By Justin Sauer HOW ELL – T he sound of familiar songs filled the Monmouth County Library’s Howell Branch, bringing residents together for an hour of music, memories, and community. Rhythm N’ Sound performed a “Musical Revue,” offering a free
concert that featured popular music from the 1940s through the 1980s. Around 25 people attended the event, which included classic standards, doo-wop, rock ‘n’ roll, Motown, disco, and classic rock. For many in the room, the concert was more than just an afternoon
performance. It was a chance to hear songs connected to different times in their lives, enjoy the company of neighbors, and experience live music in a welcoming community space. “We try to bring in a variety of programs – something for everybody,” said Debbie
Bagchi, branch manager. “We have children’s programs, adult programs, music programs, art programs and science programs. We t houg ht people could cool off in the library today and enjoy some fun music.” Bagchi said events like (Music - See Page 2)
Volunteers Thanked For Building Plane For Pilots Without Arms

By Stephanie Faughnan BERKELEY - Jessica Cox Chamberlain slowly circled the airplane, imagining what it would feel like to take off in it. Born without arms, Jessica has spent much of her life proving that physical limitations do not define a person’s potential. In 2008, she became the world’s first licensed armless pilot, f lying an airplane entirely with her feet. Now, standing
inside a hangar at Ocean County Airport, she smiled as she admired The Impossible Airplane, a custom-built Van’s RV-10 built through years of volunteer craftsmanship and engineering innovation. “It started off literally in crates and thousands of rivets,” she said as she led reporters around the aircraft before a celebration. “It’s amazing to me.” (Plane - See Page 10)
By J. R. Warnet MONMOUTH COUNTY - Freehold Regional School District voted to fill its empty seat at a recent Board of Education meeting. Alison De Noia, of Colts Neck, attended the meeting and was allowed to speak at the podium to discuss her qualifications. Peter Bruno, a board member from Howell, thanked De Noia for volunteering for t he p o sit ion . Z a ck Metzger, also f rom Howell, asked De Noia about her qualifications before the vote. “What do you see as this districts biggest issue?” said Metzger. De Noia spoke about the two issues she saw as impacting Freehold Regional School District: state aid funding and rising healthcare costs. After a brief session of questions and comments by board members, the board left to go into executive
session to vote on De Noia’s appointment. Within minutes, the board returned to unanimously vote in their newest member. Upon being voted to the board, De Noia was an active member. She was then sworn in by Alex Ferreira, A s sist a nt Sup e r i n tendent for Business / Board Secretary, and took a seat on the panel for the remainder of the meeting. “I left the Colts Neck Board of Education in 2024,” De Noia told T he Howel l Ti me s while the board was in executive session. “I would’ve loved to have served another term, but it didn’t work out that way and I’ve been actively politically involved and engaged in my community, as well as in the county and the state and federal level.
