Academy Foundation’s 42nd College Television Awards, which recognizes excellence in student-produced programs from colleges

across the nation. Dolan had been nominated along with 13 of her classmates at Montclair State University in the News category for

“New Orleans/Raging Storms.” She served as a director, producer and writer on the project, which was selected (Awards - See Page 4)

Who Can Use Town Hall? By Bob Vosseller PLUMSTED – Resid e nt s a s ke d w h a t g roups are allowed to use town hall, and what the process is for reserving it, during a recent Township Committee meeting. Officials responded by saying that the policy needs to be made official. Resident Karen Lam-

phere questioned the application process for the municipal building located on Evergreen Road. Township Attorney J e a n C i p r i a n i e xplained, “the business administrator (Jennifer Witham) and I will be having a conversation about setting up a policy. It has been a first come, first served basis

if it wasn’t in use. If it is available it needs to be available for any group for a first come, first serve basis. There can be requirements regarding scheduling a time, held harmless and cleaning and those type of things.” Witham explained that were she to get a request “and if it is available, we’ll see that

the door is unlocked. We do have rules for the downstairs about putting things back the way you found it. If you were to have a gathering of over 25 people, we have a form that you can fill out to identify that there will be a lot of people in the parking lot and to notify first responders if there was to be a larger gathering.”

Cipriani noted there was no current adopted policy on a requirement of insurance for the use of the building. “That is one of the things that the governing body will be asked to consider.” Committeeman Cuozzo said that “separate from my position as a committeeman, I also serve as the CEO for a (Hall - See Page 18)

Facing Cuts, School Postpones Budget Hearing By Bob Vosseller JACK SON – T he township school dist r ict p ost p one d it s school budget public hearing until May 8 to allow for more time to advocate for change and a better plan. T he he a r i ng wa s rescheduled from its April 26 Board of Education meeting date to May 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center of Jackson Memorial High School. Superintendent Nicole Por milli explained “in order to have ever y moment possible to continue to advocate for our students and to create

a budget under impossible circumstances, on the advice of the Ocean County Superintendent of Schools, we a re mov i ng t he d at e of ou r P u bl ic Hear i ng to the last possible day within t he st ate -ma nd ated budget calendar.” Pormilli added, “the district needs as much time as possible to continue to draw attention to its budget crisis and to advocate for relief the district need s. T he d ist r ict i s wor k i ng clo s ely with the Department of Education and the Ocean County (Budget - See Page 8)

Plumsted Updates Environmental Code By Bob Vosseller PLUMSTED – The Township Committee a p p r ove d a z on i ng ordi na nce that was drafted to meet objectives of the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan during their most recent meeting. The ordinance calls for Plumsted to confo r m t o t h e m i n i mu m st a nd a rd s set forth in the Pinelands Protection Act that concerns f lood control, groundwater recharge, erosion control and pollutant re-

duction using stormwat e r m a n a ge me nt measures, including green infrastructure and best management practices. It also establishes within the Pinelands Area of the township, minimum stormwater management requirements a nd cont rols that were authorized by t he New Je r sey Department of Environmental Protection.
