Warnet BRICK - This year’s week-long fire camp, hosted by Brick Fire Academy, teaches the next generation of fire fighters how to start their journey. Everyone knows the summer gets hot. But a few select kids from Brick got to feel how hot it can get. From July 13 through July 17, a group of teens and pre-teens participated in the annual Fire Camp, organized by the Brick Fire Safety Bureau and Training Center.
County Tests AI Text Line For Senior Services By Stephanie Faughnan OCEAN COUNTY - Residents searching for food assistance, transportation, caregiving support or other services for older adults can help test a system designed to provide answers through a text message. Ocean County has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered text line that allows residents to ask questions about local aging resources at any time and receive automated response. By Jason Allentoff OCEAN COUNTY – A local doctor, his daughter and his 2-year-old granddaughter were killed when the small plane he was piloting crashed shortly after takeoff in upstate New York, leaving family, friends, patients and colleagues mourning three generations of one family. New York State Police identified the victims as 70-year-old Dr. Gabriele Jasper of Toms River, 33-year-old Gabriella Hillgrube of Forked River and her young daughter, Guiliana Hillgrube.
Jasper was piloting a 1976 Piper Aerostar that departed Adirondack Regional Airport in Saranac Lake at about 10:36 p.m. on July 13, authorities said. Investigators said the aircraft climbed to an estimated 100 feet before communication was lost. Troopers located the wreckage after spotting a fire in a wooded area near Route 186 and Hearf’s Way in the town of Harrietstown. The aircraft was destroyed, and all three people aboard were pronounced dead at the scene.
