Group That Helps Animals Is Seeking Aid
By Andrew Rice HOWELL - Local animal rescue, Rescue Ridge, is seeking donations and volunteers to help care for cats and dogs in need. Rescue Ridge is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of stray, neglected, and abused animals, whose volunteers work tirelessly to provide safe, loving environments for homeless dogs, cats, and occasionally other animals as well. From caring for animals from high-kill facilities to helping local pet owners care for their animals by providing them with a reliable place to get pet food and other goods, to helping animals get adopted, Rescue Ridge provides many services needed to properly care for the animals in local neighborhoods and find them good homes. Soldiers Honored At Memorial Day Ceremony

By Andrew Rice HOWELL - Memorial Day weekend means a lot for Howell Township and the surrounding shore area. For many local attractions, it signifies the start of the busy summer season. On top of that, nearby towns such as Farmingdale and Brick host big parades for Memorial Day. With all of these festivities going on, it is import-

One such local ceremony that really shows what Memorial Day is all about is the one put on by the Howell Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9691. Vigil Held To Honor Teen Lost In Hit-And-Run
By Andrew Rice JERSEY SHORE - Thousands of members of the Brick Memorial High School community braved the rain and the high winds to attend the vigil to mourn the loss and honor the memory of Jackson Daniel Mueller. The students held candles in memory of their peer. Prominent members of the Brick Memorial community were in attendance, such as Superintendent of Schools Dr. Thomas Farrell. A small break in the rain occurred for the vigil, but it unfortunately came back, causing the attendees to be dispersed. Then, a small group of students and their families gathered near candles, balloons, and flowers that were set up at the spot where the accident occurred the day before.
They stood out in the rain at the makeshift memorial to mourn the tragic accident. The 15-year-old was a lifelong resident of Brick whose life was cut short by a hit-and-run on the morning of May 19 as he was riding his bike to school. Jackson was just short of finishing his freshman year at Brick Memorial High School. While the family was robbed of a son, grandson, brother and nephew, the world won’t see him grow up to be an engineer, which was his chosen profession. As an honors student in the school’s STEM Program, he was expected to attend the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science in September. (Vigil - See Page 4)
