The Mid-Atlantic Region offers excellent spaces and places with offerings that appeal to a wide range of audiences. From mountain vistas to rural resorts to beachfront properties and suburban locales, these venues and locations provide an array of memorable and meaningful experiences. Each of the following places and venues represents just a sampling of what is available for groups to see, do, explore, and enjoy throughout the region.
SOUTHERN DELAWARE
Southern Delaware offers a wide variety of accommodations and meeting spaces, from small, intimate venues to spaces accommodating up to 500 attendees, all with amenities that make meeting planners’ jobs easy.
With its scenic beauty, trails, beaches, bays, and waterways, activities, recreation, and entertainment options, time spent outside the meeting room can be tailored to meet the needs of the group whether they prefer action packed or relaxed leisure time, or a hybrid of both.
Southern Delaware’s famed Culinary Coast™ offers outstanding dining options from boardwalk treats to white linen dining with renowned chefs. The area also offers ample possibilities for team building, from wellness options to cruises to tours to golf to axe throwing to paddling excursions to events or live music, taxfree shopping, and more.
“Excellent food and drink are crucial to the success of a group outing,” adds Tina Coleman, communications manager, Southern Delaware Tourism. “Fortunately, Southern Delaware offers the best dining in the Mid-Atlantic thanks to our many creative, award-winning restaurateurs and chefs. Additionally, with the sea at

our front door and local farms at our back door, diners are guaranteed to enjoy the freshest seafood and produce, crafted into delicacies by our talented culinary community.”
For activities and entertainment, visitors can explore Southern Delaware’s inland bays and bay islands, tidal marshes, and rivers on paddling excursions, hikes, or cycling trips on scenic trails. Surf fishing is a favorite activity, as are tiki tours, pontoon boat eco tours, and sunset cruises.
State Parks offer lantern tours at Fort Miles Museum and Historical Area, a WWII fort built largely beneath the dunes in Cape Henlopen State Park, and at the historic Indian River Life Saving Station in Delaware Seashore State Park. Historic Lewes offers a variety of walking tours of downtown Lewes, which was settled by the Dutch in 1631.
Visit Southern Delaware’s many small shops, galleries, art leagues, and studios, as the area’s natural beauty has attracted talented artists, artisans, and crafters for decades. Alternatively, check out local wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Towns here also boast large and small theaters and performance venues, offering diverse programming like concerts and theatrical performances by national, regional, and local artists at both indoor and outdoor venues.
Southern Delaware Tourism maintains strong relationships with their tourism partners and works closely with them to accommodate the wishes and needs of visiting groups. They can offer suggestions and facilitate introductions and coordinate planning between meeting professionals and potential partners, as well. The tourism community works hand-in-hand to ensure an exceptional experience for planners and attendees.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA
For group tour operators, Delaware County - or Delco, as the locals call it - hits a sweet spot between convenience and experience. Easy to reach, this suburban Philadelphia community is home to outstanding attractions like Linvilla Orchards, Tyler Arboretum, and
Newlin Grist Mill. These places are not only enjoyable stops, but also are well set up for accommodating buses, with parking and group-friendly programming.
Steve Byrne, executive director, Visit Delco, PA, explains that - because restaurants and hotels in the area work with groups so often - coordinating meals and booking overnight stays for them tends to be smooth and easy. Delco also works perfectly as a home base, he adds, where planners easily can build in visits to nearby favorites like Longwood Gardens, Valley Forge National Historical Park, and Brandywine River Museum of Art without having to pack up and move the group every day.
Delaware County helps to keep logistics simple while still giving travelers plenty to see and enjoy. “That’s where Visit Delco, PA really adds value,” Byrne assures, “we act as a hands-on partner in turning ideas into a smooth, bookable group experience. For motorcoach operators, we can help build and refine itineraries, suggesting the right mix of stops… based on your audience, timing, and trip goals.”
Visit Delco, PA also serves as a central connection point, coordinating with hotels, restaurants, and attractions to simplify group bookings, confirm bus accommodations, and align schedules, saving planners time and back-and-forth. Beyond logistics, Visit Delco can provide marketing support and local insight, from promotional materials to insider tips that help make each itinerary feel more customized and memorable.
“In short, we help take the guesswork out of planning, making it easier to deliver a well-organized, enjoyable experience for groups while keeping operations efficient,” Byrne declares.
When it comes to food, drink, and activities in Delaware County, groups can enjoy a nice balance of easy dining options and experiences that are simple to plan, yet still engaging.
“On the food side, there’s plenty of flexibility, from quick, no-fuss group meals to more relaxed sit-down spots,” says Byrne. “For activities, Delco keeps things varied without being complicated - think hands-on
seasonal fun at Linvilla Orchards, outdoor time and fresh air at Ridley Creek State Park, and easy downtime in downtown Media with its walkable streets, shops, and local dining.”
Delco is an area that makes it easy to keep groups happy, with good food, lowstress planning, and enough to do to keep everyone engaged without overloading the schedule.
THE GRAND HOTEL OF CAPE MAY
The Grand Hotel of Cape May is an attractive choice for group business because it combines the functionality planners need with the kind of memorable oceanfront setting attendees truly enjoy, says Katlyn Mogavero, director of sales and marketing for the property. “As Cape May, NJ’s premier oceanfront beach resort, we offer 17,000-square feet of flexible event space, including four distinctive meeting venues... Our Oceanfront Penthouse Ballroom offers panoramic 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and Jersey Cape, while the Grand Ballroom features elegant architectural details, beachfront views, and flexible configurations.”
For smaller gatherings, the hotel’s Crystal and Wicker Rooms provide intimate, sophisticated settings. Lastly, its Oceanfront Sundeck and direct beach access pro-
vide unique opportunities for outdoor meetings, receptions, and team building experiences.
“What sets us apart is the combination of a resort atmosphere and full-service conference capabilities,” Mogavero notes. “Groups benefit from customizable packages, on-site catering, complimentary Wi-Fi, in-house AV, multi-capacity meeting rooms, hotel accommodations, restaurant and bar options, and support from a dedicated, award-winning planner who helps bring each event to life.”
The Grand Hotel of Cape May’s team of banquet professionals work to achieve flawless execution, ensuring each event feels customized, seamless, and memorable. A key part of that experience is the hands-on guidance of Mogavero, who personally works on more than 200 events each year and brings over 15 years of experience planning events.
In addition, the hotel boasts flexible event spaces, customizable packages, tailored catering menus, on-site coordination, inhouse AV support, 165 tastefully appointed guestrooms and townhouses, a business center, and recommendations for team building and local experiences to help create a fully curated event. Beyond the meeting room, attendees enjoy a true destination experience that turns productive meetings into memorable retreats.
“It is this balance of business, hospitality, and coastal charm that makes The Grand Hotel of Cape May such a compelling choice for group business,” says Mogavero. “At The Grand Hotel, we don’t just host events; we partner with planners to bring their vision to life.”
The Grand Hotel of Cape May offers fullycustomizable banquet and catering menus designed to suit every occasion. Culinary offerings range from continental breakfasts,
brunches, and buffet lunches to elegant hors d’oeuvres receptions and three-course plated dinners with options from buffet to à la carte service.
“We pride ourselves on providing both the classic staples groups expect and more creative offerings that elevate the event experience,” says Mogavero. “Thoughtful food and beverage service keeps attendees energized, encourages networking and connection, and often becomes one of the most talked-about elements of an event... At The Grand Hotel, food and drink aren’t add-onsthey are an essential part of what makes a group’s outing successful.”
When it comes to activities and entertainment, today’s groups want more than meeting space - they are seeking opportunities to relax, connect, and enjoy the destination. The Grand Hotel’s oceanfront resort offers plenty of enticing activities as well as leisurely experiences.
Guests can cool off at either the property’s Olympic-size indoor swimming pool or the outdoor saltwater pool; gather and unwind at the outdoor pool bar; enjoy cocktails and dining at Hemingway’s Restaurant; or spend the day on the beach with complimentary beach passes and chairs. The resort also is home to a fitness facility and a convenient gift shop.
Such amenities create built-in opportunities for networking, downtime, and group bonding outside of scheduled events, whether that is a poolside reception, beach outing, or casual social gathering. Combined with Cape May’s charm and attractions, the activities and entertainment available at The Grand Hotel help turn any group event into a true resort experience.
“What makes our offerings especially strong for corporate groups is that we combine the

full capabilities of a conference center with the appeal of a coastal destination resort,” notes Mogavero, “creating an environment where business objectives can be met while attendees enjoy a memorable and engaging experience. Meet me at the beach!”
KALAHARI RESORTS & CONVENTIONS
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions offers a truly unique “all under one roof” meeting and event experience, which is what makes it such a standout for large group events. Kalahari Resorts combines the scale and sophistication of a major convention center with the energy and amenities of a full-scale resort.
“In the Poconos, for example, we offer over 205,000-square feet of flexible meeting space, multiple ballrooms, and over 900 guest rooms so groups of all sizes can meet, stay, dine, and connect without ever leaving the property. A favorite of many group attendees is the nightly entertainment offered at Redd’s Piano where they can connect and sing along to their favorites with peers,” explains Kyra Popp, corporate director of sales, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions.
“Our newest resort in Virginia is just a short drive between Washington, DC and Richmond,” Popp adds. “This resort will feature 150,000-square feet of meeting space, more than 900 guest rooms, and amenities designed with flexibility and convenience at the heart.”
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in the Pocono Mountains,
“Notably, this resort will feature a beautiful climatecontrolled event barn, located just outside of the convention center, as well as an adjacent event lawn for guests to gather,” continues Popp. “Planners always are looking for outdoor space, and this provides both the ambience of being outdoors with the comforts of indoors. Our event barn will provide planners with another option to create unique, memorable experiences for their group while on-site.”
At all of their properties, Kalahari provides deep attention to detail within every offering, pairing high-end convention infrastructure with top tier talent. The majority of their senior level conference services team has been working at Kalahari for years. “Ultimately, groups choose Kalahari because we make your event feel seamless,” says Popp.
Acting as a true partner throughout the entire process, Kalahari’s dedicated conference services and sales teams work side-by-side with planners from the earliest stages to understand their goals and then map out how to execute them on property.
Kalahari’s meeting spaces are designed to be highly configurable, whether transforming a ballroom for a large general session, creating unique breakout environments, or utilizing outdoor venues for welcome receptions and special events.
Additionally, Kalahari works to weave memorable experiences into each function. “Our teams collaborate on everything from curating elegant registration and check-in experiences to tailored menus and themed experiences,” notes Popp. “With our built-in entertainment on property, planners can incorporate creative networking events, buyouts, or team building activities that align with their goals, or keep things simple and let attendees choose their own adventure. Ultimately, it is about making planning easier and providing enough tools for creative freedom… to turn their ideas into a seamless, fully realized event.”
All on-site restaurants are owned and managed by Kalahari, including the food served in their convention centers, which allows them to maintain quality stan-
dards to help elevate an event from functional to truly memorable.
“Planners want to create experiences, not just meetings,” Popp explains. “We love supporting planners to build-in meaningful supplementary experiences, whether that is a private dinner, team building activity, or simply giving attendees ways to connect and unwind after sessions.”

groups are looking for outdoor dining options when possible.”
“Overall, Crystal Springs Resort delivers a world-class culinary program that elevates every corporate retreat and off-site,” Abate continues. “Stewards of the acclaimed Restaurant Latour with its Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning Wine Cellar and host of the NJ Wine & Food Festival, our culinary team is equipped to deliver superb group dining experiences - from elegant plated dinners to interactive wine pairings - using the finest locally sourced, sustainable ingredients.”

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ
“Atlantic City is a destination where history and innovation come together in a way that elevates group business,” notes Anthony Molino, vice president of sales, Visit Atlantic City. “As the home of the nation’s first boardwalk, it has long created memorable experiences, and that legacy continues today.”
“What makes Atlantic City especially appealing for meetings and events is its blend of historic character and modern capability,” Molino continues. “You will find state-of-theart venues alongside iconic landmarks, all within an easy-to-navigate footprint that keeps attendees close to hotels, meeting spaces, dining, and entertainment.”
Such convenience enhances the attendee experience and also makes planning and logis-

tics more efficient. With accessible transportation, unique off-site venues, and vibrant neighborhoods, Atlantic City offers both practicality and personality.
Atlantic City’s wide range of opportunities and experiences can be tailored to any group. One of its biggest strengths is flexibility, which allows for creating seamless, engaging, and memorable events.
“From our expansive citywide meeting space to waterfront venues, scenic golf courses, rustic vineyards, and locally-inspired creative settings, it is easy to design programs that go beyond the traditional meeting format,” observes Molino. “For receptions and special events, there are some truly standout options. Groups can host gatherings over the Atlantic Ocean at the historic Steel Pier or choose lively local spots like Anchor Rock Club for a more intimate, music-focused atmosphere. These unique settings help turn events into immersive experiences that attendees genuinely enjoy and remember.”
Food and beverage is a key part of any group experience and, in many ways, tells the story of a place. Atlantic City’s story is a very flavorful one, from world-famous steakhouses and renowned Italian
restaurants that have been around for hundreds of years to more eclectic offerings like Afghan-French and Japanese cuisine, there is something to satisfy every palate. No matter the size or style of the program, groups will find memorable dining experiences here.
This same variety carries through to entertainment and activities. There are plenty of ways for groups to unwind, explore, and have fun together, such as standout live performances at The Hook by Spiegelworld, the city’s year-round residency show at Caesars, as well as playful, social experiences like Ocean’s 18 Mini Golf and Bar, and Escape AC escape rooms at Tropicana.
“Overall, Atlantic City makes it easy for groups to step outside the meeting room, connect, and enjoy experiences that are both unique and authentic,” Molino proclaims.
These destinations offer an enticing blend of accommodations, dining opportunities, activities, recreation, relaxation and more. Planners and groups can enjoy a variety of memorable and captivating experiences in an array of settings and locations. These places and spaces represent just some of the exciting options that await groups throughout the region.

Sporting Events & SportsRelated Activities
Youth sports tournaments, cheer and color guard competitions, exhibitions, contests and other sports-related functions have long been a driving force for destinations throughout the region. Such activities and events are responsible for generating revenue for not only the host venue, but also throughout the community, including overnight accommodations, restaurants, and a wide range of other businesses.
Destinations and convention centers have much to offer to event organizers, participants and attendees. Each of the following have forged strong relationships with planners within these markets and boast a winning combination of ample facilities, flexibility, and affordability. Offerings that make them highly attractive in providing sports event organizers with everything they need to host successful events.
THE WILDWOODS, NJ
Each year, the Wildwoods host thousands of young athletes (and spectators), all coming to the shore resort to compete in an ever-growing number of youth sporting events. From the Wildwoods Convention Center to the beach and beyond, the shore town has become a youth sports mecca.
With thousands of accommodations and a fullyequipped beachfront convention center, the Wildwoods have proven to be a resort that’s fully committed to, and experienced at, hosting large youth sporting events.
For indoor events held year-round, the Wildwoods Convention Center is the hub of activity, hosting multiple events and sports competitions under one roof. The state-of-the-art venue is located directly on the beach and adjacent to the boardwalk, designed to provide unforgettable views of the beach and ocean, while offering excellent event space and numerous amenities.
Also, many events are held on the Wildwoods’ free beaches during the warmer months, offering plenty of space for athletes and spectators to enjoy the competition.
For years, youth sporting events in the Wildwoods have continued to grow in popularity, drawing crowds from across the Northeast and throughout the USA. These events include a wide variety of competitions, ranging from beach soccer, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee tournaments to cheerleading and basketball championships, as well as beach hockey, lacrosse, baseball on the sand, and national wrestling, cheerleading, and gymnastics events.
The Wildwoods’ white sand beaches are ranked among the best in the country and are the largest on the East Coast, making them a perfect setting for large outdoor sporting events. Whether it is surfing, boogie board or swimming competitions, beach soccer tournaments, field hockey and lacrosse tournaments, Ultimate Frisbee championships, baseball on the beach tournaments, beach volleyball, or track and field competitions, the Wildwoods can host it. In addition, bleacher seating is available for over 3,000 spectators.
The Wildwoods Convention Center offers 260,000-square feet of flexible meeting space, including a 75,000-square foot exhibit hall (configurable into two 37,500-square-foot separate areas) with 30-foot high ceilings and bleacher
seating for 5,000 people; a 7,500-seat concert arena for live shows; a 12,000-square foot ballroom, 30,000-square feet of lobby and pre-function space; 10 separate meeting rooms; state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems; upgraded free Wi-Fi; and ocean views from nearly every angle, plus a team of experienced support personnel and service professionals.
Designed for flexibility, the convention center can be configured to accommodate multiple courts or competition areas simultaneously, making it a premier destination for indoor sports. In addition, the executive chef and seasoned catering staff offer an array of catering, food service, and concession options, as well as décor and theme consultations.
For groups requiring a centralized source to conveniently arrange accommodations for convention attendees, the Wildwoods Convention Center offers excellent convention housing support and service, enhanced and powered by MeetingMax, the leader in the Internet-based convention housing industry, with a wide array of reports made available to the meeting planner.
In addition, the convention center maximizes sub-block requirements, protecting key space allocations for special block requirements. Its experienced housing staff also works with hotels to accurately identify and verify inventory, rates, and any other requirements. In all, there are 8,000 hotel/motel rooms and 4,000 vacation rentals locally.
Visitors can navigate and book many of their needs independently through the website www.wildwoodsnj.com, as well, allowing them to plan out group activities that they might in-
dulge in during their time visiting the Wildwoods before or after a sporting event. This includes attractions, the beach, boardwalk, amusement piers, waterparks, events and festivals, beach concerts and live entertainment, boating, watersports, bike paths, and more.
When it comes to dining, visitors can enjoy fine dining or casual fare amid ocean or bay views, family-style restaurants and buffets, boardwalk fare, fresh seafood, Italian cuisine, Continental fare, Doo Wop diners, and other favorites served al fresco or indoors.
BLAIR COUNTY, PA
The Blair County Convention Center is a full-service venue offering more than 55,000-square feet of flexible event space, designed to accommodate a wide range of functions from corporate conferences to large-scale sporting events and tournaments. Its main exhibit hall provides an open floorplan, plus the ceiling height and loading access necessary to support tournaments, martial arts competitions, cheerleading and dance events, wrestling meets, and similar athletic functions.
Additional meeting rooms and breakout spaces allow organizers to host coaches’ meetings, award ceremonies, team banquets, and vendor expos all under one roof. Combined with ample and free on-site parking, and a central Pennsylvania location, the Blair County Convention Center is well-positioned to serve tournaments that draw teams and attendees from across the region.
“Sports event organizers have a distinct set of priorities compared to traditional conference and convention planners,” observes Garrett Giedroc, sales and marketing manager, Blair County Convention Center. “Logistics tend to take precedence: efficient load-in and load-out, sufficient floor space for mats, locker-style or staging areas for teams, and the ability to run multiple competitions simultaneously without congestion. Scheduling flexibility is equally important, as tournaments often run long days across multiple weekends.” Their food and beverage requirements also often differ. “While corporate groups typically expect plated meals and formal receptions, sports events call for concessions, grab-and-go options, and hydration stations that
can serve large volumes of athletes and spectators throughout the day,” notes Giedroc. “The Blair County Convention Center is equipped to handle both models, and our team is experienced in adapting service to the specific demands of each event type.”
“We also can coordinate with outside vendors and local partners when an event calls for specialized services, such as athletic trainers, equipment rental, or transportation logistics,” Giedroc adds.
The convention center is directly connected to a fullservice hotel, and several additional properties are located within a short distance of the facility, offering a range of options for teams and families at various price points. The venue’s partnerships with local hotels also allows them to assist organizers in coordinating room blocks that accommodate large traveling groups, which is often a critical piece of tournament planning.
Outside of the convention center, Blair County offers a strong mix of attractions that give teams, families, and spectators plenty to do between games or after competitions conclude. The Center works closely with its partner, Discover Blair County, who helps guests find activities year-round.
The Railroaders Memorial Museum and the nearby Horseshoe Curve, a National Historic Landmark, provide a meaningful look at the region's railroad heritage and are popular stops for visiting families.
DelGrosso's Amusement Park is a longstanding regional favorite, particularly for youth tournaments where families are traveling together.
Downtown Altoona has also grown into a destination in its own right, with an expanding selection of locally owned restaurants, cafes, and breweries. For those who prefer the outdoors, Canoe Creek State Park and the Lower Trail offer hiking, fishing, and scenic walking and biking.
“These offerings help ensure that a trip to Blair County for a tournament becomes a full weekend experience rather than a one-stop visit,” Giedroc proclaims.
OCEAN CITY, MD
Ocean City is a standout destination for sporting events, combining modern facilities with an iconic coastal Maryland setting. Its 10-miles of wide Atlantic beaches and mix of indoor and outdoor venues make it ideal for everything from large tournaments to smaller competitions.
The destination continues to invest in its sports infrastructure, including the Roland E. Powell Convention Center and expanded field complexes. For example, Taraflex sports flooring was installed last December. This Olympic-grade surface is used by top Division I programs and professional leagues, and it not only enhances the athlete experience but also removes the burden for organizers to ship in specialty flooring. With this upgrade, Ocean City became the largest Taraflexequipped facility in the world, cementing its place as a premier indoor sports destination.
The town’s strong track record of hosting regional and national events speaks to its capabilities. The convention center hosts a wide variety of sporting events throughout the year, including wrestling, indoor field hockey, cheerleading, beach and indoor volleyball, basketball and more.
Sports and sports-related event organizers have needs that often include proximity between venues, easy transportation and parking, high quality facilities and the ability to manage scheduling across multiple games or events. Sporting events also place a greater emphasis on amenities that support athletes and families alike, such as entertainment, downtime activities, and casual dining.
One advantage of hosting sporting events in Ocean City, MD is the proximity from the convention center to off-site activities and local hotels. The destination offers a high concentration of hotels, condos, and group
friendly properties, many within walking distance or a short drive from major venues.
When it comes to food and beverage, teams have access to everything from quick, casual options and concessions to group dining and waterfront restaurants.
Additionally, Discover Ocean City Maryland (OCMD) can help coordinate essential services like transportation, event staffing, and equipment rentals. The town’s compact layout and welcoming atmosphere allows organizers to streamline planning and provide an enjoyable experience for athletes and spectators alike.
Guests can enjoy a variety of activities and fun, such as relaxing on the beach, trying their hand at one of 17 golf courses, savoring local flavors, mini golf, or taking part in water adventures like kayaking, parasailing, jet skiing and more.
The iconic three-mile boardwalk is lined with shops, restaurants, amusement rides, as well as live entertainment. In addition, Alley Oops offers two locations (Midtown and Uptown), featuring classic arcade games, VR simulators, bowling, food, and fun.
Alternatively, set sail for a private group charter aboard Sunset Catamaran Cruises for networking, team bonding, or incentive rewards, all with scenic bay views. Or, start the day with a guided sunrise yoga session on the beach or a relaxed group walk along the shoreline.

VALLEY FORGE, PA
Valley Forge and Montgomery County stand out as a premier sports tourism destination thanks to their strategic location, diverse facilities, and comprehensive event support. Situated just 18 miles from downtown Philadelphia, travel to the area is easy and seamless for athletes, organizers, and spectators alike.
“Montgomery County offers an exceptional lineup of sports venues capable of hosting everything from grassroots tournaments to large-scale national events,” notes Rachel Dailey, associate director of sports, Valley
Forge Sports. “Through Valley Forge Sports, planners can access more than 30 indoor and outdoor facilities, including turf and grass fields, ice rinks, hardwood courts, and expansive multiuse venues.”
Flagship facilities include: Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks with up to 240,000-square feet of flexible space; Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, featuring eight lighted turf fields; and Valley Forge Casino Resort, which boasts more than 100,000-square feet of event space, including a 55,000-square foot event center.
“What truly sets the destination apart is the hands-on support provided by the Valley Forge Sports team, a division of the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board,” says Dailey. “From logistics and marketing to public relations and event funding, planners benefit from a collaborative approach.”
“Our goal is to make every event as seamless as possible while creating a memorable experience for athletes and spectators,” Dailey adds. “We treat each event like it’s our own and take pride in being a true partner to our organizers.”
Beyond competition, Montgomery County enhances the visitor experience with nearly 9,000 hotel rooms, with most hotels located within minutes of major sports venues and along key transportation corridors helping to make logistics simple for multi-day events and large groups.
Food and beverage options are equally robust, with more than 1,800 restaurants throughout the county that cater to every taste, budget, and dietary need. From quick, team-friendly meals to chef-driven dining experiences and group-friendly restaurants, organizers and attendees have ample choices for pre-game fueling, post-game celebrations, and team dinners.
When competition wraps up, Montgomery County delivers a destination experience that keeps visitors engaged beyond the playing field. Attendees can enjoy world-class shopping at the King of Prussia Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, or family-friendly attractions such as Netflix House, LEGOLAND® Discovery Center, iFLY Indoor Skydiving, Top Golf, Elmwood Park Zoo, and a variety of entertainment venues.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore more than 180 miles of trails, while history buffs can visit iconic sites like Valley Forge National Historical Park, which offers a unique sense of place and educational value.
“Together, the region’s depth of accommodations, diverse dining scene, and wide array of attractions make Valley Forge and Montgomery County not just a host destination, but a complete experience for sports travelers,” declares Dailey.

The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be an action-packed and exciting time for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Celebrations abound surrounding the 250th anniversary of the United States, major sporting events are attracting huge audiences, and the shore is full of happenings from music to parades to food competitions to an airshow and more.
Check out some of the events, activities, tours, and celebrations scheduled in the next few months throughout the region.
Party in the USA!
Philadelphia is no stranger to hosting major events, having welcomed the 2015 World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit, 2016 DNC, and 2017 NFL Draft. Once again, the local tourism and hospitality industry, city officials, business community, and more are all coming together to ensure visitors and residents alike are experiencing the best that the City of Brotherly Love has to offer.
“The city has been preparing for this milestone year for quite a while, and we are excited that it is finally here,” declares Gregg Caren, president and CEO, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Visitors planning their trip around America’s 250th anniversary celebrations will experience excitement and energy as the city welcomes major events, unveils new exhibitions, and showcases its rich American history.
“Many of the citywide conventions we have booked for this year actually cited their keen interest to meet in Philadelphia during the Semiquincentennial season,” observes Caren. “This year, Philadelphia will be the national centerpiece to the America 250 celebrations. Events will take place throughout the year, offering visitors a chance to explore Philadelphia’s role as the birthplace of American democracy through special exhibits, anniversary events, and citywide programming.”
The excitement will reach new heights as the Stadium District welcomes six FIFA World Cup matches, with both milestone events overlapping on July 4th when the city hosts a Round of 16 match and the nation’s largest Independence Day celebration.
Philadelphia also is embracing this milestone year with a wave of new and refreshed experiences for visitors that highlight the city’s
rich history and vibrant culture. Many local attractions and museums are investing in renovations and debuting new exhibits and galleries offering exciting experiences for visitors to discover, like “The Declaration’s Journey” at the Museum of the American Revolution, which explores the history and global impact of the Declaration of Independence from 1776 to today.
Kicking off a full year of celebration, Philadelphia has been spotlighting its many historic “firsts” all year long through 52 Weeks of Firsts - a citywide series of weekly events, storytelling, and experiences.
The nation’s largest July 4th celebration and one of the largest free festivals in the country, Wawa Welcome America, offers more than two weeks of free programs and events. The annual celebration culminates with a concert and fireworks display on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. This year, programming will be amped up in recognition of the major anniversary.
“These major events will showcase the city’s welcoming spirit,” notes Caren, “inviting visitors from around the world to experience Philadelphia’s walkable neighborhoods, diverse food scene, and vibrant atmosphere.”
Historic By Nature
“It’s a historic year,” proclaims Nina Kelly, director of marketing and communications, Chester County Tourism. “We’ve been preparing for America 250 and the full slate of mega events coming to the region for a long time.”
“At the end of 2025, we launched our campaignHistoric by Nature. This resonates on so many levels. Chester County’s historic landscape is covered with battlefields and heritage sites; plus, there is a strong horticultural history in the region,” Kelly explains.
“Greater Philadelphia is known as America’s Garden Capital with over 35 public gardens within 30-miles. The crown jewel of the collection, Longwood Gardens, calls Chester County home.”
With the Greater Philadelphia area on the world’s stage in 2026, opportunities abound during these exciting events. “While only so many folks can visit at one time, there is a unique opportunity to welcome them to return,” notes Kelly. “Chester County Tourism and our hospitality partners always collaborate to offer welcoming accommodations, attractions, dining, and shopping.”
For 2026, the Historic by Nature messaging invites guests to explore Chester County’s landscape and legacies. Founding families in the region include the du Ponts, whose legacy ranges from gunpowder to gardens, as well as three generations of the Wyeth family of artists.
Historic towns and crossroads like Historic Yellow Springs, Historic Sugartown, the Village of Marshallton, and St. Peter’s Village, to name a few, bring history to life, and many will be hosting special events for America 250. Visitors are invited to dine at places steeped in history during this anniversary year at perennial favorites like General Warren, Four Dogs Tavern, Duling-Kurtz House, Birchrunville Store Café and others.
Gardens are a major element of the du Pont heritage, and the magnificent Longwood Gardens is central to the du Pont story. Longwood’s founder, Pierre du Pont, was the great-grandson of E.I. du Pont. The property, acquired in 1906, today is situated on 1,077-acres and features 20 outdoor gardens, two conservatories, and spectacular fountains.
On summer evenings (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), the Main Fountain Garden features illuminated Fountain Performances that soar in many shapes and heights up to 175-feet in concert with bright, colored lights, music, and even fire. Be sure not to miss “July 4th: Fountain Fest Weekend,” a star-spangled evening of rousing patriotic anthems in celebration of America’s birthday.
On August 1st, experience what life was like for the soldiers at Washington’s encampment at Brandywine with the help of talented character actors from the Delaware Theatre Company during Voices of the
Brandywine at Brandywine Battlefield, site of the largest single day battle of the American War for Independence.
Continue to explore Chester County’s rich history with the Kennett Underground Railroad Bus Tours on August 16th, September 19th, or October 18th. These unique tours present local abolitionist’s stories and feature visits to documented Underground Railroad sites, historic homes, and Quaker Meetinghouses.
The popular Chester County summer program, Town Tours and Village Walks, returns for its 32nd year with the theme “13 Tours for 13 Colonies.” As 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this year’s calendar will be expanded to include 13 programs and three lectures.
Prominent heritage themes in Chester County, supported by the Chester County Commissioners’ recent Heritage Tourism Plan, will focus on main topics relevant to Chester County’s rich history including: The Philadelphia Campaign of 1777 (also a focus for 2027’s Town Tours program); A Hotbed of Social Reform in Kennett Square, Historic Yellow Springs, The Mill at Anselma, Oxford Area Historical Association and more.
Connect With History
This summer is shaping up to be a major moment for the Greater Philadelphia region, with a number of high-profile events expected to draw
visitors from across the country. For Montgomery County, that level of activity is already translating into increased interest and a strong sense of momentum.
What has been especially encouraging is the way visitors are engaging with the destination beyond a single event. The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board has observed more people extending their stays, exploring different parts of the county, and building out more complete itineraries. Whether that is spending time at King of Prussia Mall, dining at places like Eataly, or discovering new experiences like Netflix House, there is a clear appetite for variety.
With a strong hotel inventory, more than 100-miles of trails, and a wide range of family-friendly attractions, Montgomery County is well positioned to capture the interest of visitors. The result is a growing sense of buzz that extends well beyond any one event and speaks to the destination as a whole.
Valley Forge Tourism’s role is to help shape a cohesive and welcoming experience for visitors, both in the lead-up to America 250 and throughout the celebration itself. This includes working closely with regional partners while also ensuring Montgomery County is positioned as an accessible and appealing place to stay and explore.
A key part of their effort is presenting the county as a retreat within the broader experience. With the scale of activity expected across the region, the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board is offering visitors an opportunity to step away from the crowds and enjoy a more relaxed pace while still feeling connected to the significance of the moment.
Time spent at Valley Forge National Historical Park can be paired with dining, shopping, and exploration throughout the county’s towns and communities. Valley Forge Tourism will focus on making the experience seamless by providing itineraries, local recommendations, and clear pathways for visitors to move throughout the destination.
Whether traveling with family, extending a stay, or simply looking for balance during a busy schedule of
events, attendees can expect a destination that feels welcoming, is easy to navigate, and is well connected to the region as a whole.
Montgomery County’s programming for America 250 builds on its deep Revolutionary War history while also creating new ways for visitors to experience that story in real time. One of the signature moments will take place over 4th of July weekend with the 50th anniversary celebration of Valley Forge National Historical Park. The park will serve as a focal point for expanded programming and special experiences that highlight its enduring place in American history.
That same weekend, July 3-5, the county also will debut the Houses of Declaration initiative. Across communities ranging from Pennsburg to Bryn Mawr, historic sites, public spaces, and local businesses will host live readings of the Declaration of Independence. The concept is designed to echo how the document originally spread through town squares and taverns in 1776, sparking conversation and connection. It is a way to bring that moment in history into today’s communities in a very tangible, engaging format.
In addition, the county will offer visitors opportunities to experience the World Cup in a more relaxed setting, with local restaurants, breweries, and gathering spaces providing places to watch matches away from the intensity and crowds of larger city venues. It is another example of how the county fits naturally into the broader regional experience during a major global moment.
Across all of these efforts, the goal is to connect history with everyday experiences - inviting visitors to move between landmark sites, community events, and local businesses in a way that feels both meaningful and accessible.
Good Sports!
Philadelphia will be the only city this year to host not only the FIFA World Cup 2026™, but also the MLB AllStar Week in July. Fans will enjoy the All-Star Village, taking over the Pennsylvania Convention Center with
player meet and greets, interactive games and contests, ballpark food, and more. Located in Center City within walking distance of many downtown hotels, it will be a great spot for visitors and fans to immerse themselves in the excitement.
Next, they can head to Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, for events like the All-Star Futures Game, Home Run Derby, and MLB All-Star Game. The ballpark is in the Philadelphia Sports Complex in South Philadelphia, which most of the city’s professional sports teams call home. Thanks to the local public transit system, fans can hop on the subway from Center City for no-hassle, lowcost transportation.
“Philadelphia’s walkable downtown and accessible Stadium District make getting around easy for MLB fans and visitors alike,” notes Gregg Caren, president and CEO, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“Philadelphia is buzzing, and we couldn't be more excited,” observes Kelley Maddox, vice president of sales, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. “The 96th MLB All-Star Game is set for July 14th at Citizens Bank Park, with All-Star Week activities leading up to the game. The Midsummer Classic hasn’t been in Philadelphia since 1996, and it is arriving the same year that the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary. Live! is the ideal home base, as you are within walking distance to game day events at Citizens Bank Park.”

Guests staying at Live! Philadelphia also will be just steps away from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as Lincoln Financial Field hosts six matches between June 14th and July 4th, featuring teams such as Brazil, France, and Croatia. The city is expecting more than a half-million visitors for the World Cup alone, meaning from mid-June through the All-Star Game, the city will be the sports capital of the world - and Live! will be in the middle of it all.
“As part of our 5th Anniversary celebration, we are enhancing our offerings by transforming The Prime Rib’s Library Bar into a sleek and central gathering space off the Live! Hotel Lobby. It will be the natural spot to catch up after meetings or the game,” says Maddox. “Our 10th Street Market, which features Philly culinary favorites, also is expanding with the beloved Lorenzo and Sons Pizza doubling its footprint and menu.”

Meet, Drink & Be Merry
Wineries can offer a number of tailored experiences and opportunities for groups, such as private tastings, food pairings, vineyard tours and more. Many of these venues offer event spaces, both indoors and outside, that help in creating a curated experience.
Breweries also host tours, tastings, and events for private groups in a variety of indoor spaces as well as outdoor patios.
Throughout the region there are wineries, breweries, cideries, and distilleries that can help to create memorable and enjoyable experiences in a fun and relaxed setting. Of course, it always is important to drink responsibly and to arrange for transportation as part of the festivities.

GARDEN STATE WINE GROWERS
“Wine trails work for groups because variety is built in,” explains Dustin Tarpine (Cedar Rose Vineyards), chair of the Garden State Wine Growers Association.
“Each stop has its own personality, so the bold red drinker and the sweet wine drinker both leave happy. The travel between stops gives people time to talk and compare notes, which is half the fun. A lot of groups book trails just for the excuse to spend a day together.”
For a region, trails also keep people around longer than a single tasting would, Tarpine notes. A weekend on a trail helps to spread spending across restaurants, hotels, and local shops, which is good for everyone, not just the wineries.
When it comes to function space, a barrel room or a patio looking out over the vineyard helps to make any event feel like an occasion. Most of these venues offer a mix of indoor and outdoor options, from cozy cellar spaces and tasting rooms to patios, pavilions, and open lawns.
“The flexibility is really what sets them apart,” says Tarpine. “The same venue can handle a quiet anniversary dinner one night and a full-blown celebration the next weekend without missing a beat.”
Partnerships are an area where wineries can offer something extra. Things like food events, live music, and seasonal markets all pair naturally with wine, and they attract people who may not otherwise have visited on their own.
“At the trail level, working with tourism boards, shuttle companies, and local lodging is what makes group trips come together logistically,” Tarpine observes.
CHESTER COUNTY WINES & BREWS
Vineyards in Chester County, PA’s Brandywine Valley offer a wide range of unique venues for group events, blending scenic outdoor landscapes with versatile indoor spaces. They stand out not just for their wine, but for creating memorable, customizable experiences.
For example, Chaddsford Winery in the heart of the Brandywine Valley features charming indoor areas as well as picturesque outdoor grounds for gatherings. Similarly, Paradocx Vineyard offers over 100 acres of rolling hills, plus a tasting room and open outdoor space.
Other wineries bring their own distinct style. Casa Carmen Farm and Winery provides a more intimate indoor

experience, while Penns Woods Winery highlights expansive vineyard views with flexible spaces. For something different, Turks Head Wines offers an urban winery setting in downtown West Chester, with a warm indoor atmosphere suited for groups both small and large.
“Overall, the diversity of Chester County’s vineyards, from historic estates to intimate tasting rooms, makes them ideal for hosting unique and memorable gatherings,” explains Gabby Cocks, sales and marketing associate, Chester County Tourism. “If you prefer brews over wine, Chester County also has plenty of breweries with taprooms and event spaces perfect for more relaxed gatherings, including Artillery Brewing, Braeloch Brewing, La Cabra Brewing, Levante Brewing, Locust Lane Craft Brewery, Stolen Sun, Suburban Brewing Company, Twelve78 Brewing, Victory Brewing Company, VK Brewing, and Will’s + Bill’s Brewery. All of them feature either semi-private or private event options.”
The charming town of Kennett Square is known as The Mushroom Capital, as over 60 percent of the nation’s crop hails from the area, but Kennett Square also is recognized for its year-round libation celebrations - from the beer flowing good times of Brewfest in October and Winterfest in February to the warm, sweet and savory allure of Summerfest (June 14, 2026), showcasing Chester County’s best wines, ciders, and mead.
RENAULT WINERY AND RESORT
Renault Winery Resort in Egg Harbor, NJ features overnight accommodations, dining, golf, a spa, and 19 unique venue spaces that combine to make it an especially appealing destination among groups.

sales, Conshohocken Brewing Company, “with private and semi-private spaces, a wide variety of food options, and a full bar of Conshohocken Brewing Co. beer, Pennsylvania’s finest wine and spirits, cider, hard seltzer, non-alcoholic options and more. Many of our offerings are made right here in Montgomery County, PA, as is all of our Conshohocken Brewing beer. We have unique spaces perfect for any corporate or private event and a friendly staff ready to help make your next event a special one.”
Visitors can stop by for beers and bites during a live episode taping of “What’s Brewing PA” for NBC Sports Philadelphia, or enjoying the release of a new collaboration brew with a Philly sports legend supporting local charities like First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, Flyers Charities, or the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative.
“Try a sampler of our locally brewed beers paired seasonally - and sometimes brewed with - Bassetts Ice Cream, Girl Scout cookies, or Asher’s chocolate,” suggests Coligan, or plan a personal or private event of 150 or more people, “including a private behind-thescenes tour of our King of Prussia production brewery.”
Conshohocken Brewing Company proudly supports and works with a variety of people, organizations, and partners as a community space and as an active member of the local community. These partnerships include organizations like the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, the Philadelphia Blues Society, the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association, as well as a number of local trade and hospitality organizations, such as Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, and MidAtlantic Food Trade Organization. They also work with private golf clubs and venues, as well as a number of for-profit and non-profit organizations and others.
VIRGINIA WINE & ALE TRAILS
“In Charlottesville and Albemarle County, we are lucky to have both the Monticello Wine Trail and the Charlottesville Ale Trail, which give visitors and groups the opportunity to see the full picture of the wine and beer producers and venues in our area,” says Anna Whitlow, director of marketing and public relations, Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“In 2023, the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA) was named Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and wineries within the Monticello AVA have earned national and state-wide accolades that draw visitors to the area.”
The Monticello Wine Trail helps coordinate 50 wineries and vineyards in developing harmonized programming, working together to host groups, and collaborating to draw visitors. The Charlottesville Ale Trail is a selfguided tour of 13 locations that uses a digital passport for guests to visit craft breweries and cideries in the area, and incentivizes patrons to visit multiple locations by offering gifts and rewards.
“Together, this makes our wine, cider, and beer locations more easily accessible for visitors, which encourages visitation,” Whitlow explains.
“Because we are based in the heart of Virginia and at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the views from many vineyards and breweries include beautiful mountains and green spaces,” Whitlow adds. “Spaces for group activities and events range from homestyle buildings to elegantly transformed barns and even guided horseback tours. The story of our wine dates back to the days of Thomas Jefferson who dreamed of grape growing and winemaking at Monticello, his mountaintop estate. It wasn't until the 1970s, however, that a new generation of winemakers discovered the best vines to grow in our region’s terroir and began to fulfill Jefferson's vision of a destination dotted with wineries.”
History is a big driver for groups in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, and Jefferson Vineyards has a partnership with Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello where guests can enjoy use of spaces at both venues. In addi-
“When we are looking for venues to host our events, we look for ways to make the venue itself a draw for attendees; wineries, breweries, and distilleries have a built-in ‘hook.’ These types of venues allow us to provide an attendee activation via a tasting station or a tour of the fermenting, brewing, or distilling process, which not only enhances the experience but also can be budgetfriendly since we don’t need to bring in as many entertainment partners. Additionally, these venues often offer the opportunity to give attendees a bottle of spirits, wine, or beer from the venue… sometimes even offering the opportunity to create a custom label for the bottle or can.”

tion, the Monticello Wine Trail regularly puts on special events and festivals across multiple vineyards and wineries, like Monticello Wine Week each summer and Two Up, Wine Down in the fall.
The Charlottesville Ale Trail hosts seasonal special events, too, such as Pints on Preston, an annual craft beverage festival in the spring. Local brewers and winemakers participate in Grand Illumination, the holiday kick-off on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, and the Crozet Winter Brews & Booze Festival.
“Vineyards and breweries throughout Loudoun provide natural opportunities to extend programming beyond the meeting room,” explains Ann Hayes, director of sales - groups and meetings, Visit Loudoun. “Whether incorporated as team building excursions or receptions, these settings encourage attendees to step out of a conventional conference mindset and into a more relaxed and engaged environment.”
Many of these venues offer guided tours, educational sessions on winemaking or brewing, and curated tastings or flights. Such experiences not only are enjoyable, but often provide some of the most memorable moments at the event.
The spaces and venues often are memorable also. Lark Brewing in Aldie, for example, features outdoor pavilions that have enough room for casual networking or
post meeting events. Vanish Farmwoods Brewery has several casual indoor and outdoor spaces, including an outdoor pavilion that offers a stage and a bar.
Lost Barrel Brewing features a saloon with a covered seating area on an open patio where guests can mingle and chat by a fire or play a game of cornhole. Indoors they have the Loft and the Studio, both ideal for smaller to mid-sized groups.
Bear Chase Brewing Co. and Dirt Farm Brewing both offer scenic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The two breweries offer indoor and outdoor spaces that showcase the rural side of Loudoun County.
Breaux Vineyards has several indoor spaces, patios, terraces, and pergolas, while 8 Chains North winery has their Compass Rose Room with a window looking into their Barrel Room, plus more intimate spaces like their Tasting and Vine rooms.
Walsh Family Wines has a Garden Room with garagestyle doors that can open up to an outdoor patio. Boxwood Estate’s spaces include its Wine Cave and Bottling Room that provide an immersive experience into Boxwood’s winemaking, ideal for an off-site dinner or closing reception. Finally, Greenhill Winery has several available rooms, including a space that features wine barrels and outdoor patio access.
Many of these properties offer the option for a full buyout, as well. Several have live music on the weekends or offer trivia, puzzles, bingo and more during the week for those who want to plan around events on-site.
“Vanish Farmwoods Brewery sometimes will host skating sessions inside,” Hayes notes. “Wineries will do themed dinners or pairings throughout the year. Walsh Family Wine, for example, held a He Said-She Said Dinner: The Ultimate Culinary Face-Off in March.”
There are several annual events that are great to plan a meeting or event around, too. Loco Wine Festival at Old Farm Winery, Tarara Concerts, Polo in the Park, Great Country Farms events, Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival, Waterford Fair, Christmas in Middleburg, LoCo Music Festival, Loudoun Wine Awards and more.
These and other purveyors of wine and craft beverage also participate in community events that include fun group activities, such as trivia, live music, and games. Wine and ale trails are popular choices for fun group gatherings, as well. Many also join together with food trucks or take part in festivals and offer additional opportunities for groups to enjoy.

Q&A
Anne Ryan Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Tourism
Q: With the current climate of air travel possibly influencing planning strategies and decision-making, what initiatives do you feel are driving Pennsylvania’s rise as a go-to destination for meetings and events?
Anne Ryan: We’re seeing a real shift toward regional, drivemarket travel, and Pennsylvania is uniquely positioned to benefit from that. The Commonwealth sits within a four-hour drive of a significant portion of the U.S. population, allowing planners to tap into a large attendee base without relying heavily on air travel.
What’s really driving our growth, though, is how intentionally we’ve been preparing for this moment that is 2026 at the state level. Our focus has been on destination readiness, making it easier for planners to navigate Pennsylvania as a connected, multi-region experience. That includes strengthening statewide planning tools and resources, supporting local partners in elevating their offerings, and working closely with regions and communities to develop authentic, bookable experiences that can complement meetings and events.
We’re also aligning that work with the significant opportunity presented by the 2026 event cycle, using it as a catalyst to strengthen Pennsylvania’s meetings and events ecosystem across regions, not just in one host city.
We’re already seeing strong indicators of that momentum at the local level. For example, in Philadelphia, projections shared in a recent 2026 tourism outlook point to increases in international visitation, hotel revenue, and group business, alongside more than $1 billion in confirmed event business through 2030.
Taken together, that combination of statewide coordination and strong regional performance is helping position Pennsylvania as both a practical and forward-looking destination for meetings and events.
Q: How is Pennsylvania differentiating itself from neighboring states in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US?
AR: What sets Pennsylvania apart is the diversity of experiences within one state, and how easy it is to connect them.
You have major, globally recognized cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as scenic outdoor destinations, historic towns, and cultural hubs that offer very different atmospheres for meetings and events. Planners aren’t limited to a single type of experience; they can design something that feels highly customized.
We also lean into what we call “only-in-PA” moments, but for us, that’s less about one-off events and more about the depth of experience planners can build into a program. That could mean hosting an event steps from where the nation was founded, incorporating behind-the-scenes access to worldclass cultural institutions, or pairing a meeting with outdoor experiences in places like the Laurel Highlands or the Pocono Mountains.
What makes that powerful is that it’s not confined to a single moment in time. It’s a year-round advantage, offering the ability to combine accessibility, history, culture, and natural beauty into one cohesive experience.
That mix of flexibility and authenticity allows Pennsylvania to deliver something more memorable and differentiated than a more traditional, one-dimensional destination.
Q: What are some long-term goals for Pennsylvania’s meetings and events industry?
AR: Long term, our focus is on growing Pennsylvania as a destination that supports both major events and year-round meetings of all sizes, while ensuring that growth benefits communities across the state.
That includes continuing to attract large-scale, global events in 2026 and beyond, while also strengthening regional destinations so they can host meetings and conferences in their own right. We want planners to see Pennsylvania not as a single destination, but as a network of destinations that can work together.
At the same time, we’re focused on ensuring that Pennsylvania remains a flexible, accessible, and ac-
commodating place to host meetings. That means supporting a wide range of venue types and price points, improving ease of access across regions, and working closely with local partners to meet planners where they are, whether they’re organizing a large convention, a corporate retreat, or something more customized.
Another key goal is encouraging longer stays and repeat visitation. When someone comes here for a meeting or event, we want that to be the start of an ongoing relationship with Pennsylvania, not a onetime visit.
Q: Are there any ‘wish list’ ideas that you would like to see throughout the State?
AR: One area we’re especially excited about is continuing to create more seamless connections between meetings and the surrounding experience.
That could look like more integrated itineraries that are built directly into event planning, making it easy for attendees to extend their stay, or more partnerships between venues, local businesses, and cultural institutions to create turnkey experiences.
We’re also focused on finding new ways to bring Pennsylvania’s personality into meetings themselves. That means thinking beyond traditional programming and incorporating elements like local storytelling, regional food traditions, and unexpected activations that reflect the character of a place. As part of our broader 2026 strategy, for example, we introduced the Visit PA Playmakers, a curated group of iconic Pennsylvania figures and cultural ambassadors who can appear at events across the state. It’s a way to infuse meetings with a sense of place and energy that feels distinctly Pennsylvania, whether through history, performance, or fan culture.
Ultimately, the goal is to make meetings feel less transactional and more experiential, something attendees remember not just for the content, but for how it felt to be here.

Philadelphia is hosting MLB All-Star Week during a historic moment for the country. How does MLB view the role of All-Star Week in connecting the game’s legacy with this broader national milestone?
When you look at baseball’s role in the history of this country, it’s impossible to separate the two. The game has been woven into the fabric of American life for well over a century, and in many ways, it has grown alongside the nation itself.
Hosting All-Star Week in Philadelphia, at a moment when the country is commemorating its 250th anniversary, gives us a unique opportunity to celebrate both the history of the game and where it’s headed. We plan to honor the legacy of baseball, its traditions and iconic moments, while also showcasing its evolution through new rules, emerging stars, and a faster, more dynamic style of play.
In many ways, All-Star Week will serve as a symbolic conclusion to this broader national milestone.
All-Star Week has evolved into a multi-day, citywide experience. How is MLB thinking about expanding beyond the game itself to create moments that resonate with fans, visitors, and local communities?
While the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game remain the marquee moments, All-Star Week today is much bigger. It’s about creating a full ecosystem of experiences that connect with fans at every level.
You see that through events like the MLB Draft, where fans are introduced to the next generation of stars, and the Futures Game, which puts top minor league talent on a national stage. The HBCU Swingman Classic is another important piece, providing a platform for players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities to showcase their talent while also helping to build their personal brands.
Beyond the spotlight moments, we’re equally focused at the community level. Whether it’s through youth programming, legacy projects, or local engagement initiatives, the goal is to create a lasting, positive impact that communities feel long after All-Star Week concludes.
What does a successful All-Star Week look like for MLB today—not just in terms of attendance, but in terms of fan engagement, cultural impact, and longterm value for the host city?
Success starts with how we showcase Philadelphia to the world. Philadelphia becomes a global stage during AllStar Week, not only for the fans traveling in, but for the millions watching from home. It’s an opportunity to reinforce the city’s position as a premier event destination.
We’re very intentional about how we program the week to reflect that. While the ballpark is the centerpiece, we extend well beyond it into Center City, the Convention Center, and key historic areas. We want fans to experience the city, not just the game.
A big part of that is highlighting Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and cultural fabric. Through experiences like AllStar Village and other citywide activations, we’re bringing local communities into the spotlight and giving visitors a deeper understanding of what makes the city so distinctive.
If fans leave with a stronger connection to Philadelphia’s history, energy, and culture, and if the city sees lasting economic and community impact, that’s when we know we’ve been successful.
From emerging talent to global viewership, baseball is reaching new audiences in different ways. How does All-Star Week serve as a platform to showcase the future of the game?
The international growth of baseball is at an all-time high, and it continues to expand. Events like the World Baseball Classic have demonstrated just how global the game has become, with strong representation and passionate fan bases from countries around the world.
It’s a platform where we can showcase not only the best players in the game, but also the future, whether that’s through the Futures Game, the Draft, or youth engagement initiatives.
It’s also important for young fans to see a clear pathway into the sport. When kids watch these events, they’re not just seeing great players, they’re seeing what’s possible.
At the same time, the competition itself matters. The AllStar Game is not just an exhibition. Players take pride in it, they want to win, and that level of intensity creates a compelling product for fans. When you combine that competitiveness with global reach and emerging talent, AllStar Week becomes one of the most powerful showcases for where baseball is headed.

“We have had a lot of exciting movement across the Poconos lately, especially on the meetings side,” explains Sarah Farrell, regional sales manager, Pocono Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau. “One of the biggest updates is the 13,000-square foot event center currently being built at The Swiftwater, which will be a great option for mid-size groups looking for a modern meeting space in the region. We also are continuing to see enhancements at properties like Kalahari Resort and Camelback Resort, both of which are constantly evolving their meeting offerings and group experiences.”

and nature outings,” notes Farrell.

Experiences like these easily can be plugged into an agenda without complicating the logistics. Offering a mix of productive and memorable, they provide a simple and effective way to get people out of their normal routine while at the same time sparking new ideas and connections.

When promoting a venue or restaurant… how to ensure the experience remains the primary focus
It's challenging with so many opinions! A lot of the time, a Chef will want to showcase an esoteric dish while the mixology team wants to make sure their brandnew bespoke creation is front and center, and the GM or owner could have a whole different perspective.
Getting people's genuine reactions and creating a sense of what it is actually like being at the venue is your main focus. For me, it is important to also capture the little details, whether that be a unique wallpaper in one of the rooms,
art installation turned bathroom decor (bahbebahdu), or the way that a bartender mixes a cocktail.
In the absence of a sense of smell, taste, or touch, it is important to capture those details visually and also to describe them in a way that makes people want to experience it for themselves.
It is a delicate art, but it must be about working together with all of the venue's stakeholders and keeping their goals (as well as the goal of driving curiosity about the space) top of mind.

CITY’S TOURISM FUTURE WELCOMED
Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) and Visit Philadelphia hosted their joint 2026 Tourism Outlook event at the National Constitution Center, spotlighting what’s next for the city’s tourism and hospitality industry following what is anticipated to be a notable year in 2026.
Visit Philadelphia has spent the past several years preparing for a significant increase in visibility, focusing on how people discover and experience the city and how residents engage as ambassadors. That work included launching philly2026.com as a centralized hub for events, helping hundreds of businesses strengthen their digital presence through the Destination Optimization program and partnering with neighborhoods to develop new experiences and deepen visitor connection.
The PHLCVB also outlined its strategy to drive meetings, conventions and major events business while expanding international visitation through targeted efforts in 10 key global markets. “This year is a critical inflection point for Philadelphia as we are about to step into one of the most visible tourism moments for our city,” said Gregg Caren, President and CEO of the PHLCVB.
New data shared by Tourism Economics reinforced this outlook, pointing to a strong rebound for Philadelphia’s visitor economy in 2026. Philadelphia’s hotel sector also is forecast to strengthen.
Following a year filled with major sporting events, 2027 will welcome the return of the Army-Navy Game to Lincoln Financial Field. NCAA basketball also will return to Philadelphia with the DI Women’s Basketball Regional, plus DI, DII and DIII Men’s Lacrosse Championships, and DI Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The PHLCVB has more than $1-billion in economic impact already on the books from confirmed event business through 2030.
