

A Festive Holiday Getaway in Lancaster, PA Book a trip that feels straight out of a Hallmark movie with a stay at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. From festive traditions right outside the hotel to dazzling light displays and holiday performances, there is no shortage of ways to get into the spirit of the season.

HERE ARE SIX HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES NOT TO BE MISSED WHILE IN LANCASTER.

CATCH A HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE Add some arts and culture to the holiday itinerary with a show at one of Lancaster’s historic theaters. The Fulton Theatre will present Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Lancaster Christmas Show from December 4– 17, while the Prima Theatre’s Illumination, a beloved annual candlelit concert experience, runs November 20 through December 23. Either makes for a festive night out after a day of exploring the city.

MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING A great way to start a holiday getaway is with one of Lancaster’s most beloved traditions. Taking place Friday, November 27 in Penn Square and just outside the Lancaster Marriott’s lobby, the annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting officially ushers in the holiday season with plenty of festive cheer.

SHOP ALONG QUEEN STREET Set aside an afternoon to wander Queen Street, where Lancaster’s independent shops, boutiques, and galleries offer plenty of opportunities to find something special. From one-of-a-kind gifts to locally made treasures, it is the perfect place to check a few names off the holiday shopping list while soaking up the charm of downtown Lancaster.

SANTA IN THE LOBBY No holiday morning is complete without a visit from Santa. On Saturday, December 12 at 8:00 am, Santa will make a special trip from the North Pole to the lobby of the Lancaster Marriott, where guests can snap photos while enjoying pastries, coffee, and hot cocoa. A live string quintet will provide the soundtrack for the festivities.

VISIT DUTCH (WINTER) WONDERLAND For a dose of family-friendly holiday magic, head to Dutch Wonderland as the park transforms into Dutch Winter Wonderland. Running November 14 through January 3, 2027, this seasonal celebration features festive activities, holiday entertainment, and all-new experiences that bring the spirit of the season to life.

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT LIGHT SHOW Take in the magic of the Christmas Spirit Light Show at Penn Medicine Park. The mile-long drive-through experience features dazzling holiday light displays that guests can enjoy entirely from the comfort of their vehicle, making it an easy and memorable addition to a winter evening.

“Many hotels will offer discounts and value-added programming during the winter months, particularly weekdays from November through March,” observes Greg Kavanagh, vice president, business development, Visit Williamsburg. “Visit Williamsburg offers financial incentives and inclusions during the winter and year-round, as well. Our services include welcome amenities, name badges, off-site coordination for transportation and tours.” In addition to programs offered by Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, there are several other programs scheduled during this time that will be updated as more information is available online (visitwilliamsburg.com). If asked, most people would say the best time to visit Philadelphia Zoo is in the spring, but an event planner in the know would explain that the “real action” happens once the autumn leaves have fallen. Between a light show that has grown into one of the region’s sig-

nature holiday draws and a private events program built around some genuinely unusual venue space - try cocktail hour next to the great apes - the Zoo has quietly become a winter-season fixture on the Mid-Atlantic events circuit. Timing matters this year, too, as this is the last season that the 110-foot Pherris Wheel will be part of the display, so anyone who has been meaning to book this experience has a true deadline. The reality is, cold weather tends to bring out more natural activity in the Zoo’s collection of wildlife. Snow leopards, red pandas, and big cats in particular, tend to be livelier once temperatures drop, so guests often get a better wildlife-viewing experience than they would at the height of summer. Add in thinner daytime crowds and heated indoor habitats to duck into, and the Zoo makes a case as a cold-weather destination rather than a seasonal afterthought.

Mid-AtlanticEvEntSMagazine 35

But when the sun goes down, the property becomes something else entirely from late November through the first days of January. During this time, the Zoo runs LumiNature, presented by PNC, a nighttime lightshow that turns the Zoo into one of the city’s marquee holiday attractions - an impressive after-dark experience for evening events and holiday entertaining. LumiNature has grown considerably beyond string lights on trees, though the most recent run spread more than a million lights across roughly a dozen themed zones. What sets it apart from a typical drive-through or walk-through light display is how much of it is genuinely one-of-a-kind. A 40-foot animated penguin performs a light

sequence timed to holiday music that visitors simply will not see reproduced anywhere else. The 25foot tree built entirely from illuminated flamingo lawn ornaments is the kind of thing people plan photo stops around. Flutter Flair, a tree wrapped floor to canopy in butterfly light sculptures, plays a similar role. A community feature called “Our Neck of the Woods” showcases trees decorated by West Philadelphia community groups on display for public voting. This is a genuine piece of neighborhood participation that gives the show some local texture beyond the spectacle. On the hospitality side, an indoor lounge called The Lodge gives guests a place to warm up, browse

gift shop offerings, and roast s'mores at outdoor fire pits, while a newer riverside pop-up, Jambi’s Solstice Saloon, serves seasonal cocktails and mocktails. Small groups also can rent private heated igloos for the evening, a category the Zoo expanded for the most recent season and one of the more distinctive add-ons on offer essentially a private cabana experience inside a holiday light show. The Zoo's full venue roster remains in play year-round, including outdoor spaces like the McNeil Avian Center and Big Cat Falls, so winter does not mean a reduced menu of options. Instead, it means the same distinctive venues with a colder, quieter, more atmospheric backdrop. Anchor spaces include the PECO Primate Reserve, which comfortably handles a good-sized reception or seated dinner, and the Rare Animal Conservation Center paired with Impala Plaza, similarly scaled. Both put guests directly in the animals’ orbit. Cocktail hour with the great apes a few feet away is very much the point. KidZooU offers a smaller footprint that works well for familyoriented gatherings, and Big Cat Falls and the McNeil Avian Center round out the options for groups wanting something outdoors or aviary-adjacent, even in the offseason. Booking multiple spaces together is an option for larger events. All catering runs through the Zoo's in-house exclusive caterer, and any outside entertainment or vendors

But when the sun goes down, the Philadelphia Zoo becomes something else entirely from late November through the first days of January. need advance sign-off. During LumiNature itself, the Zoo also offers a scaled-down holiday party format staged right beneath the light displays, as well as full LumiNature buyouts for larger corporate or private holiday functions since guests get the run of an animal park lit up for the season rather than a rented hall. Planners looking to go further can pair an event with the Zoo’s premium tour offerings like Wake Up With Wildlife, an earlyaccess walkthrough before public hours, or a fully custom VIP tour with staff-guided animal encounters. Most rentals carry a minimum guest count, which puts the venue in midto-large size event territory rather than intimate gatherings. There truly is a lot to see and do during the colder months throughout the region, from light displays to getaways to festivals and holiday adventures. Each of these destinations offers visitors fantastic opportunities to celebrate the arrival of winter and the holiday season.

NOS FOR GS & MORE Casino properties throughout the region present planners with outstanding options for meetings and events with a multitude of versatile offerings within their all-in-one destination venues. Boasting ample meeting space, fine dining choices, showstopping entertainment options, relaxing spas, team building opportunities, casino gaming, swimming pools, shopping and more. When choosing casino properties for meetings, planners will find no shortage of amenities, activities, and experiences.

LIVE! CASINO & HOTEL PHILADELPHIA PHILADELPHIA, PA “Live! Philadelphia gives groups the convenience of a true all-in-one destination,” notes Kelley Maddox, vice president of sales at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. “Our 208-room luxury hotel, including more than 30 suites, allows attendees to stay steps away from their meetings, meals, and entertainment.” Planners can organize a full day or multi-day affair featuring breakout sessions, large-scale events, and board meetings in the property’s 15,500-square foot Live! Event Center. Guests also can enjoy elevated, award-winning dining and luxury overnight accommodations without ever needing to leave. “The Live! Event Center is our flagship event venue, anchored by the Market Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 1,000 guests and features a dedicated stage for presentations, keynote speakers, and live performances,” says Madox. “The space also is customizable for everything from large conferences and awards programs to receptions and formal banquets.” Mid-AtlanticEvEntSMagazine 39

The Liberty, Broad, and Rittenhouse junior ballrooms offer planners additional options when it comes to event space that can be transformed easily. Newly installed airwalls allow the rooms to host separate events simultaneously or be combined into a larger footprint based on group size and setup. Because the airwalls can be opened or closed within minutes, the space effortlessly transitions for breakout sessions, group programming, meals, or receptions as the day unfolds. “Our location in Philadelphia’s Stadium District adds another exciting layer,” Maddox asserts. “Groups are within walking distance of the city’s major sports and entertainment venues while enjoying the convenience, energy, and amenities of a full-service destination as a home base. Live! Philadelphia also is extremely convenient to get to from both Philadelphia Airport and Amtrak’s 30th Street Station, and it is right off I-95 and I-76, offering attendees unparalleled ease and access without having to battle Center City congestion.” Taking a highly collaborative and hands-on approach, the dedicated Live! event team works closely with planners, helping them to connect the many moving parts of the experience, including room layouts, event flow, food and beverage, and on-site logistics. Live! Philadelphia’s banquet and culinary teams can create tailored menus for nearly any format and personalize menus around dietary requirements, event themes, and the City’s distinctive culinary culture. In addition, award-winning restaurants on-site include Luk Fu by Jet Tila and The Prime Rib, both of which offer private and semi-private options for distinctive group dining experiences. Sports & Social is ideal for casual dining and watching major sporting events, and 10th Street Market showcases a collection of Philadelphia favorites. “Ultimately, our role is to make the process feel seamless,” says Maddox. “We want planners to remain focused on their attendees while our team handles the details behind the scenes,” adding, “Our events team can help incorporate casino experiences, private gaming tutorials, live performances, and customized dining into an itinerary, giving attendees plenty of reasons to stay engaged after their meetings wrap up.” 40 Septemberz October2026

The team also can arrange a “dine-around the casino” experience, where guests rotate through several restaurants for curated bites and cocktails - a great way to encourage networking while introducing attendees to all the flavors available throughout the property. Planners can build an itinerary around Philly sports, a concert, or another Philadelphia attraction, too, then bring the group back to Live! for dinner, drinks, and late-night entertainment. “Our event planning team members are happy to help coordinate with our partners at the stadiums,” Maddox assures. For a relaxed gathering, Library Bar in the hotel lobby offers craft cocktails and an elevated, yet effortless setting, or groups can enjoy live entertainment at Center Bar or explore the casino floor. “That range is what makes the property so valuable for planners,” observes Maddox. “Attendees can meet, dine, stay, and enjoy Philadelphia entertainment in one connected destination while planners benefit from having a single team helping coordinate the entire experience.”

This combination of extensive meeting space and builtin experiences allows planners to create events that feel more engaging and memorable while encouraging stronger relationships, collaboration, and connection throughout their stay. “At Kalahari, you don’t have to pick and choose between the experiences you want to offer attendees,” assures Bann. “There is no need to coordinate transportation to an off-site restaurant, find a nearby spa for a wellness experience, or send attendees elsewhere 52 Septemberz October2026

for coffee before a full day of sessions. It is all right here.” Being an all-under-one-roof destination provides attendees with more time to focus on why they came learning, connecting and building relationships. Bann says that might look like a smaller, curated dinner at Sortino’s Italian Kitchen, a team building challenge in one of the property’s escape rooms, or a massage at their full-service Spa Kalahari after a busy day of sessions. “When you host a meeting or event at Kalahari, those experiences become a natural extension of the event itself,” says Bann. “Attendees have more opportunities to connect, recharge, and enjoy their time together - all without adding complicated logistics to the planner’s plate.” “People attend meetings and events to learn, create, and connect professionally, but we know some of the best conversations happen outside the meeting room,” Bann continues. “It could be a little friendly competition

at Black Light Mini Golf, a group hike through the surrounding Pocono Mountains to reset after a morning of sessions, or simply catching up over coffee at Java Manjaro with someone you met the day before.” The Kalahari sales team helps planners intentionally build such moments into their experience, from coordinating group activities and custom menu planning for catered events to creating time for attendees to explore the property on their own, the Kalahari team works alongside planners to create an agenda that feels unique to their group. “Ultimately,” explains Bann, “it is about creating more opportunities for attendees to engage with one another without every interaction feeling like scheduled networking. Those more relaxed moments can lead to stronger relationships and conversations that continue long after the event ends.” “Today’s meetings and conventions are about more than what happens on stage or inside a breakout room,” Bann continues. “Changing the environment throughout an event can help attendees stay energized, engaged, and connected while bringing a fresh perspective to the overall experience.” In addition, Kalahari’s setting in the Pocono Mountains gives planners the opportunity to make the outdoors part of the agenda. Groups can step outside onto the resort’s scenic River Patio and Veranda for a reception, meal, or networking

event, enjoy the fresh air between sessions, or simply use a change of scenery to recharge before returning to the meeting. “At Kalahari, planners have the flexibility to move between indoor and outdoor spaces in ways that complement their agenda,” notes Bann. “That variety helps break up a full day of sessions, creates more relaxed and natural opportunities for conversation, and gives attendees a more dynamic and memorable experience than spending the entire event within the same four walls.” The Wildwoods appeal to a wide variety of travelers seeking family-friendly and memorable experiences. One way the Wildwoods continue to earn national acclaim for its attractions is through its commitment to its history, a nostalgic side of the town that has made it a standout shore destination. The resort’s mid-century architectural preservation remains an integral part of the town’s character, and its nostalgia and charm have fascinated visitors for decades. In fact, the Wildwoods offer the largest collection of mid-20th century architecture in the nation. The Doo Wop Preservation League, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose educational mission is to foster awareness and appreciation of the popular culture and imagery of the 1950s and ‘60s, has sought to maintain the town’s historic charm since 1997. Toward that end, the League operates the Doo Wop Experience Museum and the Doo Wop Neon Night Trolley Tours, two popular attractions in the Wildwoods that invite guests to step back in time and truly immerse themselves in the resort’s one-of-a-kind mid-century era vibe. The Doo Wop Experience Museum is free (though donations are accepted) and offers a fun and interactive experience, while tickets for the Doo Wop Neon Night Trolley Tours are available for purchase online (doowopusa.org). The museum recently was recognized as one of the Best Pop Culture Museums in the Country for the fourth consecutive year in USA Today’s 2026 10Best Pop Culture Museum Readers’ Choice Travel Awards. 54 Septemberz October2026

The Wildwoods history is strongly linked to the midcentury era of American pop culture and much of the town’s original history has been preserved within the walls of the Doo Wop Experience Museum. Pulsating neon signs and authentic mid-century artifacts are all housed in the museum, inviting visitors to step into the past. In addition, the museum offers Back to the ‘50s Neon Night and Mid-Century Architecture Tours during the summer months, giving guests a guided tour of the impressive display of mid-century architecture on the island today, including plastic palm trees, jutted rooftop angles, uniquely shaped pools, wrought iron balconies, and whimsical names and themes coupled with bright neon signs. These motels are reminiscent of a time when the midcentury architecture, décor, design, and color of the 1950s and ‘60s were in full swing. Often called “Googie,” “Poplux,” or “Doo Wop,” this style of architecture has deep roots in the Wildwoods and recent business arrivals are embracing it, preserving the unique history while incorporating modern design and charm in new construction plans. Charming, lesser-known spots in the Wildwoods have impressed visitors for years, and the retro, small town vibes of the town are carried out throughout the community culture, architecture, and attractions. Experiencing the small-town vibes and friendly locals in the Wildwoods is one way to enjoy an Americana-inspired, nostalgia-soaked vacation, and the local embrace of the Wildwoods’ history is a part of that. Last year, North Wildwood was named in Priceline’s 2025 “Where to Travel Next” Travel Trends report as an ideal destination to enjoy a retro trip to classic smalltown Americana. The report describes a rising trend among Gen Z travelers dubbed Townsizing, where they seek out small towns like North Wildwood to indulge in charming, quaint moments depicted in their most comforting movies. Another area attraction, the historic and award-winning Wildwoods boardwalk has been named the #1 Best Boardwalk in the country for two consecutive years,

while the Wildwoods’ free beaches have been named the #1 Best Beach in NJ for three consecutive years in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards, respectively. Both have been known for helping to make lifelong memories in the Wildwoods for generations. One thing that makes Ocean City, MD different for meetings and events is how easily the destination becomes part of the program. The Roland E. Powell Convention Center provides the space and flexibility for larger conferences, conventions and events, while Ocean City’s conference hotels offer another layer of options with meeting and event spaces that take advantage of their oceanfront and waterfront settings. “Our hotels allow planners to bring the setting into the meeting experience itself,” explains Kim Mueller, director of sales, Town of Ocean City, MD. “Ocean and bay views can become the backdrop for receptions, meals and networking events, while direct access to the beach and waterfront creates opportunities to move naturally from the structured part of the day into something more relaxed.” That same ease extends throughout the destination. A morning beach walk or yoga session, golf outing, fishing charter, dine-around, or evening on the boardwalk all can become extensions of the program rather than separate activities that require complicated logistics. “Planners are looking for ways to create experiences that attendees will remember, and Ocean City gives them the opportunity to do that naturally,” says Mueller. 58 Septemberz October2026

“Sometimes it is as simple as walking out of an evening reception and onto the beach for a bonfire. Those are the moments that change the feel of a meeting and give people a chance to genuinely connect.” Just a few miles from Ocean City, Assateague Island gives planners an opportunity to incorporate an experience attendees may not expect as part of a conference or meeting. Known for its wild horses and undeveloped coastline, it offers a completely different setting from the traditional meeting environment, while still being easily accessible from Ocean City. Assateague can be incorporated into spouse and guest programs, pre- or post-conference activities, smaller group excursions, or outdoor team experiences. Depending on the group and season, options can include guided eco-tours, kayaking, wildlife photography, hiking, and sightseeing. Groups also can experience Assateague and the surrounding waterways through local charter and excursion operators. Private sightseeing cruises, fishing trips, sunset cruises, wildlife tours, and customized excursions can be tailored to different group sizes and interests. “For planners, such experiences offer something increasingly valuable - an opportunity to give attendees time away from the traditional agenda to experience the destination and one another differently,” Mueller explains. “It can be a few hours on the water, an afternoon exploring Assateague, or simply the chance to slow the pace of a busy conference.”

Some of the most valuable conversations at a conference happen after the agenda ends. Ocean City gives planners ways to create those opportunities intentionally without making them feel forced. “A sunrise beach walk or yoga session can start the day differently. Mini golf can become a friendly team competition. A sunset cruise creates an entirely different setting for networking, while kayaking, golf, fishing, or even an Orange Crush mixology experience - celebrating the cocktail that originated in Ocean City - can bring attendees together around something fun and unexpected,” Mueller adds. “Not every networking opportunity has to happen at a reception with a name badge,” Mueller continues. “When people are doing something together, conversation happens differently. Shared experiences can break down barriers and help attendees build relationships that carry back into the meeting.” For planners, that means activities can serve a purpose beyond entertainment. They can encourage interaction between departments, generations, or attendees who may not otherwise meet, creating connections that strengthen the overall value of the event.

set on agricultural land, an afternoon or evening can become a casual outdoor gathering with open space, live music, and cornhole. At Seacrets®, Jamaica USA, the atmosphere, waterfront setting, and live entertainment can shift the mood entirely, creating a fun, lighthearted environment where attendees can relax and leave some of the pressures of the meeting day behind.” “Ocean City gives planners the ability to think beyond four walls,” Mueller explains. “We have the traditional meeting space to accomplish the business of the day, but we also have these incredible environments just minutes away that can completely change the energy of a program.” This combination of professional meeting space, conference hotels, indoor and outdoor venues, and authentic destination experiences offers planners the flexibility to create a program that feels distinctly Ocean City. Each of these varied experiences, activities, and offerings provides groups with an opportunity to become fully engaged through excursions that inspire and entertain. In addition, these destinations feature unique settings that are replete with enjoyable activities as well as memorable moments.

Changing the environment can completely change the energy of an event, and Ocean City gives planners the ability to move between traditional meeting spaces and unexpected settings without leaving the destination. For example, a general session or education program at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center or one of Ocean City’s conference hotels can transition into a waterfront reception, beach gathering, private dining experience, or sunset cruise. “Ocean City also offers venues that feel completely removed from a traditional meeting environment,” observes Mueller. “At Sinepuxent Brewing Company, a farm brewery Mid-AtlanticEvEntSMagazine 59

What Philadelphia Taught Me About Luxury Hospitality Where timeless standards meet modern expectations. The hospitality industry has never stood still. Guest expectations shift, dining habits evolve and the definition of luxury continues to be refined. For today's hospitality leaders, success isn't defined by choosing between tradition and innovation. It's found in balancing both. Luxury hospitality isn't defined by a single moment or trend. It's built over time by balancing timeless standards with the evolving expectations of every guest.

For Will Hammond, that balance has defined his career. Will began his career with Steak 48 in Philadelphia before leading the brand's Beverly Hills restaurant. Today, he's back in his hometown, leading the Philadelphia restaurant with a perspective shaped by both experiences. In the following conversation, Will reflects on the lessons that have shaped his approach to leadership, hospitality and creating experiences that feel both timeless and personal. Q: Your career with Steak 48 has taken you from Philadelphia to Beverly Hills and back again. What did Philadelphia teach you about hospitality that has stayed with you throughout that journey? If Philadelphia taught me one thing, it's that trust has to be earned every single night. It's one of the best restaurant cities in the country. Guests here know great restaurants, and they have no shortage of them to choose from. They appreciate quality, but they also appreciate authenticity. You can't rely on reputation for very long because people expect you to earn their next visit every time they walk through the door. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my career. Beverly Hills reinforced the importance of precision and consistency, but Philadelphia reminded me why those things matter in the first place. Hospitality is ultimately about relationships. It's about understanding why someone chose to spend their evening with you and making sure that trust is rewarded. Coming back to Philadelphia felt like coming full circle. It brought me back to the values that first shaped the way I lead. Q: The hospitality industry is constantly evolving. How do you embrace changing guest expectations without compromising the standards people expect from a restaurant like Steak 48? I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that adapting means abandoning the things that made you successful in the first place. I've never believed that. When someone chooses Steak 48, they're expecting an incredible steak, exceptional wine, polished service and an experience that feels special. Those expectations haven't gone away. If anything, they've become even higher because people have more choices than ever before.

What's changed is how people want to experience that level of hospitality. Years ago, luxury was often expressed through formality. Today, guests still appreciate precision and professionalism, but they also want authenticity. They want an experience that feels personal without sacrificing excellence. I think that's one of the things Steak 48 has always done exceptionally well. We're meticulous about every detail because that's what our guests expect, but we've never believed luxury should feel rigid or rehearsed. The goal isn't simply to deliver flawless service. It's to create an experience that reflects why someone came to us in the first place, whether they're celebrating a milestone, entertaining a client or simply enjoying a great dinner.

Q: What does that philosophy look like in practice? From a guest's perspective, dinner begins when they walk through our doors. For our team, it begins hours earlier. Long before the first reservation arrives, managers and service staff are talking through the evening. We know who's joining us for the first time, who's celebrating something special, who's hosting clients and who's coming back for a favorite table. Those conversations allow us to anticipate rather than react. Guests should notice the quality of the food, the service and the overall experience. They shouldn't have to think about everything happening behind the scenes to make the evening feel seamless. To me, that's the mark of great hospitality. When the experience feels effortless, people are free to focus on what brought them there in the first place. Q: How does that come to life at Steak 48? One thing I've learned over the years is that consistency and personalization aren't competing ideas. They're completely dependent on one another. The consistency is the promise. Every guest who joins us should know they're going to receive the same level of quality, professionalism and attention to detail that defines the Steak 48 experience. Personalization is how that promise comes to life.

A couple celebrating an anniversary shouldn't have the same evening as someone hosting a board dinner, and neither experience should feel like friends meeting after work. Our job is to understand why people are with us and shape the experience around that moment while delivering the same level of excellence every single time. That's where hospitality becomes memorable. Not because it's extravagant, but because it feels intentional.

Q: What's the biggest misconception people have about luxury hospitality? One of the biggest misconceptions about luxury hospitality is that it's synonymous with formality. To me, those are two very different things. Luxury isn't about doing more. It's about getting the details right, so guests never have to think about them. That's what allows people to relax. They trust that every part of the evening has been thoughtfully considered, which means they can focus on the people they're with instead of everything happening around them. When that happens, the restaurant almost fades into the background. You're no longer thinking about service, timing or logistics. You're simply enjoying the experience. To me, that's what great hospitality looks like. Q: After all these years in hospitality, what belief still guides you every day? I've spent a lot of years thinking about what stays with someone after a great dinner. It's rarely one particular dish or one interaction with a server. People remember how an evening made them feel. The food, the wine and the service all matter tremendously. They're the foundation of everything we do. But they're ultimately there to support something much bigger: creating an experience that allows people to be fully present with the people they're with.

THE BEST HOSPITALITY IS OFTEN THE PART GUESTS NEVER NOTICE. THEY SIMPLY REMEMBER A WONDERFUL EVENING. THAT'S STILL WHAT EXCITES ME MOST ABOUT THIS BUSINESS, AND IT'S WHY ONE BELIEF HAS STAYED WITH ME THROUGHOUT MY CAREER:

OUR STANDARDS NEVER CHANGE. HOW WE DELIVER THEM SHOULD. Steak 48 260 S Broad St Philadelphia, PA 19102 (215) 552-4848 steak48.com

What excites me most about fall is the opportunity to shift into more hearty, deeply flavored cooking while still letting the ingredients remain the focus. I’m especially looking forward to working with the incredible variety of winter squash and gourds, root vegetables, mushrooms, cabbages, and the final harvests coming out of the Kitchen Garden. I’m drawn to warming flavor profiles—roasting, braising, smoking, and cooking over fire—and finding ways to bring those techniques into dishes that still feel refined and appropriate for our private events. I also enjoy taking familiar comfort foods and giving them a more contemporary expression, whether through global flavors, fermentation, or more thoughtful vegetable-forward preparations.” “The continued emphasis on local sourcing, global interpretations of comfort food, fermentation and preservation, and creating depth through umami and fire are trends that I think translate particularly well to Longwood. I’m also excited about utilizing more of the Kitchen Garden harvest through preservation—pickling, fermenting, curing, and incorporating vegetable trim and excess harvest into sauces, condiments, and garnishes. It’s a great way to extend the season while creating additional layers of flavor and telling the story of what is being grown here.” “Overall, I’m looking forward to a season that feels warm, generous, and comforting, but still distinctly Longwood— seasonal ingredients, thoughtful technique, and dishes that allow the garden and the region to tell the story.” ANNIE CAULFIELD CATERING SALES MANAGER RESTAURANT ASSOCIATES AT LONGWOOD GARDENS LONGWOODGARDENS.ORG

As we approach Oktoberfest, our fall menu will include Bratwurst, Braised Cabbage & Spicy Mustard on a Potato Roll.

This fall, we are eager to introduce exotic flavor combinations such as our Vanilla Chai Martini that uses Hidden Still Vanilla Vodka from Pennsylvania, along with Irish Cream Liqueur and Chai Extract.

With an awareness of health and environmental impact, we are proud to feature several plant-based selections that are delicious and beautifully presented. How a venue responds to those with dietary restrictions is a great indicator of the quality of food and service all guests will receive. We are featuring a Korean BBQ Tofu Sandwich with Dill Pickles, Kimchi Aïoli, and Sweet & Sour Slaw on a Ciabatta Roll. With the cooler temperatures in fall, we are excited for soup season! Our menu will have selections for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Exotic Mushroom Flatbread will stay on the menu with the addition of local, seasonal Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion, Pesto, Roasted Garlic & Whipped Ricotta, and Fontina Cheese.

Our mixologists are creating modern, seasonal, and regional twists on classic cocktails. One riff on a classic is our Creamery Mule that includes Vodka, Ginger Beer, and Lime, with the star of the drink being our housemade Cranberry Syrup. We are having fun experimenting with carbonated cocktails like the Cider Spritz, which has Apple Cider, Aperol, and Prosecco. This beautiful, tasty drink will extend well into the winter holidays up to Valentine’s Day. Our beverage team is making mocktails with the same creativity and intentionality as boozy cocktails. Non-drinkers love the Pear Spritz, which features Pear Nectar, Honey, Lemon, Fresh Sage, and Club Soda. ELIZABETH KNOX DIRECTOR, CATERING SQUARE ROOTS COLLECTIVE

WHAT DO YOU FEEL WILL BE YOUR TOP (4) ITEMS SERVED AT EVENTS THIS COMING FALL/WINTER SEASON? This Fall and Winter, we expect several longtime guest favorites to continue standing out across events at the Blair County Convention Center. Our Blair County Ice Cream Bar remains one of our most memorable dessert experiences, bringing a distinctly local touch to the table with favorites from Blair County businesses, including ice cream from The Meadows and classic Boyer Candies toppings. On the entrée side, our Pan-Seared European-Style Chicken Breast offers a rich and elegant option, prepared with mushrooms, shallots, and julienned ham, then finished with Monterey Jack cheese and a flavorful sherried cream sauce. Our Carved Beef Tenderloin is another standout, featuring beautifully roasted, tender beef sliced to order for guests and served as an impressive centerpiece for any event. The carving presentation adds an elevated, interactive element while allowing each portion to be served fresh, flavorful, and perfectly suited for a memorable fall or winter gathering. Rounding out the group is our Blackened Salmon, featuring a fresh salmon filet dusted with Cajun seasoning and topped with a bright, tangy fruit salsa. Together, these selections offer a mix of comforting seasonal flavors, elevated presentation, and the kind of memorable dishes guests continue to request event after event.

WHAT ARE (4) NEW CULINARY, BEVERAGE, OR DESSERT ADDITIONS YOU WILL BE ADDING TO YOUR FALL/WINTER MENU? Our Fall and Winter menu will also introduce several new dishes designed around the warm, rich flavors that naturally fit the season. For dessert, an Apple Cranberry Crisp will combine tender baked apples with tart cranberries and a comforting crisp topping, creating a familiar seasonal favorite with just enough brightness to keep every bite balanced. We are also adding a new Pork Chop, featuring a tender, savory chop complemented by warm, seasoned apples for a balance of rich flavor and subtle seasonal sweetness. It is a hearty, approachable entrée that feels especially at home on a fall or winter menu. Another new dessert, our Sweet Potato Cheesecake, takes the richness of a traditional cheesecake and pairs it with the warm, subtly sweet flavor of sweet potato for a seasonal finish that feels both familiar and distinctive. Finally, our Braised Short Rib with Whipped Sweet Potato will bring an especially comforting addition to the menu, featuring tender, slow-braised beef paired with smooth whipped sweet potato for a dish that is rich, satisfying, and made for the colder months. These additions allow us to embrace the season while continuing to offer guests thoughtful, elevated options that feel right at home at everything from corporate dinners to large celebrations. WHAT ADVANTAGES DID HOSTING YOUR CONVENTION IN THE VALLEY FORGE/KING OF PRUSSIA AREA PROVIDE COMPARED WITH HOLDING YOUR EVENT IN A MAJOR CITY?

Hosting our Conference in the Valley Forge/King of Prussia area provides many of the advantages of a major metropolitan destination without some of the challenges associated with a large city. The area offers convenient highway access, ample parking, flexible and well-equipped meeting space, and an accessible, comfortable environment for attendees. At the same time, our members and guests have easy access to exceptional shopping and dining, historic attractions, and the greater Philadelphia region.

The Valley Forge/King of Prussia area offers an ideal balance of convenience, accessibility, and things to do without the challenges that can come with hosting an event in a major city. One of the biggest highlights is the King of Prussia Mall, with an incredible variety of shopping and dining options just a short drive away. There are also beautiful parks and other attractions nearby, giving attendees plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy the area outside of the event.

For those traveling from out of town, the location is also extremely convenient and easy to access. Overall, the Valley Forge/King of Prussia area gives us many of the benefits of a major destination while providing a more relaxed and accessible experience for our attendees. HOW DID THE VARIETY AND FLEXIBILITY OF MEETING SPACES AT VALLEY FORGE CASINO RESORT SUPPORT YOUR CONVENTION’S PROGRAMMING, FLOW, AND OVERALL ATTENDEE EXPERIENCE? For us as a dance group, the size and flexibility of an event space can have a significant impact on how an event flows and, ultimately, the experience we’re able to provide for our clients. Valley Forge Casino Resort has consistently stood out because of the flexibility of its large event center, along with the additional ballrooms located just a short walk away. Having access to multiple spaces allows us to accommodate larger events/more people and adjust our setup as needed without compromising the client experience. That flexibility—and the ability to have additional space available when we need it—has been an incredible asset to us over the years and is something we truly value about hosting events at Valley Forge. PHL SPORTS SCORES A GOAL IN LEADING PHILADELPHIA’S FIFA WORLD CUP 26™ CELEBRATIONS Croatian football fans marched carrying a national flag longer than a football field when they came upon a bride and groom near Philadelphia City Hall. Soon, the newlyweds were chanting alongside the Croatian faithful in a viral moment that defined the FIFA World Cup 26™ in the city. Behind that memorable moment - and so many more from the Semiquincentennial summer of 2026 - was Brea Webster Stanko, deputy tournament officer for Philadelphia Soccer 2026 and deputy executive director of PHL Sports, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. The operational logistics were years in the making. The city’s sports tourism industry brought the world together, hosting almost 410,000 fans for six FIFA World Cup 26™ matches and more than 500,000 fans at the 39-day FIFA Fan Festival™ in Fairmount Park. Webster Stanko credits cooperation between stakeholders across Philadelphia for the historic sports wins. “It is a huge undertaking ... as cliché as it sounds, it is teamwork. It is everybody rowing the same direction - city partners, private, public sectors. Everyone utilizing their assets to make this the best event ever.” Webster Stanko and the PHL Sports team were involved from the beginning, starting with the initial bid in 2017, then procuring signage and branding materials years in advance, all while transforming the sports complex to fit the needs of the tournament. While juggling complex logistics, she also oversaw an effort focused on more than just the pitch. For example, the transformation of the iconic steps in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where the Philadelphia host city logo was displayed in celebration of the city’s role welcoming FIFA World Cup 26™ fans from across the globe. It quickly became a gathering spot, with the notable Rocky statue serving as a rallying figure for fans.

“Branding the steps was definitely our goal - years in the making,” she notes. “You could see the line every day with fans getting their photo with Rocky above the World Cup installation. That’s such an international location here in Philadelphia.”

Philadelphia’s assets as a destination were on full display while hosting one of the world’s largest sporting events, from transportation and infrastructure supporting thousands of fans to a central Stadium District home to world-class venues.

Webster Stanko led the decor strategy featuring signage, banners, and branding assets, making sure the city was visually welcoming while coordinating with city officials, public transit, and public safety agencies to ensure visiting fans could march, party, and cheer safely.

“The fan journey means so much for the event - the ease of it, activating different city locations; because they want to expand the event footprint outside of the stadium complex,” Webster Stanko explains. “It was amazing to see the city come alive. Fans everywhere, in their awesome jerseys, just exploring - the fandom that comes with these major events was really special to see.”

Consistently named one of the most walkable cities in the nation, Philadelphia’s compact footprint and robust public transit system provided easy access to the stadium and some of the city’s most notable attractions, further enhancing the visitor experience.
